  1. Same Hook - just red. Catches a ton of fish for me. Some of them are pretty decent too. A-Jay https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Mustad_KVD_Elite_1X_Strong_2X_Short_Shank_Treble_Red/descpage-MKVR.html
  2. Loading the Old Town Right now and heading to Lake Minichuck ~ Did I mention that it's snowing ? ? ? #crazyforbrownbass . . . A-Jay
  3. Nice - and 90.6 feet per second is nothing to sneeze at either. A-Jay
  4. Maybe you're not holding your mouth right ~ ? A-Jay
  5. These come through bottom cover better - It's all about the position off the line tie ~ https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/catpage-FREEHJ.html?from=basres A-Jay
  6. My Tungsten head of choice is this one ~ https://www.tacklewarehouse.com/RPE_Tackle_Tungsten_Swinging_Football_Jig_No_Hook_/descpage-RPEFJ.html I can get in bulk and it's a bit of a diffrent design. A split ring on the front also keep the head from 'sliding up' and pinching the line / knot. A-Jay
  7. Yes - That and the knot gets a little less beat up A-Jay
  8. Perch & crayfish carcasses routinely adorn my live well after a decent day on the water introducing myself to the local smb population. And on the more unusual side, this fish was literally gagging on a gullet full of plastic baits . . Weird. A-Jay
  9. That's the Magic - In the coldest water, I have my best success lifting the bait slowly enough to where I can almost count each vibration the bait makes as it moves. Think about that for a second. Imagining that I only want 4 or 5 vibrations, that can only happen if I only lift it 6 inches or less. Big movement will get bites, but subtle is the deal. Perhaps watch how these bass look & act like under the ice. (video clip below) Super early & late season soft water temps are only a tick warmer than this - so it may stand to reason that a bait may need to be / appear easy to eat to even draw interest. I learned a ton from watch this especially regarding how important it is for me to slow down. And when I think I'm fishing slow - to go even slower in cold water deals. btw - the angler here Aaron Wiebe of uncut angling is a fairly unique human - but I do like his style. Hope that helps A-Jay
  10. I have not- The bass I'm targeting may not be concerned with or even have much competition. A-Jay
  11. Yes she most certainly is. A-Jay
  12. Don't know how I missed this one ~ Looks like your son is growing up to be quite a hammer. Nicely Done to you both. A-Jay
  13. I prefer to use the reel's gear ratio work with me rather than against me. So I use slower, (5.3.1 - 5.7:1) - medium (6.3:1 - ish) and faster reels (7.3:1 and above) as the presentation & technique dictates. When I'm doing it right I can reel at the same cadence and just change rigs to get what I'm looking for or need. Additionally, I would much rather reel a slower reel fast or faster, as opposed to a faster reel slower. For instance I 'burn' spinnerbaits with a cranking reel. Depending on the bait, the blades can & do offer a decent resistance, especially at speed, this makes it easy to turn the handle fast and I can do it all day without wearing myself out. A-Jay
  14. Yes ~ For an 'open hook' presentation, I use a 3/0 or 4/0 Owner Jungle Flippin' Hook. It’s thin & stout, has a decent keeper and is just about perfect for this. A-Jay
  15. A lightly weighted Texas rigged worm or stick bait on spinning gear. Rig is easy enough to learn to handle & cast. Bait is heavy enough to cast but light enough to still allow for easy bite detection. Lastly, it's nearly impossible to 'fish it wrong'. A-Jay
  16. LOL ~ Yea that should have been likelihood - Fixed it. May is looking a long way off right about now - ? A-Jay
  17. Nice ~ My schedule is some what similar. However, the word dogs appears quite a bit in mine as well as the term snow removal . . Have a safe winter Sir. A-Jay
  18. No doubt - but it's a little risky booking when there's a likelihood of snow. Great to get out of it but it can jack up travel plans like no bodies business . . . (No sure what that means but my MIL says it all the time . . . ) A-Jay
  19. I Know it's Halloween - But it's beginning to look a lot like Christmas A-Jay
  20. Congrats to the Washington Nations 2019 World Series Champions ~ The Washington Nationals were trailing until they weren’t. They were, true to form, down but not done. The late-May misfits and National League Wild Card Game winners roundly expected to be a quick October exit had, with one swing of the bat from the 36-year-old Kendrick, taken the lead they would not relinquish in a 6-2 victory in Game 7 of the World Series against the Astros on Wednesday night at Minute Maid Park. They claimed their franchise’s first crown and completed a clean sweep for the road clubs in a first-of-its-kind Fall Classic. Wow - very exciting - and I did not have a dog in the race just a Baseball fan - A-Jay
  21. We're getting a 'wintry mix' of rain, snow & a little sleet right now ~ The Camo Crowd will be very happy. A-Jay

I have to wonder what type of human feels the need to do something like that. What happens in a man's mind where that pop's into it and he thinks "That's a Great Idea". . . . Just makes me shake my head. Not nearly as costly - While out on the lake, I recently had the pleasure of having some fine local resident jump up & down on a trailer bunk board until it snapped in half. Seems the Crazy Chromosome is spread far & wide. Wish my Humminbird could detect that ! A-Jay
  23. While I do remove my gear (mostly to enable effective cleaning & for simple maintenance) otherwise, I don't see the advantage; unless one's looking for a hernia. Mine rig sits warm, cozy & plugged in the entire hard water season. YMMV A-Jay
