I have two of the silver maxes and i absolutely love them. They cast light baits miles and are extremely smooth. I fished the heck out of them last year and they are still in perfect working condition. so far no complaints at all. for that price i don't believe there is a better reel, especially if you need a rod too, go to dicks and they have a combo of the reel and rod for 60 with a $20 mail in rebate. also, you can print a spend 50 get 10 off so it ends up being 30 for both the rod and reel. Highly recommend it!

in terms of using a baitcaster, what reel have you guys had the best success with when using lighter baits?

I'm starting to accumulate my various rod/reel combos and im thinking of using my tour edition for finesse fishing and spooling it with 8# flouro. Will this be a problem?

Personally, i found using braid to work in baitcasters just fine, i actually have less bird nest problems with the braid. and i do use mono for filler just because braid is pretty expensive so you don't have to use as much. good luck!

I just wanted to see what everyone's favorite crank baits are.

I always find my self reorganizing my tackle box. Right now i have a large bag with multiple sto away boxes in it. my biggest problem is what i should do with my soft plastics. does anyone have any suggestions? is it better to keep them in their bags or is it okay to take them out and store them individually in compartments?

I'm gearing up for the 2009 bass season and just have a few questions that I'm hoping you all could help me with. When using the drop shot what is the best type of rod and reel to use. I heard that it is best to use a spinning outfit. Why is this? Personally I would rather use a bait casting outfit. Would I be successful with this? If I do use this what would be a good action rod to use? Thanks!

There are several ponds near my house where i like to go fishing. I encountered the same problem you were having. Untill i finally caught the first bass, then i seemed to have them figured out. i used a texas rigged strike king coffee tube with an unpegged bullet weight(as light as possible) pitch the tube infront of the fishes mouth and let it sit there. add little wiggles and it should intise a strike. if that doeasnt work try slowly swimming the tube infront of the bass.

i have had a decent amount of success with a wakebait. if you are looking for a change, a storm subwart may be the thing you are looking for.
