The Bottom Dweller features Razr Blades which are thinner, narrower cupped blades that don't cause as much resistance. Because of that, the blades have less “lift,” and the bait stays on or closer to the bottom than conventional willow leaf spinnerbaits. When I fish these baits, the heavier models allow me to fish deep & fairly fast while still maintaining decent bottom contact. When presented on the right gear, these bait will fish effectively as deep or deeper than all but the most magnum crankbaits but are a whole lot less fatiguing. So that makes them a decent option. 8. I think your point's well taken. And considering the wide range of subjects forum member ask advice on, this one might not be that much of a surprise. There's so much information available now when it comes to state & federal boating regs, it's almost too easy. Applying them to ones particular deal is where the focus probably needs to be. Either way, the pic was simply a friendly good morning. A-Jay

  10. A trolling motor is considered power so your vessel falls under the 'power boat' regs • All vessels must show required running lights between sunset and sunrise and during periods of restricted visibility. Check the Pennsylvania Boating Handbook for details. • All boats must display anchor lights when they are anchored on any boatable Commonwealth waters (except in special anchorage areas). • Unpowered boats must display a white light either handheld or installed in time to avoid a collision. http://www.fishandboat.com/Boat/BoatingRegulations/Documents/boatrecap.pdf Also I found this interesting and a really good reg. MANDATORY COLD WEATHER LIFE JACKET WEAR • From November 1 through April 30, boaters are required by law to wear life jackets on boats less than 16 feet in length or any canoe or kayak. This regulation went into effect in 2012 and is intended to protect boaters from the dangers of cold water shock if they fall into the water. Recreational boating fatalities that occur in Pennsylvania from November through April are primarily due to the effects of cold water immersion. When water temperatures are less than 70 degrees F, cold water shock is a major factor in boating fatalities. Victims who wear a life jacket when exposed to cold water have potentially life-saving advantages such as insulation from the cold, buoyancy for victims who are unable to tread water and reduced risk of aspiration of water. In an effort to reduce the number of fatalities related to cold water immersion, the Commission has amended regulations to require life jackets to be worn on small and unstable boats during the period most noted for cold water temperatures. 15. Rocco Francis Marchegiano or Rocky Marciano held the Title from 1952 to 1956 which was just a little before my time as a boxing fan. Would have love to see him fight live. Known for his incredible stamina, relentlessness, and ability to fight rough and swarm on the inside. Rocky was also famous for punching his opponents arms while they were blocking punches. Didn't score points but seemed to have a serious detrimental effect in later rounds. A-Jay
  16. I usually run the console, bow and now the 360 imaging units from the moment I launch. Every once in a while - if I'm sitting in a place long enough - I may turn one or all of them off. And here's a little nugget for you, I'm starting to believe that the 360 - attracts bass - so there's that. And then we have the "Hydrowave" - isn't that a deliberately transmitted "electronic sound" ? Who Knows. . . . . . A-Jay
  17. Hello and Welcome to Bass Resource ~ When it's all said & done there are three basic factors that you'll need to address regarding the gear you have & the techniques you want to fish with it. 1. Can you effectively / accurately cast the rig with it ? The weight you use plays a role here. 2. Can you effectively detect a strike AND then set the hook ? ML spinning gear spooled with Six pound test is often a solid rig for reel setting a small, exposed drop shot hook but you may find it a bit inadequate driving a beefy worm hook through plastic (if you Tex-pose the bait) and then into the bass; especially on a long cast. 3. Can you effectively fight & land the big bass you're undoubtedly hoping to catch, up & over or through the cover you're fishing (if any) ? My experience here says that you'll have some problems. But I think you already know that. So like many of us did in the early stages of our fishing, you can try what you've got. Perhaps catch a few and perhaps lose a few along the way. Eventually, you may end up making some modifications to either your gear or your baits so that the above factors are less of a concern which would probably improve you're overall success and satisfaction quite a bit. Good Luck A-Jay

  20. @Brett Vasel Hello and Welcome to Bass Resource ~ Most if not all the casting reels the serious swimbait anglers throw are of the wide spool variety. The Calcutta 400B for instance fill the bill there but the 5.0:1 gear ratio equates to an IPT in the low range. The new Shimano Tranx Casting Reel line certainly looks pretty beffy as well. A-Jay
  21. OK ~ Thanks. With Both Home Depot & Lowes close to each other ( and about 10 miles away in town) what one may not have the other usually does. No Menards here. A-Jay
