Braid guys - what's your take?
I watched much of that event on 'bass live'. Most of the coverage on Seth showed him making very short, possibly target oriented, presentations in the grass. At hook set, he was often at or very close to vertical on the fish. Most times the bass was up and out of the grass & into the boat is just a few seconds. Had the fish been a little more 'buried' in the grass, the nylon may have been somewhat detrimental as it can often get bogged down rather than cutting through it. As it turned out, seems it helped with getting bites (or at least he believed it did) and didn't seem to adversely affect the landing ratio. He did catch quite a few very respectable Green bass and even at least one brown one doing it. A-Jay

Set the hook or not?
Hello and Welcome to Bass Resource ~ Hooksets are free so - I say get your money's worth whenever the mood strikes you. Smaller than bass fish, like panfish, are notorious for 'tasting' soft plastics with little chance of getting hooked. Finally you mentioned two taps - if it were indeed a bass, the first one might have been the fish picking up the bait and the second one was the fish rejecting the bait. If @Catt had been fishing with you, there would have been a Third tap. A-Jay

Can I use 8 pound fluorocarbon on this reel
Might not be as ultra light with 8 as it would be with 6 or 4lb test. Additionally, an ultra light rod is routinely designed to cast very, very light baits - something 8lb test might not excel at. But if you keep a real low profile and most always fish after dark, The Line Police might never be the wiser . . . . A-Jay

Teddy
Thanks - Teddy's a Mix - and as a rescue (as many of our pack is) We'll never know exactly what his particular pedigree might be. Based on his appearance, stature and disposition, we're guessing some Lab, Golden and perhaps a little Dingo - OK - kidding about the Dingo part. But the reality is, at least for us - doesn't really matter. He's simply one heck of a great dog and we sleep quite well at night with him on the floor at the foot of the bed as he's a seriously situationally aware canine - who alerts to just about everything - especially at night

@12poundbass ~ Member gouger is a pejorative term referring to a BR Member who spikes the prices of Storage Space to a level much higher than is considered reasonable or fair, and is considered exploitative, potentially to an unethical extent. Usually this event occurs after a demand or supply shock: common examples include but may not be limited to sudden membership increase & or over - active poster syndrome (which will need to be covered in a separate correspondence). Post a photo a day!
I only have one (out of six) off leash dog - Teddy. He's a Lab / Golden mix and is easily the smartest dog we've ever had. Actually seems like a waste of his talents being just a house dog. But the rest of the pack has way too high a prey drive to be off lead. And with the amount of 'prey' around these parts - that's just the way it is. Make some of the sled ride interesting. We have an acre fenced in (6 ft) so they have room to stretch their legs. And when a rabbit gets in the back forty - the chase is on - good times. A-Jay

Thanks Glenn, As one who my fall into the above category, I'll be 'cleaning up' my own personal profile here in the next week or so. This will include transferring all my attachments back onto my own (separate) drive. Probably won't help that much but it certainly can't hurt. A-Jay

what a drag!
First off, Hello and Welcome to Bass Resource. There's a decent chance your post may get relocated to the Introductions thread - so if it disappears - look for it there. As for your questions - I'd start in the BR article section, There's a ton of really valuable info there - Check it out ~ https://www.bassresource.com/how-to-fish/ A-Jay

Casting Jigs
Not to hi-jack the thread but Sure ~ it's called a Parasite Clip. They are a stainless steel clip designed to secure any soft plastic bait in position on an offset hook; in any "weightless" fishing application and Carolina rigging. It prevents your soft plastic baits like worms, senkos, frogs, flukes etc. from sliding down the hook and balling-up on the hook point which seriously interferes with a solid hookset. Available here ~ http://parasiteweights.com/store/product_info.php?products_id=30&osCsid=400590ebe537f640ed062b917e0328c7 and at TW. Been using them for years and rarely fish a tex-posed plastic without one - btw here's a video of the idea I stole from you A-Jay

My apologies it's the 'My Attachments' link in your profile Catt. Mine has been totally full for a while now. I've been loading pics to my gallery / albums and posting them in the threads from there. Also, it sounds like it may not matter if your attachments are full or not - seems like during the last 'server work" the 'add attachment' link took a direct hit. A-Jay
