Calcutta D: I'm Looking For Opinions
Goose52 is right as usual. I do fish the Calcutta D's ~ 200's & 300's. Love'em. Do not own the 400D The 300 is used for mid sized swim baits like the Hudd 68's and I also deep crank with it when throwing the Bigger Crank baits. I highly recommend the TW Demo Program. It's a great way to try before you buy. I demo'ed both these reels and then ended up buying them. Good Luck A-Jay

Fishing & Fitness
They seem to compliment each other rather well. Helps with the hookset too. I'll admit to using rod warranties a little more often though. So here's this morning's deadlift action. 500lbs at 56 years old - feeling good. A-Jay

Fall Transition
I'm in northern Michigan. The leaves are all still very green, there's NO Color at all yet. The day time air temps are still in the 60's & 70's. The local water temps are still in the high 60's. The days are noticeably shorter and the night time air temps are considerably cooler; But Every fish (bass & all others) caught this past week has been Super FAT ! So despite the appearance of the environment not really matching what we typically think of as "Fall" - the fish sure seem to be feeding rather aggressively. There doesn't seem to be may fish up shallow yet but the deep jig bite has been very good. For me this definitely reinforces the notion (already mentioned above) that the fall bite happens before many of us realize. Get out there - so you don't miss it. A-Jay

Anchor Size For Rubber Boat?
I am not disagreeing with you Catt. I also only use the minimum length needed on my small craft. The 5 -7 rule of thumb is in reference to larger vessels. Generally speaking if your boat is big enough to where you need an actual anchor chain in combination with the anchor line - you're usually going to need the extra anchor line length. If you're using kite twine - you'll be good. A-Jay

Anchor Size For Rubber Boat?
That small inflatable craft will rarely generate enough pulling force on the anchor line to enable much "digging in" of any type anchor. Accordingly, the weight on the anchor will be what does most of the "Holding", As for design, a smooth round item is more inflatable ride friendly. A-Jay

Good Sites For Custom Rods?
Though I've never owned one, Kilter Rods will let you build Your own custom Z-Bone on their site. It's pretty $$ pricey. A-Jay http://www.kistlerrods.com/store/fishing-rods/rod-upgrades/z-bone-build-your-own-rod.html#.VfOn9jZFRvo%E2%80%8B

I Hammered a number of very respectable bass yesterday with a drop shot rage craw. Both largemouth & smallies were choking that bait down. A-Jay

It Was All About The Craw ~ Video
Firstly – I’m apologizing to my wife right now for now having my PFD on first thing in the morning. I’ll make no excuse. Got out yesterday onto one of the larger bodies of water I fish. Weather was nice, warm with a decent NW breeze. I was a little surprised to find that the surface water temps were still in the low 70’s. Accordingly the bite was still a little deeper than I expected for the second week of September with most if not all of the action coming from 15 – 22 feet. The drop shot craw and a jig & craw provided a solid one two punch; Drop shot in the open water areas and for use near cover and the jig & craw in and through the greenest deep weeds I could find. The wind blown end of the lake had an excellent bite come on mid-day. Both the Largemouth & Smallmouth were being very cooperative. Fighting decent bass on light line in & around cover (in this case 6 lb leader around deep timber) is always challenging. Over the years I’ve learned to position my craft & present my bait to put the odds in my favor. It takes some fore thought but it’s worth it. One of the advantages of the smaller boat is that once hooked up, it does allow me to quickly maneuver away from danger. Often times this means heading to deep water which on most of my home water, is often very close by. Buy loosening the drag a bit I end up “Towing” these bass a short way. This has resulted in less break offs and pulled hooks both which were the result of having to pressure bass to keep them away from whatever mess they were heading to in order to earn their freedom. Can’t blame them though, they don’t know the plan is catch & release. Here’s the best green and the best two brown bass of this trip. Every fish was Fat. Could be a banner fall. A-Jay

Getting A Bullet Weight Snug Against A Plastic Bait
When I do want to peg a weight, I'll use a rubber stop (sometimes two) the vast majority of the time. However, I do use a Parasite weight occasionally. They make both lead and Tungsten, so if you're a stout fan of Tungsten weights, you have the option. A-Jay http://www.parasiteweights.com/store/index.php

Looking For Boots/waders That Grip Algae Covered Cement
X2 ~ This Used Korkers For Years fishing at night off too many Slime coated rock jetties up & down the east coast chasing striped bass. There are a lot of imitators but NONE duplicate the effectiveness of this product. Nothing is fool proof but these are what I placed my faith (and Life) in ~ Best available. A-Jay http://www.korkers.com/footwear/fishing/casttrax.html http://www.korkers.com/footwear/fishing/rocktrax-plus.html btw - now I wear them shoveling snow off an ice covered roof - wouldn't even consider doing it without them.

Yes ~ http://www.bassresource.com/bass-fishing-forums/topic/160685-gliss-monotex-line-a-brief-review/?hl=gliss I will be adding some additional notes regarding the line's durability. After using it for a while now seems there may be a "It doesn't last" concern. A-Jay
