  1. Started throwing this one from O.S.P. last season. I was looking for something different and perhaps a little 'smaller' This model has a clear blade & a smaller profile overall. A little hard to find but has been a good producer for me; especially on cooler, clear water smallies. A-Jay http://www.osp-lures.com/product/o-s-p-blade-jig/
  2. This 2nd day weigh-in is a darn Marathon ~ ! This could still be decent entertainment with way less anglers. Not to take away anything from everyone who has qualified to fish - but more is often not necessarily better. A-Jay

  5. Weighing down a spinnerbait is one use ~ I use solder A-Jay
  6. Most of the guess work has been taken out of it for us. Although Minimum Buoyancy levels should suffice, where & when one may desire a higher float factor, those options are available as well. http://www.uscgboating.org/recreational-boaters/life-jacket-wear-wearing-your-life-jacket.php A-Jay
  7. Excellent Question - and you are correct in that inflatable Life Jackets do not carry speed ratings. I did not indicate anywhere that they did. Where one inflatable design could be better suited for a certain application lies in the chassis design. Models that include an integrated sailing harness that includes stainless steel D-rings for attaching a safety tether probably shine as an Offshore Sail life jacket. One that incorporates a 3D chassis, is built to reduce drag and stay put at high speeds may be more suitable for a vessel with a planning hull and a high horse power out board. A-Jay
  8. https://www.westmarine.com/buy/west-marine--offshore-automatic-inflatable-life-jacket-with-harness--14897433 If this is the product being referenced - It's designed for sailing. Offers NO Speed rating. A-Jay
  9. Warming up each day - 70's there tomorrow. Bet they hammer them Saturday. Size may still be an issue but 3lber's will be like 'gold'. So different (super muddy I mean) from anything I'll see early season. Fun to watch though. A-Jay
  10. Nothing for me from this one. Still have plenty on the ground from the last few. Either way, I'd be OK if it warmed just a little - say anything above zero at night and perhaps some double digit day time temps . . . Watching & listening to the B.A.S.S. Boyz is a nice way to pass the time. A-Jay
  11. Hello and Welcome to Bass Resource ~ Hope you get what you need. A-Jay
  12. Thanks Sam ~ That's a seriously tempting list right there - and if I put that in my house, I can admit it'd be a challenge not to indulge. Truth is - I don't. Good way for me to stay clear of counter productive items is to not have that type of temptation with in reach - out of sight - out of mind sort of deal. Keep at it and best of luck reintroducing yourself to your feet. A-Jay
  13. Interesting perspective. Here's mine ~ Quality is never an accident. It’s always the result of high intention, sincere effort, intelligent direction and skillful execution. It represents the wise choice of many alternatives. The bitterness of poor quality is remembered long after the sweetness of a low price has faded from memory. A-Jay
  14. Buy a new one. A-Jay
  15. Spinnerbait Preference: Durability or Vibration? Neither. For me it's all about Catchability ! Clearly I'm not looking to throw $$ in the lake but the fact that a bait is getting bent up MEANS - you have the right bait. Perhaps increasing your inventory would help. Having another one ready to go can be good. The trick is - to replace it BEFORE you lose the fish of a lifetime on one. (btw- my PB smallie and first double digit largemouth both came on a spinnerbait) A-Jay
  16. Yea - I'm not that unhappy with what I've got. Still been able to put a few in the net and that's why I'm out there. Thanks Though. A-Jay
  17. I'm surrounded by some very good smallmouth water - most of the best largemouth waters a bit south of me. So I spend the vast majority of my time on the water chasing the brown ones. The introduction of the goby has changed many of these fisheries - in a good way it seems. As the average size of the smallies in most of the waters that have them has pretty much exploded. Fishing's not any easier, just that the bass seem to be bigger. In fact I was fortunate enough to best my personal smallmouth PB this past fall with a 7 lb plus Mutant of a smallie. I've been fishing over 50 years for that fish. Felt pretty good too. A-Jay
  18. Hello and Welcome to Bass Resource. Looking forward to reading about your adventures. Good Luck. A-Jay
  19. @TOXIC This is something I have been mulling over for a while. Your post here is right on the money. Just order two 'high speed vests' and will feel very good about wearing them while on plane. Thank you for sharing this. Here's what I went with. http://www.mustangsurvival.com/en_US/products/flotation/foam-pfds-clothing/accel100-fishing-vest-MV4620.html I'll do a brief review after a few hours on the water in one. 22. Fantastic ~ but you asked for 'any thoughts'. So that's what you got. A-Jay
  23. I don't fish 5 inch tubes with an internal weight so can't help you there. However Bite Me Tackle, makes a quality product that includes an assortment of different heads that work well with 3.5 and 4 inch tubes. A-Jay
  24. Biovex and Megastrike And the results speak for themselves. A-Jay
