  1. Hello and Welcome to Bass Resource ~ Cool Video. A-Jay
  2. Where as much of my fishing ends up feeling fairly technique specific, I haven't found one brand or line that fills the bill. That said, I do put a cap on what I'm willing to spend on each. If that were not the case, there'd probably be a lot of NRX's in the rod locker and perhaps not much else. As it stands, I'm most happy with the St Croix, G Loomis, Fenwick, Quantum, Kistler & Lamiglas casting & spinning rods in the currently inventory. They've helped me catch a few here & there. A-Jay
  3. "Is bass gear overkill ?" May depend on how & where you're fishing as well as the size of the bass you're expecting / hoping to catch. For me, Overkill - Is a State of Mind. A-Jay

  7. Perhaps just do it anyway ~ call it routine annual maintenance. Draining water in cold weather is Never a bad idea. Also if you're using gas treated with ethanol, treating it for storage may be in order; especially if you may not be running it for a while. Sta-Bil 360 is a good product (double dose for storage), as is the regular Sta-Bil (red label). Best of Luck with your fiberglass work. btw - I have a 2016 200 Opti - just for reference, are you the original owner of the 05 Opti and how many hours on that bad boy ? A-Jay

  12. When I think back to when as a boy, going through my Dad's gear. I was completely infatuated by the 'plugs'. Crazy Crawler, Glow in the dark Jitterbug, River Runt, & I think he had a wooden Flatfish in there too. Good Times. A-Jay
  13. For me, 'Casting a jig' is a presentation more than a bait. I'll cast the type of jig that best suits the situation. That could vary a bit depending on what the deal is. One 'could' use one type or style of jig for all of this but I'd equate that to using the same style & size hook for everything - really not practical in most of my applications & situations. I will say however, that in quite a few different situations - a Texas rigged plastic w/shirt is quite versatile & surprisingly effective. A-Jay
  14. Thanks - we need it. If I'm going to eventually endure the 30-40 below, we Better have snow to go with it. FYI - It's snowing on & off right now here - Nothing like 10 - 20 inches of 'occasional flurries' to start off your day. A-Jay
  15. Hope we finally get a load - my dogs are killing me & really need to pull a sled ! 18. There'a a little bit more to it (seems there almost always is) but short version is my wife (and much better half) grew up here & I was done dealing with hurricanes. A-Jay
  19. Glad to hear you're hanging in there. Best of luck with the sale of your home and for a smooth transition into your new place. The Fatties will anxiously be waiting your return. A-Jay
  20. I haven't held one (yet) but seems one change is the reel seat has gone form a Fuji SK2 split reel seat to a Fuji PTS blank-touch reel seats. I like the old one and I'm hoping I like the new one too. Old New A-Jay
  21. Grew up just out side of Boston, MA. I was a child of the 60's - Good Times. It was a much different time - nothing like today. 'The City' was just not my style and really preferred the woods & open water. In fact, I headed north to NH, ME & VT Every chance I got. After a career in the service, my like-minded wife and I retired to northern MI. It suits us. A-Jay
  22. I have not, but there's a a new Tournament Series TBC71MHXF heading my way direct from St Croix - ST Croix indicated to me that I can expect it here in Jan - I'll let you know. . . A-Jay

  24. I catch a few smallies - many that feed on crayfish. In fact my live well often looks like a grave yard. As for the teeth thing - I have never really found this to be true. If you've watched a bass take in a crayfish - there's little to no teeth involved. They suck it in - crush it inside their mouths and then down it whole. All this take place well past their 'teeth'.
