My small hot spots are fed by springs and runoff from larger lakes. I feel it's a plus to have moving water. Next comes what is the food supply. Big bass eat panfish like bluegills, red ear, perch, dace, anything that will fit in there mouths. The overall Eco system needs to be balanced. sammiches is good, salami can be bait on a slow day, lol.

On all my plastics I use weedless hooks with the spring. The spring is closed when I cast. When I get a strike and a missed hook set the weedless spring guard comes up open. If it's still closed it may have bumped something or a bass grabbed it's tail. A shot of scent and another cast will tell.

Sauerkraut with onions and brown sugar for dogs. No bean meat chili for dogs. Mayo, ketchup. Relish mixed to taste for burgers. Caramelized onions, ketchup, paprika, salt, pepper.

Weeds, I learned a new word my first year in bass fishing. When I was catching bass in the springtime I thought the season was over when the weeds grew. The new word was WEEDLESS baits. Mepps timber doodle. Silver with white trailer, drop it in the open weed pockets. I put fished a guy using live minnows. Mister Twister toprop reel it at a slow pace or a 1-2-3 pause. It will almost go vertical on the pause but they strike it. Weedless rigged plastics Jigs break through to the bottom. Presentation is the key to success. PB 10lb LMB. 4:30/5am. numerous pickerel between 29" / 32". During the morning 9am. A crappie the size of a five gallon bucket lid. Full moon evening.

Turtles lots of turtles big and small. The fishing can be tough when the turtles are around.

I find they turn on at dusk when there eyes adapt to the change in light much faster than there prey. It's a short window of a feeding frenzy before darkness falls from shore. Around 9:30 / 10pm they feed again. This is usually a good night bite as they come near the shoreline to feed. One of my places is crowded at night. After dark it settles down. Dead silence. At around 4am I'm very stealthy as I close my car door and handle my tackle. It's very important to be quiet. The least little noise out of the ordinary can spook fish. I cleared my throat once and seen the wake of a big bass swim away on the surface. Stealth is the key to shore fishing for these big gals. I don't like to fish near anyone because I don't talk. I enjoy early morning fishing from dark to dawn I can be one with nature. I enjoy the twilight as the sky starts to light up. It's also a time to scope out the topwater action in the pads. I like to fish the edge of the pads casting past them and work my topwater bait a tad away from them not to spook the fish. When you get near the pads I slow up my speed just work it slow. At a big lake here they have a river fed kiddie pond that feeds the lake for the kids. We would drop off 2 & 3lb bass for the kids to catch. Bass aren't native here we have abandoned bass hatchery. I know where one is I was told there good sized bass still in it.

Then how did the bass and pan fish get into a mall drainage pond? How do fish get into the highway drainage ponds? Theres no running water into them. I'm thinking the ducks can carry fish eggs in there feathers? i don't have all the answers but the fish appear in these places.
