  1. Was planning on sleeping in now that I can but I'm sure we can work something out.
  2. I got laid off from my job yesterday. The good news is that this gives me more time to fish. Looking for people to fish with during the week. I have a boat. Usually take it to Kingston Lake or Big Island Pond. PM me if any of you have free time and are looking for someone 2 fish with during the week.
  3. Funny that you mentioned the Fenwick Elite Tech. I just upgraded my bass spinning rod from a Fenwick to a Dobyns rod. Was looking at that Elite Tech last night. Anyone here own one that can tell me how it performs?
  4. Hi all, I am looking to start fishing for trout. I am looking to buy an ultra light spinning rod. Will be putting a Pfleuger Supreme XT 9230 size and will be using 4lb. Floro. Plan on using mostly inline spinners, spoons, as well as other light lures. May occasionally through on some power bait. What rod would you recomend for $150 - $200. Will be fishing streams, rivers, and lakes. Needs to be a two piece because I plan on brining it hiking and camping. Thinking 6 1/2 feet long so it's not too big when casting from shore around trees and other obstacles. Thanks in advance for the help. Jay
  5. Thanks ghoti and everyone else. Great advice. Going with size 30.
  6. Thanks for the replies. Was still waking up when I wrote that post. I did mean Supreme. I currently own the regular Supreme in size 35. Looks like the XT versions hold less line than the regular ones. That is why I was worried about going down to the 30 with the XT.
  7. Hey all. I just recently bought a Dobyns Champion Spinning Rod 683SF. This rod will mostly be used for fishing weightless soft plactics and small jigs. The line I currently use is Yo Zuri Hybrid #6. Was thinking about trying out #12 Nanofil. I decided I want to buy a Pflueger Xtreme XT reel for it but am having a hard time deciding what size to go with. Would you guys go with the 9230 or 9235 for this rod. Want it well balanced and want to have enough line capacity but not too much because if I like Nanofil, it is expensive. Thanks in advance for the help. Trying to make decision today so I can grab it on sale for $130. Jay
  8. The writing on it looks blue to me. Think it may just be a bad pic of it I'm looking at. Patriarch looks nice. Worth the extra $50 though? Looks like same knob. Could always try to find it on sale. Any other reel recomendations for this rod $200 or below?
  9. Thanks for all the advice guys. I went ahead and bought the Dobyns today. Cost me $143.99 with free shipping. Figured this is the better rod for my style of fishing and is a lot better on my wallet. If anyone is interested in the G Loomis, PM me and I will tell you where I found it. Now it is time to upgrade my reel. Currently have a Pflueger Supreme 8035 which I have been very happy with. Would like to down size a little. Holds 200 Yards of 8lb. test. Plan on trying 12lb. Nanofil soon. To expensive to be putting that much line on the reel. The Supreme XT looks nice in the 30 size. Anyone know if this will match up nice with my Dobyns? Has some blue on it which will look nice with rod I think.
  10. I will have to try that out nhbassin. If weather is good this weekend, I will give it a shot and let you know.
  11. O.K. I found a Dobyns Champion Spinning Rod 683SF on sale for $145. This is much cheaper than $325. Think I'm gonna have to pass on the NRX and go with the Dobyns.
  12. Having a hard time making a decision. Would an Avid (which is much cheaper)geared towards weightless soft plastics be a better rod than this one for me? Maybe I could just start putting all my plastics on shakey heads Hard deal to pass up but it isn't exactly what I was looking for.
  13. I have been looking at upgrading my spinning rod recently and decided to go in to a local store today to see if I would like the feel of a split handle grip that I see on all the higher end rods. While in there, I saw a G Loomis NRX 822S SYR rod on clearance for $325. It was the only one they had left. Was originaly only looking to spend around $200 but this looks like a good deal. I fish weightless soft plastics 90% of the time (Fat Ikas, Senkos, Kreature Baits, Space Monkeys, Rage Shads, Flukes, etc.) This rod is designed for shakey heads though. Will this rod be good for fishing weightless soft plastics as well as what it was designed for? Or should I be looking at other rods? May grab it after work tomorrow. Also, what does Mag-Med mean as opposed to Medium with G Loomis? Thanks in advance. Jay
  14. Dam Shane. I need to go fishing with you sometime. I will be heading up to VT this Thursday for a fishing get-a-way. Will be fishing Lake Champlain. 1st time fishing there. Hopefully I'll have some pics of some pigs I can post when I get back Sunday.
  15. I went camping a few times there and fished from shore. Did catch some smallies at night but they were small. Sure you could do much better there on a boat. Plan on bringing mine there at some point this year.
  16. Went to Kingston Lake last night. Got there an hour before sunset. Caught 3 bass on my 1st 4 casts. Then when the sun set the bite seemed to die completely and I only got 1 more bass. Pics of the biggest (4lbs. 2oz.).
  17. Hey Matt. I was focussing more on my boat that day than fishing. 1st boat so I was trying to learn everything I needed to know. Did manage to catch a couple bass though. One was 1 ounce shy of three pounds. He put up a good fight for his size. The other was a dink but had a huge snapping turtle chasing him while I was reeling him in. The snapper came to within 2 feet of my boat. Wish I got a pic of the turtle. Jay
  18. Congrats! Waitin to see pic.
  19. Here are some pics of the boat I got.
  20. Cool. I may see you there. I wanted to get there around 12 myself but have to wait for my buddy. Should be there around 3.
  21. I'm not a resident but my brother is. I'll have to look into him getting me a key. Where is the resident boat launch? I didn't know they had one there. Thanks for the advice Matt
  22. Thanks NHfroggin. I got a 14 foot aluminum boat I found on craigslist (1956 Larson). Came with everything I needed including trailer for under a grand. I can post a couple pics later on. Thanks for the heads up on the parking getting filled up quickly at Kingston Lake. I used to only be able to fish there from shore. I wasn't planning on getting there till 2:00. Will have to come up with some close by alternatives in case it is filled by the time I get there. Any recomendations for alternative places near by to go?
  23. Thanks nhbassin. Was getting sick of just fishing from the shore all the time. Are there any upcoming get togethers or competitions for bassresource members? There was one being planned in the spring but got cancelled.
