  1. I fish tournaments, but I also fish for pleasure. I have 4 kids that go fishing with me, and they know what fish taste like. My 8 year likes eating fish, and when I told him we were going to throw these bass back, the look on his face, I just had to keep them. So no it does'nt bother me to keep them.
  2. My dad, it's the one thing that we did together outside of work. He owned his own construction company, and had no time for me or the rest of the family when it came time to play. But when summer came around he would find time to take me out bass fishing. We were very competitive against each other. Back then we would use live night crawlers on carolina rigs, he would always beat me. Today, I use artificial lures, and can outfish him and his nightcrawlers. Boy I really miss those days.
  3. What did all the old timers do before all this new fancy scent stuff came out? What.......nobody caught fish! C'mon guys.. : I have used scents as well as anus oil and I catch fish, but I also catch fish without scent, and if anything, I believe the fish are bigger without.
  4. I was told the best way to geta spawning bass to hit while she is on her bed is to take a tube and insert a alka-selzer inside, drop it front of her and let the bubbles do the work. It may make her think that it is a threat to her nest.
  5. I watched a guy lose his outboard on the highway, luckly it was his secondary trolling motor, but it had to be at least a 15hp motor. The motor looked trashed. I imagine that the road vibration losen the clamps.
  6. I picked up my first bass boat for $600.00 back in 1996. It was a fiberglass tri hull. it came with a 55hp evinrude. It was not the best lookin thing out there, but found the add in the newspaper and snatched it up. even came with a trailor.
  7. hipster, would you have to make a raised platform for your trolling motor mount?
  8. I have tried camp-dry and it turn my gortex white, once it became white the mold just thrived in it.
  9. Thanks Glenn That was great info
  10. Jim, As a member of the NBAA, and a division Director, this is a very good tournament trail to join. If you contact Jim Sprague, he probably would be willing to come out there and help you get started with a division. The opportunities with this club are countless. With a national championship tournament that could result in 2 members going for a $100,000.00 prize through (another site).
  11. What is your front deck constructed of? And how much of a rail around yor deck do you have?
  12. Like BARON49 I was patching scratches, went to an aluminum and will never turn back. Have fished rough water with my aluminum and have ran into docks and rocks with no worries of damage to the hull.
  13. The LED light run cooler then bulbs, so when cold water hit the light, they tend to handle the water temp better then the bulb
  14. Well look at the price of these thing, and how long you plan on wearing them. During a tournament, you may only wear them while the engine is on and the boat is moving, then you take them off. For the money I'll buy the regular jackets, as for comfort, you can buy these with neck support also cheaper.
  15. Just remember.... Whatever boat you buy.. your vehicle needs to tow it. Check out your vehicle towing ability before you purchase a boat. If you have a small vehicle you may want to consider a aluminum boat.
  16. I like the single consoles, mor room to move around in the boat. The windshield will help alittle in the wind, but the rain will always get you. I use glasses with foam inserts around the frame to keep the wind and rain away from my eyes. You can buy these for $20.00 or less at any store that sells waterskis or wakeboards.
  17. 2003 Triton 176 Aluminum with a 2004 115 mercury optimax. This boat run just like a fiberglass, but in full plane I can get into 5" of water if you know how to run the motor Triton sold me on this, I probably will never leave the triton line of boats
  18. Make a false floor out of marine plywood the outdoor carpet on that. This will help with noise, it will also give you more area for mounting any type of equipment that you may want to secure to the boat.
  19. Should not be a problem, however the time spent on the water may run the battery down running both equipment. This may also be good, I find that running my batteries down then charging lenghthen the life off the battery.
  20. A watershoe should work, they can get wet and still keep your feet warm.
  21. Make sure your hooks are sharp. I have noticed over the time off a tournament my hooks will dull, so I will change hooks and check my lines for wear for a better hookset.
  22. I fish a little river and damm by my house, and I use these rooster tail spinners off the damm, they are great on the smallies.
  23. Thanks Skipper for the ideal on the dressers, now I know what to do with those that my wife put out into my garage. I'll throw her old clothes out and put in the tackle. What's more important her clothes or my tackle..... HMMMM tackle wins ;D
  24. As I age, I never go out on the lake anymore without raingear. I have gone out in the morning clear as a bell and then by 11:00 it is pouring rain for 20 min. then sun again. It's always best to go prepared.
