Carpet on trailer bunks: do you really need it?
If there is a dock at the ramp, my Launch & Recover process is the same, regardless of the ramp grade. During very early & late season (cold water), when the docks are not in, I'll don the hip boots and perform the wet foot launch. The Lund can simply be pushed or pulled right onto the trailer - too easy. Haven't done a video on that complete process yet, but when the opportunity is there, I will. Either way, I do not remove the safety chain or the towing strap, until my rig is in the drink and just about to float off the trailer. A-Jay

Anyone else use a cheaper boat?
Fished out of the Old Town canoe for over 10 years and still do, on occassion. Such a solid rig that I set up to suit my needs. Learned a lot about the aspects of seasonal fish location and feeding times. btw, I am not wearing a life jacket in this old pic. I have since fixed that A-Jay

You ever eat a LMB that you catch?
I'm not a fan of the taste and or texture of either green or brown bass. With so many much more palatable choices IMO readily available here, there's just no reason to eat bass. And on the somewhat rare occasions I do get a hankering for it, bathing breaded panfish fillets in hot fat is my go to; almost always bluegill. But I'll knock the sides off a keeper walleye in a New York second. A-Jay

Perhaps try cleaning them with a mild soap and water and then wipe them down with a protectant. Armour all will work. I use 303. Restores the slickness pretty fast. A-Jay

Hey squarebill guys and gals...
Large is a relative term. I've been using them for smallmouth for several years, quite effectively I might add. Here's a throw back clip from when I realized the bait's 'magic'. A-Jay

Winterizing baits
I hear ya. I used to leave trailer on my jigs routinely and with little to no problem. But got burned when virtually all my SK structure jigs got fred in a couple ofweeks. Rusted and weakened right into the trash. A-Jay

Winterizing baits
Interesting ~ Must be those magic hooks of yours. For the rest of us mortals, the problems often are hiding on the hook shank under the trailer. A-Jay

24v vs 36v
If I was running out of juice before I wanted to stop fishing, I would think hard about fixing that. 36v and a pumped up trolling motor is how most address it. That 3rd battery is a space eater so that's routinely a consideration as well. Good Luck A-Jay

Winterizing baits
I am with @MN Fisher ~ Unless I am planning to fish a bait the very next day - I am removing the trailer. I know it's a bummer - seems like you're 'wasting' a perfectly good trailer. However there's a good chance, depending on the bait's salt content and the hook itself, that there could be some significant oxidation/rust happening. Happens quick sometimes so I will Most Certainly remove Every Trailer for the winter. #learnedthehardway btw - Mend it Glue is a very decent bait repair method and it's certainly cheaper than replacing several of your jigs & swim Jigs. Could salvage some of the less tattered rigs for you. https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Mend-It_Softbait_Glue/descpage-MIG.html A-Jay

Nice. As time goes on, keeping a Very Close eye on the integrity of the bunk wood may be a solid plan A-Jay

Carpet on trailer bunks: do you really need it?
They work great and I would never use anything else. FYI - the original carpet bunks retain a ton of grime, sand & grit and actually mark the bottom of a rig far more than this product; which does not of that. Here's more info . . . A-Jay

Maybe maybe not ~ Either way this is another reason why this rig is exceptionally useful . . . A-Jay
