  1. Looking for a rod to use for flipping and pitching as well as frogging. Suggestions between the 765, 766. Info on either or? Experiences, positive or negative? Thanks!
  2. Strike King has had the coffee scent for a few years now. I first saw it in their coffee tubes. Those tubes catch fish. Whether or not the scent played any part in this i have no idea. I have also caught fish on the coffee scented rage tail space monkey and coffee scented ocho. The baits catch fish, and all i know from this is that coffee scent is not a bass deterrent.
  3. Tacklewarehouse is holding a 'economic stimulus' sale through Monday which grants 10% off your purchase. Do you guys think this is in place of their memorial day sale, or do you think they will have one around memorial day as well?
  4. my buddy has a place on big gull, I make it up there every now and then, it's a beautiful place. The fishing is great, abundance of large and smallmouth, walleye and pike. Rent the cabin you wont be sorry.
  5. I had success with it over a 6-12 foot weed bed early in the morning, haven't really experimented with it too much. I assume it can be used in similar areas as the jitterbug. On mine the arms stuck as well, so i took a pair of pliers and gently bent out a little less than a quarter inch of the tips of the arms so that they would easily catch water and open up.
  6. PortaBote review, I only had her out for a few hours this morning but i have gathered a lot of information. It arrived in two packages, one plastic "sock" containing a bubble wrapped porta-bote and a box containing the seats, transom, oars, and bow cap. once unwrapped its basically ready to be put together. my dad and I tried to put it together, it took awhile because the back seat and middle seat are the same in the 12' model except the support brackets of one are shorter than the other, so it took us some time to figure out which one went where. Once we got it right we labeled them. This helped a lot and made our second time setting it up go twice as fast. The hull weighs 77lbs or something around that i believe, and is manageable with one person, but it is an awkward shape and is much better handled with two people, but is definitely doable solo. It can also be assembled somewhat easily by your self but is much much easier with two. Next step was packing it up and taking it to the water. The boat and seats etc, fit easily into my 2006 malibu. I had read that people would ask about the boat at the launch, boy were they right. multiple people came and asked what I was doing, but I kind of enjoyed showing it off. But anyways on to performance. we carried it to the water and got in, it was very very easy to get into. We took of rowing and noticed a few things. first even with two people and gear headed into the wind, the boat rowed fairly easily. However the oars are not the best thing, but they are about what you can expect from two piece oars. since the oar lock receptors and attached to the hull there is some flex during each row stroke, but nothing to bad especially for something as thin as the boat. One thing i suggest is to replace the bolt and nut of the oar hardware, because they are not stainless. However the transom hardware is stainless. We rowed around until we decided it was time to fish, due to the wind and lack or a trolling motor we were getting pushed around quite a bit, which brings be to my biggest concern with the boat; there is no place to tie an anchor! no cleats or anything. (this will be my first modification). We were on a small pond with a lot of downed trees so I ended up lassoing a branch sticking out of the water and gently wrapping the rope around the front seat. Now that we are fishing its time to stand up and test it's stability. I was amazed, it worked exactly as advertised, extremely sturdy, both of us could stand and move about with out and feeling in danger of falling. It can be quite weird at first though because the hull flexes under your feet, but that is how it is designed, but the bottom line the boat is very very sturdy. The boat sits pretty far out of the water and only needs a few inches of water to float in, this came in handy when moving over sunken trees. If you are looking to fish on bays or ponds and small bodies of water, and don't have a trailer, I really can't think of anything more suitable for the job. the versatility of the boat is just incredible. If you're a fisher and thinking about taking out more than one person, the 12 footer is a must, 10 would be too cramped. It is expensive, but if it holds up like they claim it is well worth it. I will post more here as i have more experiences with the boat. if you have any questions feel free to PM me, or ask on here. Hope my rambling helped at least a little, good luck with your search for a boat.
  7. I'm in!!!!
  8. I have used both power pro and spiderwire stealth, prefer spiderwire stealth, it just feels better to me. I have used spiderwire on my rods for three seasons, no signs of digging in on any of them.
  9. Thanks for the response, did you get the heavy or the med.Heavy model?
  10. A fellow member hooked me up with some quality jig heads, and i have been turning out new jigs for months now. This post is long over due but better late than never. This is only a small sample i have made over 50. Also caught my first fish of the season, one of my first jig fish, and first fish on a homemade lure on a 3/8 arkie jig last monday! also on an unrelated note: im starting to make some balsa plugs, can anyone suggest a clear coat that I can pick up at either home depot or wallmart?
  11. If no one has any experience with the 7' 6" MH or H Vendettas, do you have any suggestions of quality flipping sticks at the same price point?
  12. I bought one in march and it just got arrived at my door yesterday, I have not had a chance to fish from it, and wont until next weekend, but I will have a full report for you in about one week. Some other information, I bought the 12' model. Also similarly to you i don't have a truck or a trailer. I will let you know how everything goes.
  13. The most recent model brand new is only $100... http://www.***.com/Quantum_Accurist_PT_Casting_Reels/descpage-QAPTCR.html I don't believe they ever retailed higher than that.
  14. i've had a lot of luck with a shakey head
  15. It's all about confidence, i caught plenty of fish on green, red, black and especially unpainted. Both matching and clashing with my bait. Basically if you think it looks good, and think it will catch fish, and if you don't you probably wont.
  16. Any one have any experience with either of these rods, looking to use it for flipping and/or frogging. Thanks!
  17. Reaction Innovation sweet beavers. I'd be careful shopping on that site, it becomes quite addicting
  18. In that price range i would give the new abu garcia orra a look, I personally have no experience with them but have read only good things about them, so they might be worth a look. I have fished with the quantum KVD and loved it, had no problems with it at all.

lookin good! I just turned out my first few, awful addicting isn't it?
  20. I recently placed an order and the same thing happened to me. when i didn't receive a confirmation email, i called them up and they solved the problem within minutes... I wouldn't hold it against them, they are great!
  21. I like to use them t-rigged in 5-15 feet weed beds, killer
  22. anyone use this paint how does it compare to other brands? http://www.***.com/descpageSIP-SIPP.html
  23. What ever you do i would not suggest these, they are terrible. I got two of the one ounce and two of the 1.5 ounce... all four were terrible, the weights have sharp edges which fray and slice line. the actual weights were lopsided and not symmetrical and the hole didn't even go straight through is was curved. maybe i got a bad batch but I had to share my mistake experience. http://www.***.com/descpageVMJIG-VMSLJG.html
