  1. 2019 started off and ened nicely. Mid-season for me was very forgetful. A-Jay
  2. We're getting blast - winter's here to stay unfortunately. I caved, - cleaned, covered up, and tucked the Old Town away in the kennel for DEEP hibernation. Until next season . . . . A-Jay
  3. Thank you - I have to give all the photographic credit to my fishing partner, Big Fish Jeff (00mod). Regardless of how hot the bite is - he ALWAYS makes it a point, to do whatever it takes, to get several great pics for me. Really a solid & generous man and I am very fortunate to fish with him any chance I get. Accordingly I do my best to return the favor. Being such a great stick - Jeff offers me plenty of opportunities. A-Jay
  4. TBT ~ 2 years ago today. A-Jay

  7. Far from an expert but for me the blade type & size is determined by what I want or need the bait to do or 'be'. Each type, size & shape blade can have a different vibration, a different flash, and a different amount of 'lift'. Even the material the blade is made of or if it's painted or not, will determine what you get, see & feel when you fish it. Knowing what each does, when paired with different size & weight spinnerbaits is sort of an 'art' and often comes by quite a bit of trial & error. For example - Willow blades usually offer the least lift but spin fast and easy. Colorado blades offer more lift, more thump or vibration, but spin slower. Indiana blades can be somewhere in between these two. Once one begins to manipulate blade size - bigger / smaller, can and usually does, change some of what's described above. Going way too big on blades often results in a bait that doesn't run 'true' or straight. While drastically reducing blade size may offer very little in the way of vibration or flash - which depending on the situation could be a good or a bad thing. Megastrike has IMO a fairly mild scent - if there is one at all. It has a gel like consistency below @70 degrees and above that, it seems a little more like a medium liquid. When it gets hot (insert Mexico) you'll be dealing with a thinner liquid. (Tossing it in the cooler is the deal) Regardless of the temp - the stuff works for me. And one BIG benefit IMO, is that it makes my bait 'slippery' - love everything about that. That said, I apply it with my 'non-reeling hand' and always have a micro fiber rag handy to wipe off. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. A-Jay

@fishballer06 Nailed it. Additionally, I do not care what it smells like to me - bass aren't smelling this. They EAT it. And that's all that matters in my world. Just ask @Bobby Uhrig he'll tell ya. A-Jay "MegaStrike Fish Attractant is comprised of the proper balance of Amino Acids and Proteins to make the fish strike, hold onto, and consume our product. MegaStrike is scientifically formulated to work in conjuction with the fish's chemo receptors and olfactory glands using the exact combination of the fish's life-yielding provisions." https://www.megastrike.com/fishattractant

  15. Thank You Sir ~ Unfortunately the coming week's forecast does not look promising. Plenty of Snow and an early Arctic Blast will most likely keep me on the beach. Be nice to get something that looks & feels like a warm up sooner rather than later . . . . . A-Jay
  16. That shot is from a few years back ~ Judging from the lake & the bait selection pictured, I'm guessing it was something Bronze. Might have been this one . . . A-Jay

  22. Earlier this morning I had dropped the Lund Pro-V Bass boat off at the dealership for ‘winterization’. In an effort to immediately lift my spirits, I decided to load up the Old Town canoe for a brief afternoon adventure out on Lake Minichuck. It’s how & where it all started for me here in the north woods. A-Jay
  23. "Terrific, thanks again for your input! I had one final question of you about a different subject if you'd be so kind. In the past I have read how much of a proponent you are of using quality PFD. I wondered if you would check out this question I posted a few days ago and give me any option or advice you might have". My advice is this - having a properly fitted, quality, dependable & effective Life Jacket in a must, especially for children where fitting them correctly can be challenging. I would not place my children in a self-inflating model - when worn & fitted properly, the standard unit works perfectly without any intervention EVERY TIME. That's peace of mind for me. What you wear is up to you. I chose Mustang survival products as I have a long personal & professional history with their products. Life Jackets are not an item I bargain shop for. I get the Best because I'm worth it. YMMV A-Jay
  24. I have not recognized any difference between the black ones & the red ones. Both sharp and I use them right out of the package. When there is a need for touch up - and I do it often, I use this one https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Cuda_425_Marine_Knife__Hook_Sharpener_/descpage-CKS.html I have a model that's at least 10 years old now and it's got a blue handle; but I think it's basically the same deal. A-Jay btw - rather than hoping I see your thread, just pm me or add one of these deals to your post @pauldconyers but with @A-Jay
