that aint nothin a rhino jet boat cant handle Ive seen these boys in the upper james go UP rapids, jump rocks and run about 60mph in less then 5'' of water while dodging rocks ....you guys oughta give the upper james a shot too some great smallie fishin!

powhatan lakes are nice to fish for steady numbers but not so much size. Amelia is also decent.

trust me with all the trees and hidden stumps, structure you dont want to go any faster then a 9.9 can push you. I think if they allowed any bigger motor it would be dangerous!! If i had a bass boat i wouldnt want to risk running my big motor and nailing a stump/tree and messin up the motor bc structure is everywhere even if you think you in open water, bunch of crap just out of view under the surface. Everytime i go out i see/hear someone stuck! 9.9hp is perfect for this lake...now sandy maybe a lil diff bc you have more open water.

drove over maidens "upper james" today and looked pretty good water starting to clear up nice still lil high but fishable...may give that a shot for a couple hours this weekend for some smallies...maybe burn up to the first set of rapids and float back down to maidens. 8-)

checked weather. com shows us breaking into the low 50's for sat-sun!! lets hope it holds!

i havent checked powhatan lakes as far as iced over but there only about 1.5mi down rd from me so aint nothin to ride down real quick and check...but i hope not!

i was thinking about going down the road and fishing powhatan lakes or go over to amelia give it a try if weather holds out!

Actually though, I caught a few fish with those, but still not as good a "Roland Martin's Helicopter lure" ah, good times good times the ol helicopter lure...haha brings back memories!! Since then ive stopped watchin Roland lol

I also throw some large swim baits and know what yall mean about losing confidence but thats where i seem to shine! where guys will fish few hours and not catch anything and put it down and fish something else i will keep throwing it ALL day long and sure enough in most cases it pays off! My theory is stick with it and it will produce! maybe not huge numbers but the ones you do catch will be nice size! Cant wait to get out to briery and sandy this year!! I also love HUGE top water baits!!
