  1. Where are the bass? In deep cover? What time of day? A smaller Colorado blade with a blue glimmer or chartreuse skirt 1/4 oz should work for you. It's matching the skirt color to the water conditions, in the slightly stained I use the blue glimmer skirt with gold Colorado blades and for stained water I use a gold Colorado blade for more thump and a chartreuse skirt. I like more thump.
  2. It's all about location and prices. Keep it affordable. Work out specials with the suppliers. Look for over runs at all the lure manufacturers. Remember it's a 24/7 store if you do it right you won't be fishing anymore if your busy you won't have the time.
  3. In the beginning in the springtime I was a pro at catching bass. Then as the grass, the submerged weeds and surface weeds took over it ruined my success. I was about to hit the panic button then I did a search for weedless lures. I have one tackle box marked weedless lures. Topwater Mister twister top prop. Shallow floating cranks over submerged weeds stop and get jiggy with over the open holes in the weed pockets. Spinnerbaits. Inline spinners Spooks and poppers. Mepps timber doodle. Drop it in the open weed pockets. Snag less Sally

Son are you shore fishing or boat fishing? Do you use spinning or bait casting reels? Baits / lures desired? Crankbaits, plastics, topwater? Hard body swim baits? Soft body swim baits? We can help you if you tell us what your looking for? Shallow? Topwater? Mid to Deep?
  5. I use a combination of brands of fishing line. My best overall brand has been Excaliber Silver Thread Copolymere Line. Just adjust your drag to the test of the line your using. I caught my PB of 10# using 8# silver thread. I caught a snapping turtle the size of my jeep 235-15 tire. With the same 8# test. I winched him in. Yozuri hybrid copolymer Vicious copolymer. I'm very old fashioned in my fishing ways when it comes to the test of the line I'm using. With crankbaits 8# test. Shallow to mid running. With deeper running cranks and topwater it's 10# to 12# test. My spinnerbaits it's 8# test 1/4oz. Spinnerbaits 1/8 - 3/16# 6# test. Carolina rig 17# test. Jigs 14# test lighter stuff. Heavier 20# test. But it varies to where I'm fishing. New places I go heavy. In thick weeds go heat and set your drag tight you have to have power to keep its head up.
  6. Anything that's affordable and has decent quality keeps saving me money so I can purchase more lures.
  7. The state record I'm after is for large mouth bass. It's 12lbs. 14oz. I'm up to 10lbs right now. I had bigger on my line but lost them. I'm so close. I see bigger bass swim by me at the droppoffs. I enjoy going fishing if I break the record that's a plus.
  8. Try lava soap it kills rashes. At least sweat and heat rashes. I think it's the lye in the soap.
  9. I have a camp deep in the green mountains in Vermont away from the farms that are near me. I have national forest on two sides of my land. Every time I cook my bacon cheeseburgers I get something BIG screaming at us. It's so loud and intense it has to be huge. When we hike it walks parallel with us. I can hear branches breaking from up on the mountain top. When we stop it stops. When we go it goes. I contacted the BFRO tv show people and they sent a rep up there. He found two possible bigfoot beds above my camp. A predator would stalk you from behind. This thing watches us. I'm not afraid of nothing on the planet. I been as close as 10' from black bears in the tall grass. I have lots more stories of encounters I've owned the land since '86. I hunt with a 338win mag.
  10. I like to use the 1/8oz & 3/16oz spinnerbaits too. The bass can be affiniky at times
  11. 4 lures? 1. BPS TOPNOCKER COLOR #25 2. REBEL BIGCLAW CRAWFISH CRANKBAIT CHARTRUESE. 3. BOMBER FAT A SIZE 05 in REDAPPLE CRAW. 4. JOESFLY 1/4oz FIRETIGER APACHE.
  12. No brainer...... The orginal 6" black creme worm. We caught more bass with this split shot rig than any other bait. It's still a number 1 bait.
  13. Someone did take my lunch and bag of chips once. But someone did steal my brother's custom built 13' harnell surf rod. We been looking for it, it's one of a kind. But never seen it yet.
  14. I use the dark green on sunny days I'm a diabetnc too. I use Amber on overcast days and for driving at night. I use the eBay glasses.
