Kayak Rod Holders
I'm thinking I'll be carrying 4 rods and likely a push pole and a net. The Big game II has two flush mounts. So I'd like to have 3 rod holders on the crate. I found this on amazon http://www.amazon.com/dp/B004XAK90O/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=LN9M7Y6JZIT0&coliid=I1YCV77OJVOSND

Kayak Rod Holders
Prowler Big Game II. The lighter weight and scupper mount transducer port did it for me. I also decided I would prefer the mod pod and the battery bag was a plus.

Kayak Rod Holders
When attaching rod holders to your crate, what type are you using? Are they individuals or 3 or 4 rod holders? I'm going to be building my crate while I wait for my kayak to be shipped.

Baitcaster And Kayaks
I agree. I dont see what kayak fishing has to do with finesse fishing. I flip and pitch with a 7'3 XH rod as well as throw crankbaits in the thickest timber. However, on a blue bird sky, post front I may also shakey head or drop shot. In other words, you just fish.

Baitcaster And Kayaks
I agree with all the above. I use 90% baitcasting and only switch to spinning as the technique or conditions call for it. You're roll cast may need to be adjusted slightly

Kayak Rooftopping Question
I think you make a good point. The lower height of the sedan should make moving the kayak once on the roof much easier. I think I will go with 2 hull a ports and the outrigger. I believe that is the cheaper option as well.

Kayak Rooftopping Question
Same as the outrigger.

Kayak Rooftopping Question
I am planning on buying a Ocean Kayak Prowler Big Game II or a Predator MX. Both are quite heavy and I will be loading it on to the roof my sedan on my own. It fits the Thule LB50 (50" load bar) and I am commited to Thule products only. Here are the options I've come up with. Option 1 Slipstream, for when I'm on my own Glid and set for a guests boat Option 2 2 Hull a port pro's Outrigger II, for loading solo With option 1, I'm not certain two boats will fit on the 50" inch load bars in the flat position. The other question I have is how the extendable roll bar will work on a sedan as opposed to an SUV or hatchback vehicle. With option 2, I'm sure I can get my kayak loaded on to the roof with outrigger load assist bar. But I am not sure I will then be able to get it lifted from the load bars and into the J hooks. If anyone can comment on my concerns or provide other advice or suggestions, it would be greatly appreciated.

Ocean Kayak Prowler Big Game Ii
Well I fished in the MX for about 16 hours and it was my first time in a stand up kayak. I have to say the stability is astounding. I could literally hop up on to my feet when I wanted to. I never questioned my balance. I had plenty of leg room to spare. The individuals at the kayak shop were very impressed with the flat deck and definitely talked it up. The other thing they mentioned is that the absence of the mod pod makes the deck very rigid as well. It makes for great b/w the legs storage. However, in my 16 hours I never attempted to stand in the middle of the deck. The entire time I was straddling my backpack with my feet wedged against the walls the cockpit. This makes me question the advantage of the open deck. After I realized this, I'm starting to lean more towards the prowler BGII. The MX is also very heavy and the even though the BGII is longer it is 12lbs lighter.

Ocean Kayak Prowler Big Game Ii
So I'm in Austin, Tx for vacation and was able to rent the Predator MX. First thing I notice is how stable this thing is. It was awesome to stand and fish parallel to a reed line. This was my first time standing on a kayak and it felt about as stable as a small jon boat and probably more stable than other canoe's I've been in. I'm strongly considering this smaller boat, but it is very heavy. The completely open deck is very nice. It did seem a bit slow, but I was also battling a good wind. So now I'm torn between the new Big Game II and this predator MX. I'm not considering the predator 13 because it is the heaviest of the three and the BGII seems to beat it from all aspects including being 15lbs lighter. Also found some new videos on the BGII https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o4ukx5CpSnQ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nZ483Y4pcps

Ocean Kayak Prowler Big Game Ii
I saw the Ride 115 in store today. Its a cool boat and mounting options are awesome. I really liked how the rod holders are already raised. Very nice boat. Comparing the features to the new big game II, I think they are similar. But I haven't seen big game II up close.

Well speed isn't that important. I fish smaller bodies of water. Standing is a cool plus, but not absolutely necessary. Mainly i'm looking for comfort since I usually fish at least 8 hours. Maneuverability is probably more important than speed. After thinking about it more I"m betweent Trident 11, 13 and the big game II.

The ultra is a big longer at 14' and that deeper well in the back looks kind of nice. Is there anything else different about it? I think I want to stay under 13'

Ocean Kayak Prowler Big Game Ii
I wish I could paddle some. I'm not sure how I could make that happen here in WV. The trident 13 angler is on my mind. As of now I'm between that and the Big game II.

Ocean Kayak Prowler Big Game Ii
I'm pumped about the mounting boards. I certainly did not want to drill holes in my boat.

Awesome. Thanks for the input!

Ocean Kayak Prowler Big Game Ii
Do you feel that it manuevers well? Or would be worries about how it handles in tight quarters?

How about any insight in to the comfort of the seat type of the big game II. It has the hobie type canvas, adjustable seat. Are those comfortable?

Ocean Kayak Prowler Big Game Ii
The nuts and bolts of my fishing is small flat water ranging from 6 to 30 acres. But I would like to also have the option to go out on bigger water. So I was thinking about the 11 to 13' range. I don't mind the 10 footer, but it had quite a low weight capacity.I did like the maneuverability of the boat, but my load approaches 300lbs.

Ocean Kayak Prowler Big Game Ii
Looking for some insight into this boat. I know its new, but any opinions would be nice. Also any information running down the Ocean Kayak line of angler kayak's would really be appreciated. I am limited to OK because a large discount I will get. The nuts and bolts of my fishing is small flat water ranging from 6 to 30 acres. But I would like to also have the option to go out on bigger water. For the past season I have been fishing out of a Perception Prodigy 10 that I've been renting. I get a phenomenal deal at about 10$/day, but even then I spent several hundreds last year. I'm a bit big for this boat at 6'1 230lbs. It just makes more sense for me to buy my own rig that I can personalize and that will be more suitable for fishing. I did notice that the small 10 foot boat was very easy to transport, especially up and down steeper paths. I know for sure with myself and the gear I was over the weight capacity. It seemed to create a lot of drag when I paddled.

Arbogast Buzz Plug Anyone???
How do you know this to be true?

Arbogast Buzz Plug Anyone???
I did some experimenting. My spro frogs have a 3/0 gammy. Definitely smaller than that. I have a couple booyah pad crasher jrs and Basspro says they have a 2/0. Still a bit smaller than that. So I think its 1/0. Maybe someone can confirm.

Revo Sx
I am definitely partial but I love my revo's. I prefer their magnetic breaking to their centrifugals. I dont put much effort into casting. And maybe thats the trick. I'm guessing people have their breaks maxed out and are whipping their baits out as hard as they can. I just flick my wrist and the baits go where they need to. Thats why I love them. Plus the drag is second to none. My favorite characteristic of the reel is the way it fits in my hand. Like butter.
