Diawa Aird - Bad Blank?
Rods Break - All Rods, at All Price Points. I've had $30 rods pop and $300 rods pop and some in between. It just happens - sometimes there's no real good reason - they just snap. Doesn't make it fun or less of a financial bummer. Hope you are able to replace it and your next one holds up. A-Jay

Anchor Size For Rubber Boat?
Standard numbers for anchor line length is 5 - 7 times the depth of the water. With smaller vessels in calm conditions often times less will work; especially with an inflatable ride. A-Jay

Lures Too Heavy And Slow? (Spinngerbait, Chatterbait)
Hello Tom and Welcome to Bass Resource ~ As for your question: The different level of resistance felt during the retrieve is a product of a few things. Here's a couple of the main ones ( not all inclusive & in no particular order) - lure type / design. Some lures have more resistance on the retrieve than others. The actual weight of the bait may or may not be the total determining factor - some baits just pull more. Next is the type of tackle one uses. Spinning gear generally provides a lot of feed back during a retrieve and the tackle is usually lighter. So there is a feeling that the lure is "pulling" quite a bit. Bait casting tackle is often more suited for working lures that do this. Hope that helps A-Jay

Life Vest
On board the Old Town, I keep a couple of Cabelas standard type III jackets I got when I purchased the canoe. The past three seasons, I've been wearing the Mustang HIT Inflatable Automatic PFD with no problems. One of my favorite features on this one is the Neoprene Comfort Collar ~ feels OK against bare skin and is easily wiped clean. A-Jay

Anchor Size For Rubber Boat?
Get a little 10 lb musroon anchor and 50 ft or so of small anchor line. Should do you just fine. A-Jay

Lost A Likely Pb
Bummer ~ I popped a Real Good One off myself Saturday Morning: NOTHING chaps me more than parted line. I'd be reviewing those events to learn exactly why it happened on the very bass you had hoped you'd hook. We all know there's an extensive list of "Reason" why it happens. Though we may never know for sure the exact reason or reasons, it always make me refocus myself in the attention to detail areas of my gear, terminal tackle and big fish fighting procedures. A-Jay

Dry Suit
A Dry Suit really is the way to go when the water & air temps start to dip. Clearly a serious investment but the piece of mind for you & your loved ones is IMO worth ever penny. Going without it is always going to be a roll of the dice. However, this might not be the best product to "Bargin Hunt" for. The extra few dollars could make all the difference. While in the USCG we used Kokatat ~ solid product. Whatever you decide, the "Relief Zipper" is must. A-Jay