  15. I started off using the walmart bubbles pack quantum spinning reels about 15 years ago when we started bass fishing. My quantum reel on my shakespear black beauty spinning rod caught my PB of 10#. My rod didn't hold up so well catching snapping turtles the size of 235-15 car tires. This setup using excaliber silver thread line 8lb test did beach them. I never wore out the quantum reels. I purchased the complete set in all the sizes and still have them today. There's one snapping Turtle that's 4' in diameter I haven't tangled with it yet. My QUANTUM STORY, I purchase a lot of slightly outdated brand new fishing equipment from a clearing house. I purchased a Bill Dance bait casting reel thinking I would use it a little then retire it to my collection of old equipment. The inners of the friction knob was missing. I contacted quantum. The gal there says it's discontinued but she cross referenced the part numbers to a newer reel. She sent me a bag of the parts I needed. I fixed the new reel. My point is there service is awesome and you don't find too many people in a service department who know there products. I still use quantum reels and rods.
  16. My son dragged me out of bed to go fishing. He purchased me this giant comfy chair for father's day. I put my tackle box on a rock near the chair and just enjoyed chucking lures. I was in heaven being back out fishing. I'm going for PT on my lower back and it's helping a little. I accept it is what it is and need to go fishing more. I used hard body swimbaits and they look really good. My point is if you have your health pour it on and enjoy life. My spinal surgeon said I got all the arthritis and spinal stenosts at one time. It was like flipping a light switch. With luck like mine maybe I need to go to the casino? I'm not giving up yet I still have bass fishing and that new state record to catch. God bless, bigbill BTW, The new LEWS speed stick rods feel awesome.
  17. I'm fishing from shore and try to increase my numbers caught per outing. I get to fish for an hour up to two hours. I'm limited due to my health. I was up to 9 bass per outing. I was thinking that's not too bad but my challenge to myself is to do better. You said "bass per hour" I was thinking bass per trip but time can limit me I like bass per hour much better. I throw my ritual of different baits, sizes and colors till I get action. Your right about the larger lures. One day it was bigger shad raps. On a slower day I extent my options to larger baits. We know the fish are there it's just what will trigger them to strike.
  18. Match the color of the jig or go wild with chartreuse.
  19. Go to eBay and search for a LEWS speed stick. Some are $39
  20. First Modern Medicene really works. 1. My prostate cancer is in remission (radiation) 2. My sharp lightening pains going down my legs is under control. (Injections in my lower spine) My spinal stenosis is under control. 3. I have knots across my lower back with severe pain. I'm going through PT now. This cute little gal is putting me through the ropes with exercise. Overall my not giving up is paying off. After one day of exercise I can almost stand up now. I'm almost standing straight up. I'm making a comeback. With the right people showing me what to do I'm doing it. I was to the point I couldn't stand up or sit at the kitchen table. Last spring I weighed 390# by radiation time in July I weighed 345# after radiation I weighed 332#. Today I'm at 318#. I can do this. After having everything wrong with me losing more weight is easy. Here's how. Breakfast. One cup of coffee, one eggo waffle, fresh fruit. Lunch, One plain burger in the microwave. Fold it in half, cut the bun in half. One whole burger on a half bun. Tomato & lettuce. Bottled water. OR. Salami, pepperoni, half slice of cheese. One half slice of bread. A little mayo mixed with lots of mustard. Tomato and lettuce. OR Lettuce with a mix of red wine vinegar, olive oil, oregano, basil, pepper, dash of salt, garlic. Salad. Supper, One country bbq rib. Rice, salad optional. I try to make my lunch bigger than my supper or supper smaller than my lunch. No snacks after supper. It becomes so easy to do. My goal is 300# by the fall and 250# by the bass spawn. By being more active I'll be bass fishing more. I'm getting closer to that new state record.
  21. I been using moly on everything but the drags. I just purchased Penn lube too.
  22. I haven't been steady bass fishing in about two years do to my health. It's been nothing but rain. But to me when I see deer moving during the day I know the bass are on too. The rain let up yesterday and I seen a doe cross the road. Today I seen a fawn cross the road. Tomorrow I'm going to drag my body out of bed and go bass fishing. I GOTS to go.........
  23. We catch land locked salmon at Lakeville,ct. using live minnows were we fish for trout. There is an underground spring there were the fish line up in the flowing water. Inbetween the trout we do catch salmon.
  24. The 22-250 was developed for woodchuck. There hearing is so sharp if the wind is right they can hear the sear click when the gun is fired and get back into there hole before the bullet hit them. The 22-250 solved that problem. I reload for just about every caliber. I'm changing over from single ram presses to progressive presses for most of my rifle calibers and all my handgun calibers. The other bigger calibers will be done on a turret press.
  25. Do you have any wetlands with the tall grass at the open waters edge? I cast parallel in front of it making the bass come out of it for an easy meal. Any shaded areas? Fish there.
