  1. I believe it's fair to say that 'rough water' can often be a relative term. A-Jay
  2. This pic is actually from the first morning of the storm. It's Lynn's crew on the way out the inlet in Scituate, MA. These surf boats, although no longer in service, were self-righting; meaning when there was a wave big enough to roll it over (capsize), the next one would re-right it. Only problem was, we had to hold our breath while we waited. (Usually 30-45 seconds - which can seem quite a bit longer hanging upside down under water) Oh, and hope the engines were still running when it did. At least one usually would. And this was all kinds of fun At Night ! A-Jay

  4. No Doubt ~ @keagbassr And judging by the multiple Green TANKS you shared with us this past season You certainly NEED IT ! A-Jay
  5. Remember that one well. My wife and I were on the water through much of that. Along with our crews, we both saved several lives; Very intense. The movie was decent too. A-Jay
  6. Still some snow left but not much. 34 and raining - quite a mess. Additionally we are WAY low on average snow fall. Hope it doesn't negatively effect lake levels in the spring. Which btw, is what it feel like this morning. 111 days to go and this weather makes it feel like it's much closer than it is . . . A-Jay
  7. While I'm always game for a good challenge, this one might be a bit of a stretch. Either way, I certainly do appreciate the support. A-Jay
  8. You can either replace the non-locking lid latches with an after market lockable version or go for the cross deck lockable security bar that prevents the lids from being opened or both. 9. I've been using a uni to uni knot successfully for a long time in both fresh & salt water applications. Doesn't mean other knots do not work, are better or worse. Just that this one's done the job for me and I trust it. Additionally, I re-tie often, meaning a lot. New leaders go on every trip. The uni to uni is one I can tie quickly & correctly; which actually promotes re-tying. That's a good thing. IMO 'over used' connection knots are a break off waiting to happen and are the most common cause of knot failure. Regardless of what knot it is. Especially when the knot is flying in & out of the rod guides at hyper speed a couple of hundred times per trip. A-Jay
  10. I'll still be doing this one well into July ! A-Jay
  11. It's a hard sound to miss. We rarely see them but always hear them. Them once it snow's, we are immediately reminded of how often and how closely - they 'visit'. I think it's cool. A-Jay

  13. By day, it's the whistle & horn of a passing train. The crazy call of a pair of loons in the distance. The distinct cry of an eagle over head. The grunt-snort-wheeze of a mature Whitetail on the bank. A wide assortment of Ducks, Gulls, Geese and Turkey calls. By night, it's the always wild & slightly unnerving screech & 'who' of an owl. The piercing high pitch 'yeps' of a pack of coyotes way back in the woods. The eternally startling tail splash of a beaver. And the Crickets and Spring Peepers are almost deafening. Can't imaging deliberately drowning any of that out. A-Jay
  14. Disguised as mule deer, Santa’s reindeer were caught on camera this week practicing their landings and takeoffs. Good luck, guys! A-Jay
  15. I use braid & a leader on every spinning set up in the boat; including but not limited to Drop Shot, Ned Rig, Neko Rig, tubes, swim baits, blade baits, spy baits, Jerkbaits, and an assortment of top water presentations. While size & length vary with presentation, it's almost always Mono. Berkley Big Game Green in 10-12lb test and Maxima Ultragreen in 6-8 lb test. There are a few occasions where I'll venture into the FC zone. This is usually a rare event and almost always revolves around my own bit of paranoia about not getting bites. Seaguar Tatsu, InvisX and AbrasX all see limited duty, but it always makes me a little nervous if I bump into any crazy big by-catch - which is a semi-common occurrence here. I have been using a uni to uni knot for leaders since I started this deal. Knot failure is not something I'm Ever concerned with. (Can not say that when using FC). Especially with spinning gear, where I rarely if ever need to 'pressure' a fish. Once this gear survives the hook set, the rest is just playing the bass to the net; using the reels drag. Finally, 10 lb Braid and a 10lb Big Game Green mono leader has accounted for a ton of Master angler fish (of assorted species) for me. YMMV A-Jay

  17. I can't totally disagree. But the only other new LS2 came in a Vet for twice the $$. So I just squinted a little and fooled myself. A-Jay
  18. I don't think they made that many - It wasn't very popular I guess. When they brought them back in 2004, I drove one; didn't like the 5.7L. Drove it again in 2005, still sort of a dog. After just a few minutes in the 6.0L in 2006, I drove that one home. ? A-Jay
  19. The year before I retired, I bought this one new in 2006, last year they made them. Happy Birthday to me. Loved quite a bit about this ride, especially the 6 speed. She was kind of a sleeper, but the LS2 pulled pretty good. Not an overly skilled wrench turner, this one was mostly stock, sort of. Ran her around for 10 summers and then sold her with just under 20K on the dial. Used the $$ to help fund the Lund Pvo-V Bass. I miss her - a little. A-Jay
