A-Jay's 3rd Annual Ice Out / Open Water Countdown Thread ~
Running, biking and sledding with the dogs is almost always a great time. Although adittedly the inital training can be challenging. Temperature extremes either way can take the shine off it pretty fast. So we pick our spots A-Jay

Lake Baccarac Lodge In Mexico
Hi @Chris at Tech Thanks for thinking of me - really. And while Kistler has a well earned reputation for producing a fine stick, you know as much as anybody, that me & travel rods just do not play nice together. #splintercity So that's going to be a hard pass for me right there. However, in a rather unexpected & very pleasant turn of events, seems Big Fish Jeff and I will be using a most awesome & full spectrum selection of Dobyns Champion Extreme HP Full Handle Casting Rods on our next trips, that a very generous friend left there for us. So that's pretty cool. 249 Days & a Wake Up ! A-Jay

Favorite Pre-Spawn Lures ?
Good Eye Sir ~ In my world the hunt for big pre-spawn brown bass starts the very day the ice goes out. Intercepting these girthy girls as they start coming in from their winter haunts has proven effective. Some come straight into the skinny water, and the standard bait is money then. But it does seem that many will hang back a bit, staging on something 'deep' while they wait. If one is willing to fish in the cold & wind that's often a part of this, there's a decent opportunity to coaxed a few of these heifers into snapping up an easy meal. Often times, it's got to be right in their face - So low & slow is the order of the day. A-Jay

Truck Detailing
While I always wipe my boat off (usually at the ramp) right after I pull it, when there is open water, if my truck AND boat are super clean / detailed, it always means there's massive wind and I can't FISH ! Other wise it's usually just one or the other A-Jay

Megabass kanata
Sure thing ~ The Katana certainly is larger - effectively stout in fact. A-Jay

Megabass kanata
The Katana weighs a full ounce while the Max BO comes in a 3/4 oz. They both cast pretty good. for me. A-Jay

Truck Detailing
Yup ~ When the truck's not heavily soiled (just dust/pollen) I'll spray foam the whole rig with a load of soap & use that 'sponge' clay to wash the vehicle. Saves a step. A-Jay

How to get most speed out of my 60hp Merc on tracker 175tx
@bwcaw ~ While ensuring our rigs are performing at their very best is a common theme we all share, To start, looking at the numbers can really help. Here's what I mean . . . The max recommended load for the TXW is right at 1,100 lbs. 20 gal gas, 2 average humans, the 60 hp motor, 2 batteries, the charger, Trolling motor and assorted gear will almost always come in near 900 lbs. I know that sounds like a lot but it adds up fast. So the 60 hp motor (which is 15 hp less than the max allowed) is being required to perform while handling at least 80% of the max allowable load. (but it could be much higher). Might not be a big deal unless you're like me and carry WAY TOO much stuff. Then it may really be adversely affecting your motors ability to get that hull up & out of the water and on plane. Not really a problem, unless you think it is. Perhaps revisit your load, invest in a stainless steel prop (as noted above) if you haven't already and that's about all you can do. Unless your rig is set up in some crazy motor too high or too low fitment, or you are doing something very unusual with the trim/tilt during take off - what you see is what you get. Any other 'tweaks', might not offer the return expected. https://www.trackerboats.com/bass/pro-team-175-txw-tournament-edition.html A-Jay
