  1. I always carry with me a pair of diagonal cutter pliers. When a bass is hooked in a way I can not remove the hook I cut the hook and leave the least metal as I can in the fish. *sorry about the bad English.
  2. Thanks. My problem is that I really like small diameter lines. I was fishing my alphas with 10lb Yo-zuri hybrid and I felt I would like the 8 or 6 lb better. However if I am going to have headaches with de 20 lb braid I may buy a larger diameter.
  3. I am thinking about spooling my Daiwa Alphas with 20 lb braid and I would like to know your opinion about it. I am not sure if I will buy sufix or the new fireline. I may use it for some fish up to 6 pounds that fight harder than LMB. Will I have problems with line dig in? *sorry about the bad English.
  4. The line is not breaking at the knot. It is braking in the middle of the line; it is very strange because I am sure that the line had not suffered any abrasion where it broke. This happened in 2 of my reels. I have been using 20lb braid. I notice that to happen in the day after I used megastrike. I intend to make a test in my house; however I have not had the time yet.
  5. Since I started using megastrike fish attractant I had some problems with my braided lines. They are snapping very easily and lost straight. Did anybody else notice this? Could the attractant react with the line and provoke this?
  6. It was 10 years ago. I was fishing in Culuene River after Trairao. I was having a hard time catching fish. I was almost leaving to the camp, it was almost sunset when I casted a buzzbait in a really shallow watter ( 4 ft ) near a log. I retrieved it for about 3 yards when I saw something I will never forget. A big Trairao attacked my bussbait and the fight was on. The fight lasted about 15 minutes, with 5 jumps and many runs. Every run the leaves on the bottom of the lake were lifted to the surface. Every jump the fish was almost entirely out the water. It was great. I was 13 years old and I am not sure if I will ever have a better fishing memory. The fish had 36 inches and weighted around 22 pounds. I sure miss that trip.

I think the durability is 1.5 times greater than the paca chunk, but the price is more than 2 times greater. I like the action of the paca chunk better.
  8. I am an international member and I think this may be my first post here. lol. I am doing a lot of learning just by reading the forum.
  9. I had one 8 years ago. lol. That was a strong rod; I catch a 22 lb Trairao with it. It was a 6'3" rod rated for lines between 8-20lb. It isn't with me now because my dad dropped it in the water I can't compare it with more modern rods, but I recall it casted well and I liked it for topwater and jerkbaits. I did not use it for bass fishing.
  10. I think a person with bad attitude will never learn to fish properly. Most of the knowledge is acquired from other people and a person with bad social skill will have some difficulties.
  11. Are jerkbaits more used for smallmouth? When are they effective for bigmouth bass?? Sorry about the probably stupid question, but I never understood jerkbaits.
  12. I use braid with a fluorocarbon leader. Some people here say I would have a more sensitive setup using fluorocarbon as the main line. What is more sensitive?
  13. If you fish saltwater a lot I would not buy a reel with magnesium body. Even if they are built to resist salt water, eventually you may scratch your reel and it might give you trouble. Here in Brazil a lot of people had problems using the 50mg in saltwater.
  14. I got a daiwa alphas (Japanese version of Sol) and a 50mg. The 50mg is lighter, casts better and has better ergonomics. I like the centrifugal braking system more than the Mag V. The drag of the alphas is a bit more powerful and the reel seems stronger (aluminum body and brass gears), but I have never had any problem with any of them. If you fish salt water I think the sol is a better choice but when it comes down to bass fishing I see myself using the 50mg a lot more than the alphas.
  15. I am thinking about buying a daiwa zillion rod for worm/jig fishing. Bass here go you to 5 pounds, is the TDZL701MXB adequate to jigs up to 1/2oz or should I go with the MH?
  16. No left hand 5.... I was hoping that the chronarch would have a 101D5, since the curado 200E5 is not out yet... I f it will ever be.
  17. How sensitive are the lamiglas XMG Magnum Action blanks compared to st.croix and g.loomis blanks? Would it be equivalent to an IMX? Which lamiglas blank would be a good choice for a worm/jig rod?
  18. I do not have any swimbait and I am thinking about buying a BB1-4". Which should I get the slow sink or the fast sink? When and where should I use it?
  19. Here in Brazil when peacock bass are hard to catch bucktail jigs work well.
  20. I have seen a bass that swallow a senko. We caught it later and we saw the line coming out of his mouth, so we pulled it and the worm came out with the hook attached (texas rigged)
  21. Does anyone have a pic?

Does anyone think that the DD22's hooks are too big? If you do, what size do you recommend?
