  1. Here are a few more....
  2. Since I have been away for quite some time here are some pics from the Potomac for ya. We have placed very well ALL year long in all of our tournaments.
  3. When Flippin grass there are certain things I look for.. 1st: I always look for breaks in the grass that leave a void... I start there if I am only "flippin" If I decide to start by throwing a frog then I follow up and type of a strike and a miss with flipping right back into the hole that was made by that miss. If I catch that fish I will stay in that area and flip all around it. If there is no holes I will grab a heavier weight (1/2 - 3/4 oz weight) and flip a bait with less tentacles which in turn allows the bait to slide through the grass better. Once I have fished that area thoroughly I grab my frog and start again. Once I get to a dock or structure I will start throwing a jig or a brush beaver, or sweet beaver. Its all up to what the FISH want. It takes along time to figure out a good pattern if you have zero confidence in what you are doing. But the longer you work on it the better you will get. Good luck!!
  4. Ive never caught a bass with eggs in it after the spawn... maybe its just those Georgia bass
  5. Just as the water begins to get above 60.
  6. I would like to know this as well I like to yo-yo them, just as I begin my retrieve i will use a steady retrieve until I hit grass. Once I hit the grass I start to yo-yo. I will pull it up just enough to rip it out of the grass. This will really help the bass react to it.
  7. Thats what they have been biting on so far.... but give it a couple of weeks and everything will change...
  8. Where do you fish?? I fish out on the Potomac in Aquia ALL the time.

  14. Great looking fish!!! At least someone likes that lake...
  15. Thanks for everyone's help on this topic maybe I can do some good
  16. Vekol, Where were you fishing?? I have a few good productive areas out there but I need more. I don't pressure the fish out there I just want to understand Aquia the best I can. I know a lot of guys don't like to give out there spots but i know we can do better then a 17# bag. If you want to hook up I'll show you some of my spots and maybe you could teach me somethings. Joe
  17. I may be way off, but the first thing that came to my mind is the fuel. How old is the gas in your tank? I would suggest putting some stabil in your fuel tank and drive the boat around on the trailer a little way so the stabil mixes good with your gas. Then take the hose that runs from your tank to your motor off and squeeze the pump about 5-10 times. then hook it back up and try to start it again. Alot of times old gas will cause a motor to act funny, especially when you said it acts like it wants to stall out that was the key. Good Luck
  18. I say "My Tournament" because I wanted to see what size bag I could get. I started my day about 11am and with-in 5 casts I had a nice 3 pounder of a tennesse shad color uncle bucks 1/4oz lipless crank bait on a 4' flat. I then fished an "***" baby brush bug fished with a 1/2 bullet weight. These were my 2 GOTO baits today. The wind was slow (thank god) so boat control wasn't on my mind like it usually is. I then started fishing a dock with a good drop-off (4' - 15') with only a small 14" fish. The river I was fishing has a 15" slot limit until 6/15 so it took me a while to get my limit. Once I moved from the dock I went to a grass flat throwing a spinnerbait with no takers, so I moved on to another ledge and again no takers. I then moved to some fallen trees in the water and I was able to catch 11 fish on back to back casts. All with my *** brush hog. I was able to cull 6 times working this pattern. Once i had fished all the trees in about 2' of water I moved to tress in deeper water in search of larger fish with no luck. So one last ditch effort to get some larger fish I moved to a bridge in about 3'-6'. I started throwing my lipless crank and I finally had anoth good keeper and culled again. I picked up my brush hog and chucked it out along the bridge pilings and I was able to cull 3 more times. Then i was about to move back to the dock where I originally started and I casted one more time and i felt a little nibble and I reeled down, pulled up just a little and the pole was about yanked out of my hand. I set the hook and I was in for a decent fight. With the water temp being about 54 degrees i didn't think they would fight very much. I was able to keep her from jumping and I was able to land this nice bass. She went 5lbs 3oz. To end the day my limit went 17lbs and 4 ozs.
  19. Micro, You need to head up to the Potomac river. I went out today and had a blast, I caught over 50 fish and culled over 7 times.
  20. Well we went out today... Had a great day!!!!! I want to post something in the outing section but maybe later. Our bag went 17.4 with a nice 5.3 kicker. We were killing them on brush hogs and rattle traps.
  21. Hey guys its been a little while but fishing is picking up out on the Potomac, I have been out quite a bite this year and we are doing pretty well averaging 12-16# bags. I need to get bag a little bit bigger. Tournaments that I am fishing in are bringing about 20+ # bags. Has anyone found a good bait that seems to realy work great? My first tournament is out of Pohick Bay next Saturday. I need some GOOD input. Then on 4-11 I have a tournament out of Aquia... Any help would be great
  22. I was reading about this bait in the March 09' Field & Stream magazine. Has anyone used these baits? They look good but I don't want to throw my money away on another lure that looks like it may work. Thanks Here is the link http://www.ngcsports.com/index.cfm#kicktail
  23. If you have never fished the Potomac.... well shallow is less then 2 ft. But I like fishing the flats just when the temp starts to get about 50-55 degrees. After that you will start having big fish up on the flats and that is the beginning of the spawn, here where I fish.
  24. Shane.. I use quicksilver TCW3 oil. It is a gray bottle and I buy it from Gander Mountain. I have the same boat you have, I don't like using synthetic oil in ANYthing that I own. That is just my personal preference. After all I do have the same boat/motor as you and **knock on wood** My boat hasn't failed me yet because of the oil.
  25. Springtime!!! Thats when you can get the big'uns
