  1. I'd like to apologized to the OP @BassnChris for hijacking your thread. Sorry and I'm done here. A-Jay

Hello and Welcome to Bass Resource ~ A-Jay
  4. And I guess it's interesting in that I rarely hear the opposite of this . . . "I just can't take this brilliant sunshine for another day ! We are moving way up north and that's the end of it ! " Said no one ever. ? A-Jay
  5. On the other side of this ~ I have boxes for reels I don't have any more ? #makesnosense ? A-Jay
  6. Yes - but only about 3/4 of an inch - Which did not change anything adversely. Boat still sits great at the roller. A-Jay
  7. I hear ya ~ I can tell you that while I make posts about the cold & snow, truth is the only part that I really dis-like is not being able to fish over the winter. The rest of it is "just Life". In the service I moved 19 times in 28 years. THAT was a PIA. However I got to see some places and experience different deals - all be it all on the east coast. What I took from that was every place we live has the good, the bad & the ugly. We just need to decide what version of that we want to endure. My decision as to where to retire to and live out the rest of my days had several layers to it. Much of that revolves around my wife's health, which is not good. We could have gone anywhere, literally. Cost of living, availability of health care, and type of life style of the area, all came into play. My fixed income goes a long way here. In the end, much of what keeps many folks from settling in this area, is what I like most about it. I prefer rural, small town deals, with no hurricanes, and very few people in general. If there is a vehicle in front of me at one of the few stop lights here, we call that traffic. Read that again. Good Luck with your decision. A-Jay
  8. I have a few thoughts here but I'll address your questions first. Yes, there is usually enough water at the access points I frequent to sink the trailer deep enough to soak the bunks. And I always did and still do. May not always be deep enough to 'Float' the boat on trailer, but the bunks do get wet. Yes, I will continue to always wipe the these bunks of before every recovery regardless of where or what the type of surface my rig is parked on. It works to ensure the bunks are clean and operate as designed. It's an 'extra' step perhaps, but it take 30 seconds. And I am always willing to put the work in to get the most out of my gear. When I replaced my bunks I learned quite a bit about the stock carpeted bunks I was using. Again know that I always dipped the trailer to wet the carpeted bunks prior to loading the boat. What I found out when I removed the old bunks is - that didn't really matter. When I pulled the old bunks off, the entire length of carpet on every bunk was FULL OF SAND ! So despite rinsing them off, the carpet retained all that mess which essentially 'sanded' the bottom of my boat every time; going on & off the trailer. Didn't do a ton of damage but the 'slide marks' on the bottom of the hull are obvious and apparent. The new bunks do none of that as there is nothing 'on' them when the boat goes on & off. Virtually Millions of boaters use and have depended on the standard carpet bunks for years without issue. So did I personally & professionally. And if there was no alternative, (besides rollers which I do not care for) I would still be using them. But there is and I like it. Finally, I not attempting to 'convince' anyone that this is what they need or should have. I am simply relaying my experience with it. YMMV A-Jay
  9. Me too - Good Call Admittedly there seems to be less to 'look at' now though. btw - I wipe the bunks off with a rag (treated with 303 protectant) right before I recover the Lund. Removes any debris (sand & grit) that may blow up on the bunks after spending all day in the parking lot, many of which are not paved here. Boat slides on & off easy. A-Jay
  10. Can't say for sure but the very next time your rig is off that trailer, consider participating in a very close inspection/evaluation of those bunks, mounts & supporting hardware structural integrity. If you go with what's in that video, the bunks my outlast the trailer. Good Luck A-Jay
  11. Spro rock crawler 55 is a solid producer for me. A-Jay
  12. It is. You and me, we're a team A-Jay
  13. PSA ~ Tip the chunk. But before you do, slide a section of stick bait, worm or craw body sufficient in length to 'take up the space' between the jig head & the chunk. Maybe even a piece of Berkley Powerbait Maxscent The General Worm. Helps keep it from getting all crazy on the hook A-Jay
  14. Not to shabby for a GMC accessory ~ Like the extra HP/Torque as well. A-Jay
  15. Longmire ~ This American modern Western crime drama television series premiered on June 3, 2012 on the A&E network, never watched it then. Developed by John Coveny and Hunt Baldwin, the series is based on the Walt Longmire Mysteries series of novels by Craig Johnson. I'm seeing it on the Outdoor network. A-Jay
  16. Tradition requires an 'igloo' be constructed each winter in the 'dog yard'. Miss Fenway is always a willing occupant. A-Jay
  17. Clearly there's no apology needed. I get it too. Trebles - no trebles, it's all good. A-Jay
  18. I am Very PRO - towards not losing giant fish. Clearly quality treble hooks (and the right set up) don't guarantee anything, but they certainly don't hurt my chances any either. And while I've released a good many fish in my days, virtually all swimming off strong, I would be naïve to think that a few might not have made it. I do what I can and am willing to live with the results. Besides, the eagles & the turtles might benefit from that. #stuartofthesea A-Jay
  19. Yes - there most certainly is ~ Start fishing at night. You may find out that staying in touch with what your bait is doing does not reduce strikes but can be very helpful when it comes to detecting them. @Catt A-Jay
  20. Hello and welcome to Bass Resource ~ Hope you're hanging in there during the insanity down there. A-Jay
  21. Thanks ~ The feedback on that clip has been mostly positive. Either way the product is solid and performs as advertised. A-Jay
  22. Here's at least two reasons right here ~ I would never do anything that would reduce my chances of putting fatties in the net. Single hooks, IMO do that. Carnage will happen. Comes with the sport. A-Jay
  23. LOL ~ Well Done ! A-Jay
