PBJ or Black & Blue?
Although Black & Blue is a solid producer for me ~ It is always playing second fiddle to Green Pumpkin & Brown. My home waters are all for the most part - very clear. A-Jay

Kvd line and lure freezing?
Considering the manufacturer made it a point to include a notation on the container that clearly indicates the product should not be subjected to a sub-freezing environment - A consumer could surmise that there is a better than average chance he's out the 36 quarters. A-Jay

Extended Motor Warranty
Extended Warranty Insurance is such an interesting deal. One one hand, it makes us feel good knowing that we're "covered". On the other hand, it makes us a little bummed out shelling out the Cash. And I always find it interesting how the manufacturers are so willing to "Insure" a product while it's new and not really prone to failure but that same offer is rarely available down the road when the item actually has a decent chance of needing repair. So when I look at this as a betting man, it looks like the manufacturers are betting that while the item is new - it won't fail, but they'll be happy to take my money, At the same time, by purchasing the "insurance" I'm betting that the new item will fail, so I pay. It's a tough call and a matter of what makes us feel the best about it all. For me, I'd save the $900 and put it in the bank ~ call it the "Emergency Motor Fund". Then after the warranty expires, if there is a repair need - use The Fund to support the cost. You may not ever need it for a Big Repair & could use it for whatever ~ like routine maintenance. That's my story & I'm sticking to it. A-Jay

Right off this one doesn't look very impressive but what one has to keep in mind is that I'm actually over 7 feet tall, weigh almost 500 lbs and have a Hindenburg size head . . . . So there's that. A-Jay

Paddle Tail Swimbaits
The Berkley Havoc Bobby Lane's Grass Pig Swimbait - 5 inch is effective and very reasonably priced. The Reaction Innovations Skinny Dipper costs a little more but is a solid producer as well. Both fish great by them selves and as a trailer on swim jigs and chaterbaits. A-jay

Treble Hooks
Depends on the bait and each angler has their own way of going about it. Here's mine - replace suspending baits / balance sensitive with same size & design. ~ Replace lippless, squarebills as well as Shallow, mid & deep cranks with one size up EWG's - 1x strong 2x short (shank) ~ Replace topwaters with one size up EWG's short shank but use standard gauge trebles. Is it a trap?

And don't skimp ~ Go Big ! That move may just buy you fishing Saturday & Sunday . . . and she can sleep in both days. Win ~ Win ! A-Jay

Goals for the 2016 Fishing Season
There's a strong possibility that some time come early summer, I'll be fishing from a new and more capable platform. This will mean access to several new & bigger bodies of water. Once this happens, one of my immediate priorities will include becoming proficient with the new equipment. And it's been a while since I've fished new (and especially larger lakes) and had the ability move from spot to spot & cover water, so I'll need to hone my chart / graph reading skills in advance of getting on the water and then apply effective & solid bass holding habitat locating skills. Should be fun. However, well before any of that deal takes place, there's going to be a matter of getting out into the first open water available with the Old Town and finding my first Michigan 6 lb plus smallie . . . .
