A-Jay's Inaugural Ice Out / Open Water Countdown Thread ~
Well Congrats and best of Luck with all of that. Your timing is impeccable too. Sometimes life comes at us pretty quick, other times, not so much. Seems in your case it's a lot of BOTH ! Stay the course my friend as the reward for all your relocation efforts will be plenty. Like a New Rig on "Golden Pond" (can't call it Menderchuck, that one's taken). A-Jay

Where to trade in rods/reels?
You can always offer your pre-owner gear for sale here in the BR Fishing Flea Market Forum. I've bought as well as sold, several items here and the experience has always been positive. As for 'getting what they're worth' - used gear's exact sale price is only determined once it's sold. Once you include shipping charges, especially on rods, there is a decent chance your 'profit' might be a little less than you'd hoped. But that's just the deal - sellers want more and buyers want to spend less. Instead of getting caught up in all that, I prefer to offer 'deals' that capture the very essence of the "Flea Market". Meaning, I already used this stuff and if I don't sell it and I'm not using it, it just sits there. So I like to offer my still totally usable & well maintained gear at a very attractive price ~ I call it stupid cheap. Stuff sells, (usually right away) someone gets a good deal and I'm on to the next thing. If it doesn't sell - I'm asking too much and continue lowering the price until it does. I recover some funds & usually have a little fun doing it - otherwise what's the point ? Good Luck with whatever you decide. A-Jay

Nice ~ Don't feel too bad - there's sort of a sliver lining. Think of your favorite lakes - the ones with the most & Biggest Bass. Now imagine that they are all Closed to all fishing & boating for at least 5 months. And once it opens - the very day , the very second - YOU get to be the first & Only dude fishing them - for the first 2 weeks - At Least ! Often results is a couple of memorable outings. Admittedly it's a bummer while it's frozen, and the waiting can be brutal but once it melts, It's a Beautiful thing. A-Jay

Thanks for the support I certainly appreciate it. A-Jay I saw that you guys were getting it pretty good. You know it will most likely be gone soon. I'm pacing myself on the gear cleaning but you know you nailed the rest of it. As for trips south - locked in for another fall trip in 2019. Can't start thinking about that one just yet - might get the yips. (yea, I I I don't know what this is) A-Jay

A-Jay's Inaugural Ice Out / Open Water Countdown Thread ~
OK ~ I guess it's time. I'm selecting 15 April 2019 as my "I hope the ice is gone" date. While this date is a full 2 weeks earlier than 2018, it's a full 2 weeks later than 2017. So I'm splitting the difference and we'll see what happens. As of today, I'm looking at 127 days or 4 months & 6 days or 18 weeks and a day. Either way, it is what it is and I'm hunkering down (although I'm not quite certain what that actually means, I'm doing it). Please feel free to add your comments, support, and yes, even the jabs; as I know they're inevitable & usually quite entertaining. And while you're at it, perhaps even add a few pics of recent catches. All of which may help to pass the time . . . . A-Jay btw- this is what Lake Menderchuck looked like on 21 Apr 2018 - hoping for something a little earlier.

Where to trade in rods/reels?
@Alec McMillan ~ American Legacy Fishing Company's Xpress Rod Trade-In Program allows you to upgrade your old rods or reels, and turn your unused gear into store credit you can use for anything on site or in store. I have not used it but here's more info: https://www.americanlegacyfishing.com/trade-in-program A-Jay

*** URGENT DOG FOOD RECALL ***
CAUTION — ONGOING SITUATION Last Updated December 7, 2018 December 7, 2018 — The FDA is alerting pet owners and veterinary professionals about recalls of several dry dog foods after receiving complaints that dogs eating the food experienced vitamin D toxicity. Testing found that samples of the affected foods contained as much as 70 times the intended amount of vitamin D. Very high levels of vitamin D can cause serious health problems in dogs, such as kidney failure or death. Veterinarians should be aware that vitamin D toxicity may present as hypercalcemia, similar to dogs that have consumed a rodent killer. At this time, the only pet products that are affected by this recall are foods made for dogs. This list includes many very common & popular brands and the list is expected to grow as the testing continues. List is in this link ~ https://www.dogfoodadvisor.com/dog-food-recall/dangerous-levels-of-vitamin-d-discovered-in-several-dog-food-brands/?fbclid=IwAR35PGN7f1OuHsNc0afudyOln4oixvlg9UvfzP-2WCmEDmzCXVfsBN8tBWw Several years ago, we started retaining dog food bag UPC labels (including lot numbers) until the bag was expended - just for these situations. Otherwise it's hard to know if you've purchased tainted / recalled food. ☠️ A-Jay

Re-powering the Lund 1875 Pro-V Bass Boat
Yup ~ And I'd be very careful placing the stern of any vessel into even a moderate 'current' - I'd never recommend that in a river. Ever - Big No-No. With a Talon and especially with a regular anchor rig. Other than forgetting the boat plug - it's fastest way to fill your rig with water & even capsize it. A-Jay
