  1. When presenting a jig in any situation that has sufficient cover (weeds) to hang up or foul the bait enough to prevent presenting it properly, I prefer a weed guard. Can't say that they reduce hook ups but they definitely improves my presentation where needed. In areas where there is a hard or mostly open bottom, void of the type of cover mentioned above, I may not use a jig head that has a weed guard. Simply slide a skirt & trailer on a football jig. https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/catpage-MUSTADTT.html?from=basres Seems a more cost effective option rather than cutting them off. A-Jay

  4. Just a quick PSA. If you're in need of stripping off any type of line that's to be discarded / recycled (and not re-used); especially off many reels and or big spools. This handy dandy little deal is quite effective. You'll need a drill of course. It's probably over priced, and might be something a handy DIY'er can make, but either way . . https://www.amazon.com/Line-Off-Stripper-Removes-Accessories/dp/B01HVT2JPQ Berkley makes one too. ( it's a little cheaper) https://www.amazon.com/Berkley-1476665-Line-Stripper-Black/dp/B07HHS1W5F/ref=pd_bxgy_200_3/136-9125803-3015940?_encoding=UTF8&pd_rd_i=B07HHS1W5F&pd_rd_r=f7da53b0-204b-4fc9-a80a-4b29ad393e0f&pd_rd_w=w7RUj&pd_rd_wg=tTnjL&pf_rd_p=09627863-9889-4290-b90a-5e9f86682449&pf_rd_r=HVW77ACV4K3KMPC4BX42&psc=1&refRID=HVW77ACV4K3KMPC4BX42 A-Jay

  11. Nicely Done ~ Cold & Windy is no picnic. As for the DT Bills failing, this has been the biggest knock on these baits since they were first introduced. No doubt while intact they get bites. Seems one just has to be willing to accept that eventually a reel or two may get blown up. And I certainly don't need any extra help in that department. A-Jay

  13. Agreed ~ Hope can be a risky strategy. For me, being 'prepared' 365/24/7, feels so much better than being under gunned even for an hour. A-Jay

  15. OK - I lied. Never been to El Salto Been to Lake Baccarac Lodge a number of times. Never felt the need to go anywhere else. I've posted (As have other BR members) a number of threads documenting the results. Below are the posts & videos from the last two trips. A-Jay
  16. Been a strange and particularly mild winter for us so far. Only used the snow thrower a handful of times. As opposed to at least twice a week if not more during an average hard water period. Not Complaining though. A-Jay
