  1. I prefer to buy bulk spools myself. Don't know enough about how or where you fish to really help. I can tell you what I use but it may not apply to you. I'd go with 30 lb. I will also add that unless you have 'several' rigs, never use backing and change the braid well in advance of it actually 'needing' to be replaced, having 3000 yards of any quality braid might be a two life time supply and qualify you as the regional distribution center. 2. I always want open water ASAP here. Ice out early April here is considered sort of early & pretty rare. But I've had some truly epic April trips so I keep the dream alive. Either way, May's not to shabby either. A-Jay
  3. That's OK my friend ~ The extra week or two is often well worth the wait . . . ? A-Jay
  4. I miss the sun. The warm one. ? A-Jay
  5. Agreed ~ And if you're bored, perhaps consider inserting that nasty little four letter word in to the search box above. Even if one 'limits' the requested results to Content title only the results are staggering ! https://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/search/?&q=Best &search_and_or=and&search_in=titles&sortby=relevancy Oh My. I'm probably guilty of this deal myself however. A-Jay
  6. I'm right here as well. Except for the Toray SHU, haven't tried that one yet. But I expect to soon. I don't have a 3rd Favorite as these two do everything I need FC to do for me. As for the worst, mine are all old versions of FC tried several years ago. Knot strength was so bad I wrote FC off for quite a while (and stuck with mono). That list includes several brands/versions that may not need to be mentioned here. Once I gave FC another shot I started & ended with the Seaguar listed above. It worked well, I stopped there and haven't looked back. A-Jay
  7. When your path demands that you walk through Hell ~ Walk like you own the place ! A-Jay
  8. Was only a matter of time ~ ? A-Jay
  9. Horizontal for me too. Especially poppers as the vast majority of the time the bait sits motionless. Walkers I rarely stop, unless a bass takes a swipe at it and misses. A pause before resuming the walk right there often gives the fish an opportunity to reacquire the bait. Still like it to sit close to flat though. A-Jay
  10. Hello Mark and welcome to Bass Resource ~ A-Jay
  11. Just got the word ~ New rig's at the dealer now Pending completion of the installed accessories I could be in it by FRIDAY !!!!! Who's pumped ? A-Jay
  12. There were many times when I REALLY wished the North Atlantic worked like that ~ A-Jay
  13. Stop feeding your fishing partners exlax ! ? A-Jay
  14. While we all can occasionally stumble upon Nirvana, a basshead often needs to put as many factors in his or her favor as possible. However that certainly doesn't mean any of that has to be easy. I expect to put in the work, ie 'Grind'. Clearly, it guarantees nothing. But when it's all said & done, The harder I work, the luckier I get. A-Jay
  15. LOL ~ @Team9nine You're a trouble maker Mister ! Seems to me that Randy revels in the contrapositive. A-Jay
  16. I use either Seaguar Smackdown or Sufix 832 Braid braided lines both in 10 lb with an 8 lb Seaguar Tatsu leader for my Ned Rig needs. Can't say either "is the best" as I haven't tried them all. However the Sufix worked pretty good on this occasion . . . . A-Jay
  17. That dial is a "line memo feature". Simply used to note / help remember what line test is on the reel. It plays no role in casting or anything else on the reel. A-Jay
  18. I don't know why I did that. A-Jay
  19. That's a Great Monkey ! A-Jay
  20. Perhaps cut yourself some slack ~ My impression is that it's a great bait that the local brown bass population really seems to dig. A-Jay
  21. It sure did A-Jay
