Blue JJs magic..
I use Blue, Chartreuse and Red Spike-It Markers to transform pearl white swimbaits into something like a Sexy Shad (A-Jay's version anyway). Either way, the Green Bass eat it pretty good. A-Jay

Well Fishing Season Over For a Month Now and Deer season opens Saturday
Deer Hunting Season is a big deal up here as well and although I will not be in the woods stalking deer, I will welcome the now even less bassheads on the water while I hunt late season brown bass. Weather is always a little sketchy in Oct / Nov but when the opportunity presents itself, I am so there. Like tomorrow for instance. Good Luck out there and stay safe. A-Jay

Lake Baccarac Trip October 2021 ~
I was fortunate once again to spend 5 ½ days with my good friend Big Fish Jeff fishing at Lake Baccarac in Mexico. As usual, we stayed at the world famous and recently renovated, Lake Baccarac lodge. The upgraded accommodations are killer and the super friendly staff always treats us right. This trip challenged us a few different ways. A few days before our travel, Hurricane Pamala took aim the Mexican West coast. Thankfully this storm gassed out over the rough Mexican terrain and didn’t threaten our travel plans. What did cause some major concern was the air traffic controllers strike the day we left. Jeff’s flight to Dallas was Flat out cancelled last minute. Leaving him high & dry. Taking matters into his own hands, Big Fish Jeff did his best Mario Andretti impersonation and just Drove the 500 miles from Memphis to our hotel in Southlake, TX. Total Rock Star move. Made great time and arrived to enjoy dinner together. The other ‘challenge’ revolved around my GoPro’s. It was pretty hot, well into the mid & high 90’s the first 3 days. The Hero 9 Blacks didn’t like that and kept overheating causing them to shut down. Honestly that has never happened before but it was a big PIA. Ended up missing a chance to capture a few of the better fish catches. Days 4 & 5 were a little cooler and we had better luck keeping the cameras running. After editing what we got, this ones mostly a ‘highlights of the trip’ video. Something else that was a little different this trip, was that we had the opportunity to fish with two of Lake Baccarac’s finest guides. The first and the last day we fished with Sixto and Manual the in between days. Both worked hard to put us on bass. And I do mean work, as this trip the water level was pretty high causing the bass to be very scattered. The bigger girls were really hard to find. Early morning topwater was fairly reliable most every day but as the heat of the day came on, bottom contact baits were the deal; Texas and wacky rigged plastics (lizards & stickbaits mostly). On day 3, after probing quite a bit of the main lake for giants, we found some bait & decent bass in backs of coves. We worked that hard the rest of the trip. Plenty of 4-6 lb bass on underspins. A few over 7lbs and Big Fish Jeff took top honors once again with an 8 plus pound Mexican Fatty. As usual, we both used MH & H Casting gear with 20 & 22lb FC line. For topwater, Jeff used 50 lb braid & leader while I threw 22 lb mono. So there it is. Make enough of these trips (my 10th – Jeff’s 12th) and eventually we were bound to bump into something like this. Despite having the fishing be a little ‘off’, we had a great time; always do. And we’re already looking forward to the next one. Here's the video ~ A-Jay

What's The Hardest Bait/Lure To Fish with?
Above & beyond the physical demands of large baits / gear as well as long bombing and winding in large deep crankbaits for hours, the 'hardest' bait for me to fish, is one that I have little to no confidence in. Then the question becomes, then why the heck would you fish it ? Usually happens while trying to 'learn' what it's all about, but not always. Fish Hard A-Jay

Man - it was full contact all the way ~ I should have videoed that ! He put on almost 7 pounds while I was gone and he's 2 inches taller. His name is most appropriate. A-Jay

I'm planning on putting up the Pro-V Bass for the winter middle of next week. Always a bummer but it's got to be done. A-Jay

Jerkbait attitude
I do not get wrapped up in how the bait sits. Has never made enough of a difference for me. What I do want to achieve is to work a jerkbait so that it looks like it's trying to get away, but not doing a very good job. #easymeal https://youtu.be/yfnYSE-HjIE?t=1506 Fish Hard A-Jay

Allergies
Hope you feel better @Mobasser I seem to have a rather intense allergy to Hard Water. Because everytime I'm anywhere near it, there is a rather severe reaction. This includes but may not be limited to a massive nausea, violent full body shakes, head ache and an insatiable desire to fly south. It's pretty bad. ? A-Jay

Why I am a better ________ angler than you are!
5 years later and having purchased the Pro-V Bass boat, the above experience was INCREDIBLY VALUABLE; especially fishing new & bigger water which can seem fairly intimidating. Having a higher level of mobility can be both a blessing and a curse. #fishsmall A-Jay

Lake Baccarac Lodge In Mexico
Got back stateside last night. Presently, I am in TX but should be back up in the north woods and home some time tonight. Thankfully the travel both ways was mostly painless. More on than later. But the fishing, although somewhat 'off' by Lake Baccarac standards, was pretty darn good. I will pour through the 5 plus days of video footage in the next few days and post up a report. Should be decent. Thanks for checking in and especially for the support. ps - feeling fortunate to have United States of America citizenship. Fish Hard A-Jay

Working to Stay Lean ~
Good chance your diet is causing your excess body fat. Reducing your calorie intake is the only way you'll ever see results regardless of how much cardio you do. Several small meals a day works. Hope plays no role. If you are not hungry 24 hours a day, you're eating too much. A-Jay

Lake Baccarac Lodge In Mexico
Thank you my friend, I certainly appreciate the kind words. Recent reports say 'there's bait everywhere', usually a good sign. Just checked in for my first flight out in the morning. It's "On Time" - hope that continues. If it does I'll be wheels up before noon for the start of another adventure. A-Jay

Introducing the Newest Member of Our Pack ~
This is from a couple of weeks ago. Tank and Kya enjoy a little game of chase up & down the fence line. Tank was at 16 weeks here. Kya (White Shepherd) is 17 months and has a fairly amazing aerobic capacity which my wife take full advantage of on their morning runs. This was an off day. Both are rescues from White Paws German Shepherd Rescue. A-Jay
