What's Your Profession?
haha. ok, so this wasnt meant to be the bash the phone guy thread. I deserved the link to the old strand. i was doped up when i started tis thread. and apparently i got a little chatty. And no, a Conversational Marketing Expert is not the name for the new telemarketer...... a telemarketer is someone who calls prospective customers to sell them services or products or to request the callers time to complete a survey or. in rare occasions, ask for a charitable donation to an organization. I dont call u unless u donate blood in the first place. and the places u guys r from isnt anywhere we cover calls from. Just so u know. they have to call u from the same number, they have to let the phone ring at least 3-4 times in most states. and they have to remove u from their calling list if u say these majic words, "Take me off your calling list." At this point, if they attempt further to get the sale, survey answered, or anything along those lines, say it again. then take legal action. Just DO NOT, under any circumstances, just hang up the phone and assume that will fix the issue!!!!! That just means to most low life call centers, "Call back. Im not home right now...." Hope that helps. And again, sorry for the inconvience. No more popping pain killers then posting all over the forum pages! I Promise! ;D

Snow totals for last nights storm.
ya, one of the blood banks i call work for is in Pitt. and they shut down a ton of drives because of that crap! We got about 12inches in our remote chunk of the Snow Belt here in this part of Ohio....... but i think alot of that was because of where were located and the drifts that form.

What's Your Profession?
I am kinda interested to see what a cross section of our forum does for a living?! Officially, I am a, "Conversational Marketing Expert" what that translates out into is a Marketing and Recruiting Rep for a Contact Center that specializes in Blood Donor Recruiting and Scheduling for some of the countries biggest, and best Blood Banks and Blood Centers...... In short, I make sure the hospitals can save lives! (In redneck, im a highend telemarketer that does good work, not like the crappy evil telemarketers that call and harass you to buy Credit Cards, or satellite TV) Im also our company new Social Media Engineer, what that means, is I run our Social Media Services branch of the company, offering our clients services like Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, and stuff like that. So, lets hear it, what do you do as a day job!? And Glen, dont say run this page forum.... lol ;D

Bud Shootout
Kasey woulda had a shot at it if for the second year in a row........ Harvick wouldnt have won on a fluke. he still hasnt won the shootout as far as im concerned! SO happy that Kasey Kahne switched to a powerhouse motor in ford........... REALLY frustrated that after four years of working to figure out how to run the dodge well, they were at long last on the right track, and then they switched! 9's got Ford under the hood, watch out! this seasons gonna be hot! and btw. im blown away that nascar took the gloves off the drivers, this seasons gunna see more wrecks than anyone in recent memory with the new bump drafting policy!

How do you kill a catfish?
Exactly. I never know why people don't fillet and throw away. The heck with all that nailing and skinning and cleaning. ive watched people get in DEEP trouble for that. for some reason, something about it being against the law for people to clean fish in, on, or near the lake where i lived is chiming in the back of my mind. idk why tho?! seems stupid, but i can clearly remember reading somewhere in a rules and regulations brochure on a local lake that u cant clean or fillet fish on, near or in the lakes waters?! :-?

How do you kill a catfish?
sharp knife tip the the center of the head. hold the fish firmly around the midsection on something hard, like the deck, and with one stiff blow to the back of the knife handle, puncture the tip down into the fishs brain....... and end of fishy....... or just smack the thing really hard with a rock. ;D or try drowning it lol

plano boxes.
got a local flee market? the ones up here are full of tackle boxes, most of which r filled with old lures guys r trying to sell, BUT! ive had success by just offering them a few bucks for the box. got a really nice set of Planos for my stuff that matched the ones that came in my Gander Mtn bag from a guy at the local flee market, he was selling old lapel pins outta them. i offered him $10 for 6 of them, and he dumped all the pins into a big cardboard box and the deal was done. i know ithis isnt the magic answer for cheap tackle buying, but its a creative alternative. good luck tho. Planos pricing isnt gentle..........

i pod while fishing?
if i do or not really varries. alot of times ill take it along for the hike into the woods.......(i shore fish) but once im in "the woods" outta the relative saftey of a well travled trail, its off. Ive fished with my MP3 player on before. but usually not for Bass, I like to be able to hear, see, smell, feel, and sometimes even taste the whole expierence........ i find it hard to get a feel for the bass if i cant hear the strike, or the lure, or something. Plus alot of times, i use the time at the lake as my "therapy" and hearing nature is relaxing. however, when i fish a certain lake where theres an airfield, and the Goodyear Blimp hangar nearby, thats when the headphones go in. Nothings more annoying than hearing the blimps engines buzzing for hours on end! I did get the crap scared outta me once at that lake tho. had my headphones in, and two F16's came buzzing over the tree line so fast that i didnt hear them roaring over my headphones until they were well gone! I guess they were conducting an Ohio Air National Gaurd Readiness Test and those Jets were so low they broke glass in the boathouse window! SO FREAKING loud that i nearly dropped (ok...tossed) my rod into the lake on a cast i was making. since then ive avoiding having the headphones in, and im always listening for jets, or gunshots of hunters in the woods.

