For braid a 5 turn Uni..mono, canoeman loop knot.

Reel X oil on the bearings ,Cal's on the drag washers ,Pennzoil Marine Grease on everything else.

I looked at those acadmey rods when I was up in the pensacola , it was hard to find one that didn't have a bend it..

Not as good as the old stuff imo. I tried the slick 8 on my saltwater spinning reel, it seperated and twisted pretty bad..invisbraid or 832 braid on my reels. Did anybody see that show Beyond the Cast with JP DeRose ? He tested 5 or 6 braided lines and he comfirmed that super slick 8 was the best. No surprise there , isn't he sponsered by shimano/power pro....Com'on man !

It's all I use on my spinnig rods ,both inshore saltwater and bass..for baitcaster I still use regular power pro ,not that new stuff.

I have caught a ton of fish with them, guess I started fishing them about 15 years ago. spring and summer mainly. junbug , watermelon and pumpkin in natural lakes ,Chartreuse and pepper in phosphate pits or lime rock bottom pits..1/8oz weight and 4/0 EWG.

those line capacity figures on the shimano site are rubbish..just look at the mono vs braid comparisions ,#10 pp is 2lb mono diameter..read those numbers on there site..I fished super slick for 3 months it was the worst braid I ever used.

783C GL3 is the most versatile rod I own and its the one I fish with the most.

there are many different kinds of swimbaits , gambler big ez , sebile , huddleston ,spro bbz ,etc. if you're throwing 1oz to 4oz baits, st.croix makes a good one, mojo bass MBC79HF ($130) general rule of thumb stay within the lure oz rating on the rod.

I throw them with a CBR845 and #10 red label seaguar.

you're talking chinese to these bass guys of the north and midwest. i have been hitting the flats for two months now w/ #15 super slick , it has preformed flawlessly.I have straightened out super line gammy hooks with just a plain 5 turn uni to the hook. far as connection uni/uni ,improved albright and reverse albright works well with both pp lines..try this knot for your live bait hook ~ trilene knot.

this^ cxx is strong as a ox , but so it sufix elite, with almost zero memory.

The new Crucial rods are IM-10 like the Cumara.

the biggest difference is " x-ship " a double bearing supported pinion gear..which boils down to being much smoother under a load.

I looked at those e21 wild rods @ bass pro Saturday , one problem, that hook keeper hits right in the middle of your forearm ,on the spinning models..Like someone mentioned above the duckett rods are nice rods for the money all of the actions seem to be spot on.

You can tell that to somebody who hasn't fished for the last 35 years...Your braid most likely broke (if in fact it did break) because of something along these lines.

Make sure you have a hook tied on that if you pull hard enough it will straighten out.I use curados e's (the new chronarch) without a hitch. A baitcaster spooled with anything over #30 won't dig to bad , its not that you need #50 braid to pull a 5 pound bass out of the pads , its so the line won't dig in the spool and mess up your next cast..#50 braid wet breaks close to 100lbs no bass fisherman will ever be able to put that much pressure on his equipment without a major malfunction..Heck I grouper/snapper fish in the gulf of mexico and our reels max out @ 22lbs of drag..#30-#65 braid is the norm for bottom fishing with 10'-20' of #80-#100 wind on leader. spinning reels you can go much lighter #6-#15 braid.

st.croix customer service is one of the best in the business..make sure when you purchase a new st.croix , to register it on there web site.

uni to uni.. I use it for all of my braid to leader connections..4 turns with your leader 10-11 turns with the braid..more than strong enough for LMB.

I'm trying to find info on the warranty without much luck , does anyone on here know if the rods carry any kind of warranty ? Thanks for your time in advanced.

I will never buy vanish ,I saw my buddy lose several big snook last year with vanish fluoro leader..Meanwhile I was steady pulling them in with seaguar blue label..I don't mind spending money on tackle , where he would rather go to walmart and save a buck , he paid for it that day.
