  1. I would match your lightning rod with the accurist for all around fishing. the 7ft med action uglystick with the silvermax for crankbaits, then use your spinning setup for worms. I would use the stealth for the worm and all around rods, and the mono for your crankbait rod. you can also use leaders on the braided line if you want. thats just what i would do, im sure some others will have some opinions for you. good luck!
  2. alright thanks for the input guys!
  3. I picked up a pack of the yum "creature" they look like they have great action for a carolina rig. cant wait to try them.
  4. good choice on getting one quality set up, this is going to make you exponentially happier in the long run rather than buying 2 lower quality set ups. I know you'll end up being happy with the set up best of luck!
  5. if the line guides on your rod get damaged or nicked, is all hope lost? can they be replaced or repaired? does anyone have experience with this? do you know any articles, or just have any advice. Thanks for the help!
  6. I only fish braid on my spinning reels, i primarily use 30# spider wire stealth and love it. Although I have heard a lot about fishing braid with a leader, as mentioned above, and i think im gonna get into that this season.
  7. x2 thats all there is to it. well said in simplest form.
  8. I'm looking for suggestions and info on a spinning rod that will be used for skipping, mainly senkos and other plastics. what is a good length and action for this application. Also, do you guys have any specific suggestions. Thanks!
  9. order from tackle warehouse (***.com ), they probably have all of the things you want, and when you spend over $50 they have free shipping. Their prices are low and shipping is free and fast, can't go wrong.
  10. I still use jitterbugs, they are extremely fun to fish. i still also use daredevils, I seem to always catch fish on a spoon, so when conditions get tough i tie one on. also use them for trout/salmon of a pier.
  11. I have caught plenty of fish with a silver weight in front of my plastic baits, i have caught just as many with dark colored weight, so it really comes down to confidence. If you think a dark colored weight looks better than you really should be fishing it, because with out confidence in a presentation youre not going to be able to focus as well, and will always be wondering if you would be catching more fish if you were fishing the other way. you can buy colored weights i.e. tru-tungsten bullets, they cost a little more but they are well worth it. they also sell paints that work well.
  12. looks incredible, you might be able to get the same effect with normal elastic chord, just a money saving idea. But defiantly looks like its worth a try.
  13. Tubes, Hooks, senkos, bullet weights
  14. trailer hooks can weigh down a buzz bait causing you to have to reel it faster, which can make it a little less effective, stick to cavirton buzzbaits
  15. very good for topwater, and bottom bouncing baits
  16. If you are comfortable with fluorocarbon it would be a good option, fish a 10# or 12# depending on if you are going to be fishing structure. its abrasion resistance, strength, and low stretch make it a good option for crank baits. it also sinks so it will help to get them down deeper
  17. as stated above the shimanos would be a good choice. you could also look into a revo s which would be a great alternative
  18. Mono for top water uses, unless you are throwing frogs in slop, then you are going to want a braid. but because mono floats you dont have to worry about diameter and can throw what ever # you want. you can read more at .... http://www.another site/articles/fishing-line-guide/
  19. I have heard wonderful things about the quantum energy 5.1:1 for cranking. Its light and powerful and price i'snt bad.
  20. I got the quantum energy in that color scheme, love it, works perfectly and looks amazing, for a fraction of the price.
  21. Skipping senkos for the shallower water, for deeper docks flipping jigs or shaky heads.
  22. I use the BPS XPS e-z weights and i love them, very easy to use and gives the tube a different presentation that just a bullet weight
  23. There are a lot of options with these baits, in terms of how many appendages you pull apart. What do you guys do, do you detach certain areas for certain action, for a certain technique?
  24. Has any one tried this, what do you think. I just got a spool and haven't had a chance to spool it yet, but just by looking at it and playing with it, it seems like it has really low memory and a small diameter, just wanna see what everyone else thinks
  25. I know that BPS does a reel trade in during the spring classic, but the classic this year was the last weekend in february through the first two weeks in march. They give you a set amount of money based on the value of your reel when you purchased it originally.
