Pline Halo Fluorocarbon line
I like the Halo personally. It is expensive so i only use it on my tournament set ups. I use 20lb mono for backing and use half (+/- 100 yards). I use 15-20lb Halo and haven't had any problems with break offs. It does have a lot of memory so I keep the KVD conditioner or Reel magic handy. I also use the Seaguar InvisX and really like it. It is as smooth as silk and casts really good. I use 10-15 lb on everything from shakey heads to jigs. You have to watch for knicks and abrasions with all flourocarbon. Also if you are constantly backlashing you will weaken the line when pulling those out and therefore causing breaks. I haven't had a fish break me because of the line failure but I have seen times when the line breaks due to not checking it, constantly backlashing, and or other issues related to the fisherman.

Toledo Bend Style Buck Brush
I have an old friend of mind that lives in Larry Nixon's old place. It is just north of Pendelton bridge. Anyways he used to get all gushy talking about using a heavy sinker pegged to a big craw worm and slinging it in the buck brush. I forget what he called it. Was this just one of his deals or is this a common technique down yonder?

Falcon Customer Service - Am I over reacting??
I work in North Texas and will hopefully be home Monday. I'll be sure to take and post pictures. I will no doubt have to call Monday and see when it will be shipped. I'm sure I'll have to pay another 21 bucks to get it back but that's fine. Just send it back!! I will update and post pics after I do get it back. Then it will be over. Falcon has been doing business a long long time and in order to that they have been doing something right besides building quality rods. I have seen a lot of posts lately regarding returns & warranted products. I am disappointed at how my ordeal has turned out and could understand if it was a ten dollar rod from Fred's or Dollar General Store. Thanks for the replies - Ryan professional fishing tackle buyer

Falcon Customer Service - Am I over reacting??
You are exactly right! Pics would have been obviously a wise idea. I haven't claimed to be the smartest in the world. I just figured it was obvious with a reel and they would see it! There wasn't any back and forth it was me contacting them to 1) see if they received it 2) to see if they had a chance to check it out 3) to call back to see if the BOSS had checked it out. Anyways they couldn't find anything "going on" with it and "We're just gonna have to ship it back to you." That's fine and dandy why can't you call me or email me as soon as you come to this conclusion. Send it back as soon as you reach this conclusion and I'm good. Keep an eye out for some Falcons for sale next week folks. I am going to track down my packaging slip from December (IMX / Cara) and see if Tackle Warehouse will take it back and if not I am going to keep it because I can't sell the rod knowing what I know about it. Again thanks!

Falcon Customer Service - Am I over reacting??
How do you become one these?! No need to be in a rush young man. It just happens and when it does she'll let you know. Why does it happen? You run out of the one and only thing they'll bite is one of the main culprits (did he say Culprit.....see!). You'll be able to look back at the times you were going for one color and bought every variation of that color in the same bait plus the size above and below it. Or other times when you said they wouldn't bite this so I am gonna buy this. It just happens lol How do you become one these?! ;D

Falcon Customer Service - Am I over reacting??
Well I haven't received a call or an email letting me know what the BOSS thinks about the rod. Maybe they actually took it fishing. So I am going to call in a few minutes and see what the deal is. I am thankful for message boards like this just because it provides a little back up. After I am done I am going to email them a link to this post and hopefully they'll realize that by messing with one guy they are actually messing with a bunch of bass fishing when they should be working tackle buying hamburger helper eating folks (I am going to wait until I get my rod back first 8-). We shall see and thanks again for replying. Here we go!

Falcon Customer Service - Am I over reacting??
I put 2 of my reels on the rod. I already had the Revo on it when I noticed it. I played with rod seat to see if it was just me. Then I put a Chronarch SF on it and you could really tell. The main thing is if they don't think its messed up email / call and say we didn't notice anything with the rod, and then send it back. I wasn't asking for refund or an exchange. I have 3 Lowriders and haven't had any problems out of them. I like them but this Cara had something going on. He said they put a reel on it did they cast it or not and look at it from all angles dunno. I would like to think. I bought my first IMX here and received another for Xmas. When I fished a tournament in January I used them, a crucial, and some Falcons. I honestly couldn't tell the difference between the Crucial and the Loomis. I ended up breaking the tip off of the Loomis after getting hung up under a duck blind. The bait pulled free and the rod slapped the calon and that was that. I sent them 50 bucks and got a new one in less than a week. I like them but not ready to make the total change over. I like the Crucials especially for what I paid for it. I'll call tomorrow morning and get an update.

