We had a online northeast mountain lion reporting sight. We had sightings coming in from all over the northeast. It was awesome. Think about it if there was recent sightings in your area or were we fished it could save you life or your families life. Do to one heckler everyone report was sent to me online. They didn't report it to the sight. Finally the heckler killed the sight it shut down. We had reports from; Wells,Maine coastal area swamp Newtown,ct New Milford, ct Lee,Mass Granville,vt We had so many reports. Just because you don't see it doesn't mean it's not out there. There's a 200lb killing machine that wants you for its play toy. My point is to be more alert in the woods.

I was logging since 1979 full time and part time between jobs. I seen more weird stuff than bf that I don't understand. Let's say I kept the saw, hot, gassed up and near me. I was asked to finish up another loggers job who left suddenly. Seen it on a few days but didn't let it run me off I had a job to do. Let's say there was 9' long x 4' wide by 3' high piles of stones, graves all lined up on the hillside above me. There was a stone wall with an opening on the trail I was logging on. I seen the air flutter as something went from the top of the stone wall across the trail to the top of the stone wall on the other side and continued on till it disappeared. Before I knew about the stone graves above me I asked the forest ranger first. He told me about the stone piles. My other buddy who lives in that area told me the history of the place says there was native Indians there years ago. I finished the job and left. I didn't disturb the graves. The air fluttered like on the movie predator. It crossed from the top of one stone wall to the top of the other stone wall never touching the ground in the opening on the trail. I was thinking if it materialized into our dimension and was near me it was sushi time with the saw. I have no clue as to what it was.

In the Apple orchard I would cut up apples to cover my scent. In the pines I would slice a branch so the pine scent would cover up my scent. I would hang out my jacket for days with Apple's in its pockets. I position my stand down wind. We try to do it right. We even put out the real scent glands with the juice. There's a 1/2 acre of alpha hidden in the national forest near my camp. It's full of deer beds. It's close to the Apple orchards. Find the food source look for there runs. We swore there were no deer up on the mountain. There below us in the valley. There habits changed.

If you ever want to have some real competition get a few buddies. You each get a dozen of worms and have a panfishing tournament. We do this once in a while it's a blast.

Is it a dammed river that's used for water power? Look for larger areas of backwashes. Fish those. Look for points. Get a hummingbird portable cast out fish finder. I use a cheap used rod n reel with braided like to cast the fish finder pod out. No fish finder? No problem. Cast out a topwater popper, a spook, shallow crankbaits, inline spinnerbait, inline spinner, a jig till up get action. Even a black 6" rubber creme worm split shot rigged will work. As long as you have confidence in yourself and the bass fishing skills nothing can stop you.

Sitting at the table at 11:30pm a coyote tripped my neighbors motion light. My three feral cats were outside somewhere. So far two showed up. I'm thinking yotes hunt in packs, howling means they got something. It was quiet all night.

My $2 & $15 rods were good. But the foam upper handle cracked from flexing. These are new old stock. I won't spend over $100 on a rod. Buy what you like, you can afford, as long as your fishing. Do your own thing I do. I do enjoy trying different rods but I'm happy were I am now.
