  1. Do you have more information on the avionics app? Like if you've had any major issues with it?
  2. There pretty common in the streams in the North Georgia mountains and can get about as large as a native trout up there.. atleast thats the largest I have ever caught. My dad claims that they compete with the native and stocked trout in the streams and are a menace. I dont know much else I am afraid.
  3. hmm I did fish Sinclair abit with a buddy of mine once and caught afew. Used mostly finesse worms and it worked alright. Never really thought about heading up there but i might just have to now.
  4. Yea i wasnt too sure about lake tobesofkee, its really close to Mercer( the college im going too) but ive heard its not a good fishing lake. I actually drove to Lake Wildwood but it appears to be more of a private lake. There was a checkin gate that gave me a visitors pass for the day but you only get one. I hear lake juliette is pretty peaceful to fish. I definitely wanna check out the Ocmulgee PFA and the river. I think lake Joy is pay to fish too but if it has good fishing i dont mind. Never thought about fishing the flint river but i might have to give it a try, always wanted to catch a nice shoal bass.
  5. Just moved down to macon and have tried fishing aroaund some. Tried to fish mostly Lake Houstan in Houstan county and the Flat Creek PFA. Also considering checking out Lake Juliette, Tobesofkee, Blackshear, and the Ocmulgee River. Never really fished any of these before and wonder if anyone has any advice?
  6. I was not entirely sure what cartegory to post this in, but does anybody know anything about portable fish finders? I am a college student and I fish from a small raft with a 2 hp motor (both of which i keep in my dorm room). There are a few lakes around my college i try and fish but i have no idea whats beneath the surface and have no previous experience on the lakes.
  7. might as well add in my story... wasnt really me but a friend of mine hooked a bass off this dock and had the line break. We then went off and fished all day then returned to the dock to take out. We fished alittlebit off the dock and i kept feeling my line move but when i set the hook nothing happened. After afew more casts i reeled in my line and found another line attached to it. We pulled in the line and at the end of it was the bass that had snapped my friends line earlier. so i ask you....who caught the fish?
  8. I have never actually fished there, but i can tell you what my book Bass Fishing in Georiga by Jimmy Jacobs says. It has a reputation as a good summer/winter fishing lake but not so much in the fall. Average largemouth 1 pound 6 ounces. For fall and winter fishing, you gotta find the shallow flats bordering on deeper channels. The fish feed on these flats and when there not feeding they will hold in the deeper water. Medium running crankbaits work well on the flats in the morning. It mentions places such as Fishing, Long Cane, Keg, Cliatt Creeks as good flat locations. Other then that it really doesnt say much else for fall fishing. I hope this info helps keep in mind this book was written in 1998 though.
  9. cool thanks for your help, cant wait to get back to fishin
  10. I wouldnt know much about it but i do know that they are really messy fish to keep in aquariums. I also know that there have been some previous posts about this topic awhile back so try browsing through past discussions. heres afew http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1253057775/10#10 http://www.bassresource.com/bass_fishing_forums/YaBB.pl?num=1241011128
  11. I dont go fishing nearly enough. I got way too much stuff to do in college. I guess it depends on the time of year. ill fish three or four times a week early in the summer then slow down to about 1once every week or two once the heat kicks in. Winter i fish very little if at all, spring and fall ill go every decent change i get. It also depends on how good the lakes are. It all comes down to making time.
  12. I just moved from Atlanta down to Macon, Georgia and have no idea were to fish round here and was wondering if anybody mind givin me abit of help. i dont got a bass boat (im only in college) but i do have a two man fishing raft that i like to take out. Any help would be appreciated
  13. an excellent video certainly helped me abit. one thing ive never used is trailers for my spinnerbaits. any recommendations for brand, type, etc?
  14. one of the biggest myths about catfish is that they are just bottomfeeders, but from what ive read and experienced they not only have sleek streamlined bodies build for speed but will often chase down baitfish at midranged depths and sometimes even the surface. I always catch them fishing with live herring for striped bass on Lake Lanier.
  15. i reach into my dresser, grab the first thing that doesnt look lame, and go fishing, preferably in darker clothing.
  16. lately ive decided to take a break from fishing suburb lakes and try my luck gunning for shoal bass in the chattahoochee near my house. I was just wonderin what usually works for these guys, ive seen them swimmin around the shoals during the day but cant get them to bite anything. Im mostly just going to be fishing for them during the summer
  17. im about to go off to college in acouple of months and was thinking of getting a small inflatable raft to fish from. It cant take up too much space cuz ill be in the freshmen dorms. i wouldnt mind a small trolling motor too but can do without. I want to keep it as affordable as possible. Im kinda new to inflateable boats so i wondering what advice i could get.
  18. Ive only fished the lake once during summer. didnt catch a single largemouth but when we put out the underwater light over a creek channel at night we caught so many hybrid bass and crappie that we ran out of bait.
  19. yea i got a lifetime hunting and fishing license for Georgia, good motivation to stay instate. there definitely good gift ideas for anyone whos young and intends to fish the rest of their life and not move out of state.
  20. O and one time i had my brand new cellphone sitting on the boat while i was fishing in 90 feet of water. I saw it and said to my dad "better not knock this in the lake" and went to pick it up. It then slipped out of my hand, bounced off the deck one, then dropped in the water. I had immediatly dived after it but it sank to fast.
  21. going fishing on the river three consecutive weekends, having the boats motor break down all three weekends, and having thunderstorms hit all three weekends. So were either floating downstream waiting for the current to carry us down to the boatramp while its poaring rain. Never went fishing with that motor ever again and was sure to check weather reports b4 i head out.
  22. turns out i gotta wait till the weekend before ill have the time to go get a pair, but this advice will definitely help alot
  23. alright im about to go to bass pro and buy some new fishing sunglasses, i am looking to spend between 40-60 dollars and was just wondering what advice you guys might have.
  24. Ive been fishing for awhile and know plenty on lures and techniques, but one area ive never known much about is rods and reels, i just fish with what i got. I was just wondering about the basic rod reel combinations and what makes up a good reel and stuff like that.
