  1. Anybody Got Purchase Plans Over Winter ? Order goes in at the end of this month ~ expecting a February 2021 delivery~ #prettypumped A-Jay

This makes me smile. And you know why. Nicely Done. A-Jay
  3. My opinion regarding your question revolves around being in the right place, at the right time and doing the right thing. I have had more success with the Jackhammer than any of the other 3 or 4 vibrating jigs I've fished, but I fish it more. Using the Yamamoto Zako as a trailer has caught more bass for me than the goby, but I've been fishing it for an extra season. Trying to guess 'what else might have worked', is IMO an exercise in futility. Perhaps watch a few of the catches here and decide for yourself. (in the this clip I ID the bait as a SK Thunder Cricket, but I later realized it was actually a TD Jackhammer. ) A-Jay
  4. I know and you're right ~ Doesn't mean I like it ! I have been trying to get out past several weeks but nothing's lining up. It's either cold rain, big wind or both. And tomorrow night & Friday night guess what's coming in . . . . I am not even going to say it but it rhymes with BLOW, DOE, FOE, GO HOE, JOE, KNOW, LOW, MOE, NO, POE, ROW, SOW, TOE, YO & ZOE. (Not real sure about that last one, but I think you get the point). Been a Crazy Year. A-Jay
  5. Sitting along an Upper Peninsula highway waiting to catch speeders, a Michigan State Police officer saw a car puttering along at 28 M.P.H. He thought to himself, "That car is just as dangerous as a speeder." So, he turned his lights on and pulled the car over. Approaching the vehicle, he noticed there were 5 elderly ladies, two in the front and 3 in the back, wide eyed and looking like ghosts. The driver was obviously confused. She said, "Officer, I don't understand, I wasn't going over the speed limit! What seems to be the problem?" "Ma'am," the officer said, "you should know that driving well under the speed limit can also be dangerous.” "Under the speed limit? NO SIR! I was doing exactly 28 miles an hour," the old woman said proudly. The officer, holding back a chuckle, explained that 28 was the highway route number, not the speed limit. A bit embarrassed, the woman grinned, thanking the officer for pointing out her error. "Before I go Ma'am, I have to ask, is everyone OK? These women seem badly shaken and haven't uttered a word all this time.” "Oh! they’ll be alright in a minute. We just got off Route 129.” A-Jay
  6. We have snow in the forecast for Thursday & Friday nights this week. I am going to need to acclimate quickly ! A-Jay

  9. These baits are on the soft side (good thing IMO) so they pair well with the vibrating jig. They seem to 'absorb' some of the jigs vibration and then only 'transmitting' a portion of it through the trailer and eventually to the small turned up tail. Additionally, and this is what may be contributing to much of this ones success as a trailer; the baits tail will allow it to 'swim' on a tight line - so a slow decent to the bottom. Definitely does so on a slack line free fall, but in cooler water temps, that tight line presentation is killer. As for the side fins, for my drop shot deals I leave them on, but for trailer applications, I clip them off tight to the baits body. Not needed IMO. A-Jay
  10. I think it is - Managed to slip in an order right before the lock up. Either way, decent chance the standard or any quality Vibrating jig could offer similar results. In fact, I just received 3 offerings from @Siebert Outdoors that I'm 'testing' out. More to follow . . . A-Jay
  11. Ah yes ~ The Cost of our gear debate. This one may be as old as the Bass Resource Forum itself. Responses routinely include much of the passion we all share as bass fisherman. My addition here is, I like quality gear that is durable, works well and when maintained properly lasts. Who else does or doesn't use what I do plays no role in my purchase decision. Similarly, my truck choice is Always very new and loaded. Clearly doesn't make be a better driver, but it sure feels good and is a blast to drive. YMMV A-Jay

  13. Thanks @Kyle S~ They are pretty sweet baits; super soft. I did find that clipping off the side 'fins' is the way to go when using them as a vibrating jig trailer. If you PM me your name & mailing address and I'll spot you a few to check out. Do it. A-Jay
  14. My MVP of baits so far for 2020 has been a vibrating Jig. Specifically, the Tungsten Evergreen Jackhammer with hand poured Goby swimbait Trailer by a Paul Krews Custom baits. Before I ever made my first cast with this one I was calling it The Thunder Goby. Just enjoyed say it. And on the first trip out and several trips after, The Thunder Goby was making it happen by putting fat brown bass in the net. A-Jay
  15. We fly in and start fishing on the 14th. I am hoping for a deep jig bite or a suspended swimbait bite. See you there ! Safe Travels A-Jay
  16. I drop them off here on my way out of town. Good Luck A-Jay

  18. This bait has a unique rigging system in that the internal clip slides out to facilitate hook change. Once re- rigged and fished, the football head has a tendency to 'slide' forward a bit on the internal clip and pinch the knot tied to the front of the bait. While it's never actually been a problem, I prefer to keep it that way. So adding the split ring does that for me. A-Jay
  19. The RPE Tackle Tungsten Swinging Football Jig (Pictured Top & Bottom Bait) and the Freedom Tackle Stealth Swim Jig. (Pictured Middle Bait) The RPE rig is Tungsten, come without a hook, can be purchased in bulk, and possesses a unique and very secure hook hanging system. The Freedom Tackle product is offered & sold as a complete bait. And while I do retain the hook & quality skirt that comes with the bait to use in different applications, for my swinghead fishing applications, I am just using the head. More info here ~ A-Jay
  20. If your objective is to have the perfect drag setting for the breaking strength of your line, then you can most certainly achieve that with a scale. But my objective in NOT That. My objective is to keep the hooks in the fish. This is a completely separate deal from the breaking strength of the line. I could have a perfect drag, and line that never breaks - and pull hooks all Day ! And a scale is not going to help me. Experience & time on the water is my scale. And you can bet I've lost fish and will most likely do so again. But not nearly as many as if I never touched my drag and simply winched in every bass I hooked. YMMV A-Jay Sorry for the hi-jack @Eddie101
  21. Clearly we have different opinions as to what 'ideal' may be. You believe it never changes - I believe that it does. But does it Matter ? As long as we both put the fish we are looking to land in the net, we're both right. A-Jay
  22. Here's to a smooth procedure and a full & speedy recovery. You've got this. A-Jay
  23. Well when I consider the Sea Monsters that roam some of the lakes I fish, it can be a little tricky to be "ready" for everything with an end all 'perfect' drag setting. If I set it & forget - I may be missing out. Hooked & landed on 10 FC while bass fishing . . . Do what you have confidence in. A-Jay

  25. "Tighter" is a relative term. My preferred drag adjustment on every rig I throw, varies with each specific presentation & situation. However the 'objective' is always the same. Get a solid hookset without risking any type of gear failure. Once the barb(s) is or are in, then the objective changes to keeping it or them there. Unless I'm fishing very heavy cover where moving a bass up & out of it needs to happen almost immediately after a hookset, the Most pressure I Ever place on a fish, happens on the hookset. After that, I've got nothing but time. I one of those weird guys who fight/plays a bass. #nowaterskibassforme A-Jay
