  1. Just a spring chicken myself #borninfiftynine While I am still fairly capable at this point, and do quite a bit of what needs to be done maintenance wise myself, I certainly have & am well aware of my limitations. So I stay in my lane by working smarter not harder, meaning I have no problem paying for whatever. Better than jacking myself up as it takes forever to heal, if it even does. Can't put a price on whatever I have let. Stay Safe A-Jay
  2. Not the worst news this morning . . . . "Pamela has not strengthened as quickly as thought up to this point. After landfall, Pamela is expected to rapidly decay due to the rugged terrain of Mexico." Local forecast doesn't hurt my feelings either A-Jay
  3. One way or the other, this will be the last one of these for a while . . . A-Jay
  4. Latest update is ~ This trip hangs in the balance right now. Tropical Storm Pamela is looming like a turd in the punch bowl. A few hours one way or the other, if she decreases or intensifies, any of those can help or really hurt our chances of making this one as scheduled. https://www.wunderground.com/hurricane/eastern-pacific/2021/tropical-storm-pamela?fbclid=IwAR3KXiFNaHQzAQsSOrFw_mbnCz5IwbiF6lufYniEq-S-a4SWE2FVePqQuBw Pretty much just a wait & see deal. So that's what we're doing . . . #fingerscrossed A-Jay
  5. Been through this drill a few times over the years. Had to reschedule one trip so far. No sense getting spun up about it until our pilot says to. We're getting with him today to make a contingency plan if needed. Thanks for looking out. A-Jay
  6. Always an interesting topic ~ And while I do understand that the science says that bass may not see the entire color spectrum as we do, I rarely ever actually consider that fact when selecting baits; regardless of type. So many times one color or pattern will out produce another I'm always looking for that one. However, the aspect of this that has been covered before (and in previous responses here) is bait profile & size. Along with the color having this dialed in can be just as critical. And finally, there's the 'vibration' produced. Whether massive, subtle or something in between, where does that detail come into play & how much. When I think of presentations such as, cranks, rattle / lipless baits, spinner baits, vibrating jigs and the list goes on, this is a big deal IMO. Even soft plastics and especially anything with a paddle or boot tail (swimbaits) or action type appendages (Rage Tail Baits for instance) are part of this. So while I want to believe that ALL these baits (hard & soft) have the exact same vibration profile, the reality is, as far as the bass are concerned, they probably Do Not. Which may explain why that one Megabass perch colored Jerkbait I have just out produces other versions of the exact same bait and why I guard that one lure like it was Gold Jerry, Gold. So Yes, I think color, size / profile AND vibration profile need to combined effectively in order to illicit that strike from Old Mrs Big. Fish Hard A-Jay

  8. 80's here this coming week as well. I'll be gone but do expect it to snow the day I get back. And here I was hoping Fall would come on a weekend here this year. As for baits ~ I've been know to toss these things around a little. A-Jay
  9. Decent way to start the day ~ A-Jay
  10. I was mostly bald a while a go. I can't see or hear like I used to. My back aches all the time. My elbows & knees make all types of crackling sounds and I can't remember chit. Other than that, I'm in some of the best shape of my life. #borninfiftynine A-Jay
  11. Yes it it - And as swimbaits go, these things 'swim' horribly. Not even close to anything that looks 'natural. But evidently, that's the magic. The stupider they look, the better. I've had several days where this was the only bait I threw All Day. Can't say how they work for the mutant pike you catch. A-Jay
  12. Hello and welcome to Bass Resource ~ Nice Intro A-Jay
  13. Just a few more days ~ But I've been packed for A While. A-Jay
  14. Agreed But I've had 5 lb brown bass open standard Gamakatsu EWG's. So when it comes to DD green bass, the rule of gross tonnage applies. A-Jay
  15. Just hang'n out ~ #borninfiftynine A-Jay
  16. In capable of over coming crushers grip / Not burying the hook. I was fishing a Super Fluke on a weighted EWG superline hook. Like I said, bad Idea. I have since fixed that problem #20lbtatsu A-Jay
  17. A mental thing ? Most definitely. It was a completely mental idea using that thread on big bass. A-Jay
  18. I've been using the 8, 10, 15 & 20 lb as the main line on my spinning reels for the past several years with a high level of success. Does everything I need it to, and more importantly, nothing I do not. IMO. it's a Good Braid at those tests. This fish came on the 8 lb 832 and 8 lb FC leader https://youtu.be/zIqCmH_52IQ?t=727 Fish Hard A-Jay
  19. You know I thought that too - And before I knew better, I tried the 12 lb Big Game on some of these . . . Let's just say it did not work for me. Not enough hook setting horse power. A-Jay
  20. Glad you caught it. I've done that same type of deal a few times. Usually it because I knocked the rig out of my own hand on the cast or something similar. Fish fingers may have been a contributing factor. Either way, it's not a Thor type feeling for me, more like a first class spazoid. Afterwards, while trying to play it off and look like Joe Cool, I do the old 'look around' to see if anyone saw what had to look like a full body wretch. A-Jay
  21. Hello and Welcome to Bass Resource ~ A-Jay
  22. An Inner Fire is one of the most important things a man can possess ~#borninfiftynine A-Jay

  25. I took the hardware off an old wooden Zara Spook and am using it as an ignition key fob for my riding mower. Does that count ? A-Jay
