Fish a Tiki Stick like a scum frog!
Went to my local spot yesterday, found fishing to be a little tough (cold front got us into the 50s, dirty water lots of rain and wind change, and lots of wind) I caught about 10 or so nice bass, my biggest was about 2 1/2lbs or so. Nice scrappers. So anywho, fishing slowed down around noon, the sun was high so I decided to attack the scum, caught a few on my last scum frog until I lost it (forgot to retie and on a cast it went SOARING hahahaha always retie after a fish!) So I got my mind working and decided to try a 6" Tiki worm rigged weightless with a 5/0 hook over the scum like I would a frog, and BOOM I lost 2 really nice fish. Both WELL over 5lbs (Never fish heavy cover with a medium action rod! USE A FLIPPIN STICK!!!!) but Anywho the bass were TEARING up my Tiki Stick. I would work it over the scum with slow tiny tiny twitches. Once it got into open water Id swim it like a jerkbait with short pauses here and there. Anyone try this? I suppose you could do this with any type of worm you know? The color I was using was "Christmas Tree." Basically watermellon with red flake. Give it a try in the dog days of summer!!!!!!!! Youd be suprised!

Fishing a New Pond I Found on Google Earth
No, no....no issues with keeping fish within your rights. That is your legal choice. I merely wanted to suggest to you about showing "kitchen shots" that will typically receive a BOOOOO Take a picture at the lake and save yourself some headaches on here. Friendly advice.... Roger that, sorry again for it. OK back to the fishing! I found another system of smaller canals on google earth the other night so Ima go fish it sometime soon. I'll give you guys a heads up on how it is, Ima try to bring my camera too! ;D

Fishing a New Pond I Found on Google Earth
Sorry, she was actually all spawned out, she was a tall fish but really skinny as far as girth goes. Let me assure you that theres way more bigger females in my spot. If she did have a big belly on her I wouldve let her go, but she was thinned out pretty good. Ive personally seen and counted more then 10 more big females in it, seeing them on the beds and stuff. Whats more is that I didnt pull this one off a bed, she came on a scum frog. My appolgies, I didnt think it was so wrong to keep one nice fish for dinner. I caught my limit that day but shes the only one I kept. Sorry :-/

Rage Tail Toad, techniques?
I used the search function on the forum but didnt find too much on it. I picked up a bag of the rage tail toads and have been using them on my local dredge canal (yes its stocked with quality fish) with not one hit, swirl, or anything. I been rigging them weightless with a 5/0 Gamagatsu hook and been working it like a topwater frog, jerkbait, buzzbait, and everything. The colors Ive been using are just black/watermelon belly. Maybe its just the color? I dunno... Can anyone give me some insight on the best ways to use these things? Thanks much!!! -Charlie

flukes
I agree. Weightless on a 4/0 hook. Another deadly way Ive been finding out is the zoom fluke jr's with like a 1/0 or 2/0 hook. If the bass are hitting shiners but arent schooling. Just match what the shiners are doing with your fluke and be ready for tons of hits ;D

What would you throw?

Afternoon trip
Hey everyone, well I went out today before my girlfriend got home and got on a few fish. I was fishing off the bank in the southern part of Louisiana in the dredge canals. Started throwing a 1/4oz white/chartreuse spinner bait with gold colorado blades and was buzzing it above the grass, and using an Excalibur spitting image tight to cover, any misses from those baits I would follow up with a 4" Senko. Some bass seemed like they mighta been on the beds still in some parts of the canal, and other bass looked like they were coming off the spawn hitting and bunching up shiners tight to cover. I caught four but I had probably another 8 or 10 hits, all short striking it. Largest one I caught today was probably a little over 2lbs but on the walk back to the truck I had about 4 or 5 pounder smack the spitting image twice, hooks just popped out his mouth on the second hit. Gotta replace'em! I think this board is helping me out as far as finding a pattern and finding fish faster. So thanks everyone!

Just a Rediculous Fishing Day
I dunno that sounds like a good day to me. Even when I get skunked by a friend or family member Im always stoked for them just the same as I would be if I were on the fish myself. At least you know theres fish in that spot, so go back and gettem!

Anyone else enjoy fishing in the rain?
I agree fully. Id much rather fish in a medium/light ;D rain with no wind or lightning as apposed to a bluebird day...

Not sure if I have to post an intro, so heres mine
Wow I think thats the warmest welcome Ive ever had on a message board! hahaha thanks everyone. Whats up Sam? No problem on the questions! haha but nah I live in Marrero, about a half our from Metarie and the greater N.O. I graduated from John Ehret last year. Im actually trying to find some new spots, everyone keeps buying land around here and blocking everything off, it sucks! Ever heard of Delta Farms? Or Blackwater canal in the lower Barataria area? All that areas blocked off, used to be PRIME fishing until the airboaters started wrecking everything back there with the tours. I hate it. But anywho like I said, trying to locate some new areas, any ideas? I caught my biggest bass in Delta Farms when I was about 7 years old, about 7 pounds. Id say Im way overdue for another personal best. But anyways Im rambling, thankyou again everyone! This place is cool! Oh, and hey SEAROACH! I just finished up a '55 Bel-Air for my daily driver, and Im working on a traditional '29 Model A hotrod. Enough with that though, back to the bassin!

fishing small ponds
Main thing to keep in mind with fishing ponds and small bodies of water is to downsize, thats in most cases. I fish off the bank alot here in southern Louisiana in alot of dredge canals and stuff. Alot of my bass come on broken back Rapalas and the smaller Senkos and jerkbaits (3"-4") Good luck!!!

Hey everyone, my names Charlie. Im 19 years old and have been bass fishing since I could walk. I got out of it for a while to focus on other hobbies (building hotrods) but Im getting back into the swing of it. Im located in New Orleans and fish alot of swamp and marsh type terrain. Im working my way up to upgrade from my 14 foot flat to something a little bigger haha. Thanks everyone, this looks to be a really nice forum and I hope to learn alot!!!