Falcon Customer Service - Am I over reacting??
Just a brief update on Falcon Customer Service. I replied to a Which Crankbait Rod post on here. I received a Cara 7'3" Deep Diver special for Xmas. I used the rod and it wasn't casting a DD-22 as well as it should have. I fished with it for just a few casts on three separate trips. I sent this rod in March 1 and paid extra for delivery to Falcon by March 3 in hopes I would get it back March 5. I contacted them via email them to see if they had received the rod (no biggie). They confirmed they had received it and said that they didn't see anything wrong with it. They asked what the problem was and I replied back letting them know that I wasn't getting distance and that I noticed my reels were cocked to the side or not aligned properly when placed in the reel seat. There was no reply Friday, Monday, or Tuesday. I called and spoke with the warranty representative today and he said he didn't see anything wrong with it and neither did his boss. He had looked down the eyes and everything. I didn't notice it either until I put new line on one of my Revo Premiers and had it facing away from me. Anyway he was begrudgingly gonna run it by his boss once more and see what he said. I would have no problem with this you know if they didn't see anything wrong with it but LET ME KNOW SOMETHING. Emails work both ways. I know they may be loaded to the hilt with other problems but take care of one at a time. Don't treat me like I am trying to get over on you. I felt resistance on their behalf. Customer service should to wanna help (or give the impression) instead of resisting to do the same. I told him - I will put it on eBay and be done with it as well as the other 3 Falcons I have purchased recently. I guess I will wait and see. Wonder if they will pay the extra shipping to get it back. I am a professional fishing tackle buyer and wanna be professional fisherman (lol). I have been leaning towards the Falcons and Shimano's to finish upgrading for this year. I have 2 IMX's, 3 Crucials, and 4 Falcons. Carrot Stix and All Stars are gone now I have to see how this goes before I give up but it ain't looking pretty. Am I over reacting??

Caddo River & Lake DeGray
How did you do? I have been to Degray only for a recreational weekend or so. Its pretty and apparently from what I have been reading on Get 5 they have a very healthy populations of fish. I am coming up there in May. Will the bass still be spawning or will be mostly post-spawn?

Looking for new Deep Cranking rod.
I recently purchased the Falcon Cara 7'3" DD22 special. I sent it back due to the reel seat not being aligned. It is currently in the return process. They received it Wednesday so we'll see meanwhile I used the 6' 10" Lowrider teamed with Revo and it will launch a crankbait but I am not sure about fishing it all day because I'm primarily a junk fisherman these days and always have 4 + rods on deck it seems.

Ike stayed in one spot for 3 days during last years classic lol. Based on the season I had last year my strategy this year is to get 5 anyhow anyway lol. "Fish the moment". After every tournament most are asking (myself def. included) the same questions. Shoulda Coulda Woulda's :-/

Yum Money Hound?
Haven't used it yet but it reminds me of a guided trip to Lake Fork in the early 90's. We used something similar called a Fish Stick same profile but smaller. We were targeting bedding bass in 8 -12' of water. His instructions to us were "let it sink to bottom and just inch along if you feel resistance like grass etc. When you don't feel anything leave it there as long as possible and when you feel a thud reel down and set the hook." We were told it was in a bed. We caught a bunch of good fish but I haven't seen anything that resembled Fish Sticks since then. These may do it but I'm sure techniques discovered since then cover that kind of fishing.....

What's the farthest you've seen?
However far it is from Cooter's Pond ramp to the dam or lock on Alabama River was too far for me. We had practiced out of a different ramp and come tourney time it took an hour 15 minutes to get to our "spots". We finished dead last too hehehehehehhahahahha --

new BPS carbonlite rods LOL
Picked up a 7' MH Crucial from Gander $75 regular 150. I have recently purchased 2 IMX and this feels as good with out a reel on it. My first outing coming here soon so I'll see what they all are about. GANDER has a heckuva sale in Sherman, Tx. I popped in just to see about a spinning reel. They had several brands on sale 50% off. I ended up getting 2 a President & Supreme 1/2 $$$$$$$ instead of getting one Stratic.

Yellow Magic Japanese Popper
Out fish Pop R's and catch good fish with them too. I personally change the hooks to a larger size and I like to put one of the VMC Sure sets on the tail end with a feather on it. The top portion of the bait is wider than the hooks meaning sometimes they blow up on it and when I'd set the hook (with the factory hooks) it would be nothing but air. Well the hooks are what I blame for it anyway. I like the Tennessee Shad and the Bone 1/2 oz. They have them at bass pro - cant post active link yet sry.

Bass Fishing on TV???
They are not exploiting LMB on television fishing for sure. If you have DVR you end up with the same show recorded several times over and if you don't have DVR you watch when you can. Personally I'd like to see a Bass fishing channel NOT (no offense) saltwater adventures, not catfishing, muskie, walleye, pickerel (jackfish) etc etc. I know we spend as much as hunters do and can impact communities the same. Personally I wouldn't mind seeing amateur partners or singles fish a one day tournament. Include a 10 minute clip of the lake while they're prefishing. Put a map up like Zona does during the Classic. Lets hear what they say about weather, water conditions, moon phase, seasons as related to bass etc etc. Show them expressing their thoughts and ideas as to what they need to do to catch the 5 best they can. Then show a 5 minute clip of preparations before the tourney ie tackle / boat prep / what holes and why. Then show some highlights / results of the actual tournament day. Maybe have a professional from the area break it down as they go and relate to the viewer how they would approach this lake tournament etc etc. A competitive league as a lot of us fish would be interesting to watch and keep up with standings or points etc.. Follow some young guys as they try to "make it" if its reality shows you like, college, or even dueling fishing guide services. The avg show fishes with something they need to sell meaning they go somewhere that the bite is on or edit to make their product look good. Here's 30 minutes of me ripping lips swimming iguana tails on a pond whose bass have never seen a bait. Or here I am applying this to my nose and this is the shirt I wear while using this iguana tail. My point is there are many many situations and toe nail biting moments that happen which imo have not been way exploited or covered enough. Sometimes just getting to the ramp is interesting for some us. That's just my 2 cents but Bass Champs is favorite show to watch these days I reckon.