carry firearms while fishing?
my point of view is based off of personal expierence i do not own a gun, but i do carry a heavy duty field knife on me while im fishing for practical reasons (I fish off the beaten path in the woods, off trails, or in the thick of the underbrush along the lake shore) so i need the knife to cut my way thru. besides my multitool, and my "utility knife" which is an illegal spring loaded switchblade style knife (The Ranger Knows and doesnt mind because im "the law" without a badge around my lake lo) but besides those things, i carry nothing that could be considered a weapon on me while at the lake. (I know the field knife may seem it, but ud have to see the conditions i fish in) Now that said, A few years ago, a good friend of mine was fishing a local Resv on a public fishing area shoreline and a guy was pulling a stringer of 12 LMB that were all under limit up to his truck..... My pal said something, and the guy pulled a pistol on him, my friend backed down, the guy walked off, and he was reported and arrested later. But ive had teenagers try to start trouble with me, and Im proud to say that ive only had to draw my knife once in a strictly self defense manor.......... I managed to get away from the mess unharmed, again the kids got arrested, and it turns out the boy was high at the time and had a long, long, long criminal record. But i really really regreted ever having to draw that knife. In my mind, the best thing you can do is carry something that can protect you.... i.e. a knife of somesort, and take a training class in self defense, if that includes a segment on personal weapon handling all the better. but......... THE BEST WAY TO PROTECT YOURSELF IS TO STAY OUT OF HARMS WAY! If u know theres trouble at a particular lake, report it to the proper athourities and let them handle it. in the mean time, STAY AWAY! avoiding having to carry a gun to the lake with u is the best policy for me. Now, if ur like my friend i mentioned before, and now live in bear country and fly fish in river systems where ur not the top of the food chain, ok........ protect urself, or stay outta the woods! But all ur asking for is trouble carrying a weapon. None of ur gear, or much less a fish is worth ur life! EVER! And by drawing a weapon, ur inviting everyone else who is packing heat to do the same. It wont end well......... So, as i step off the soapbox, "The best policy on if you should carry a gun with you, is to stay away from places where you feel you might need to carry one at all!" Thank you, and good day! ;D

Gran' Pappy swears by this thing
ive seen stranger....... ive pulled stuff wierder than that outta the pad stems in my favorite lake, id wait till spring, the day after thaw, or the last days before ice up in the fall, toss a heavy 1 or 1.5 ounce jig into where the pads grow, and haul out the weed stems, in them are tons of old baits. one looked alot like that, but it was beat the all h*ll and i tossed it out, it was a rusted, piece of junk with chips in the metal and alot worse! any idea what the bait is?

Bank Beatin Gear
how do u wrangle all 4 rods? i have a rod carrier that holds 4 of them, but i found it too akward on the go on the lake shore, esp. when u consider i fish from some pretty tight spots....... i usually bring two rods with me. ones always my heavy duty baitcaster on the 7' with braid, the others either a baitcaster on a 6' or 6'6" rod with mono. Or a 6'6" spinner with floro. but im just wondering how u manage all 4 rods on the move, or if u stay put alot?!
-
Bank Beatin Gear
nice set up. im a bank beater myself..... the only thing i dont like about ur setup is the tackle bag, myself, i prefer to keep super mobile. so everything i take gets organized into a really sturdy adidas backpack. But i hear u, 5-6 hours is perfect, pack a snack & make it 8 hours. I love how organized u r with the bait bags....... i never thought of organizing them like that, mine r all loose in certian compartments, but the bag getting turned up and then sideways makes a mess! im gunna look into reorganizing that way!

What Frog Do You LIke From Snag Proof?
i like the all black one, but if i were u, id move onto either the Scum Frog, or better yet, if u can afford the jump, move up to the Spro BronzeEye, I LOVE the popper version! i just think they ride better, and i like the hooks more! toss a b.b. or two in the belly and have fun!

Favorite Baits for muddy muddy water
apparently ur already fishing, but ur missing out if ur not throwing a Jig - Id go with one with a big profile & trailer with rattles. Black, with some blue in the skirt! u can rarely go wrong with a black jig in the muddy stuff! If that doesnt work, I LOVE fishing something like the Zoom Ole' Monster....... ive got mixd reviews on the idea. but toss one in Pumpkin Or Black and work it slowly but constantly. (It works for me even on smaller bass here in ohio in the 2-3 lbs range.)

What are you guys going to throw in the next couple of months?
nothing yet. but as soon as theres water open, ill have a the following tied on: 1.) A Swim Jig (&/Or) A Grub 2.) A Small Swim Bait & 3.) A Shallow Water Drop Shot

Favorite cover
that is the most heart stopping thing u can ever have happen! one second froggy is chugging along, next second hell has broken loose on the surface and froggy is GONE! Love watching that happen! (Sadly i get over excited and jump the gun, i have the biggest problem with waiting the second or so before i set the hook on frogs!) ;D

Superstions?
Im just curious if u guys have any superstions that keep u in line for fishing!? ive found that each year i organize my tackle once a month all thru the winter, i feel like i wont be well enough familiarized with my tackle when the season starts if i dont!? (ironically i barely use all of it and by the end of the fall its a mess again!) so lets see whos a believer in superstions and who isnt?!
