  1. Welcome to the forum!!
  2. Welcome!!
  3. Any member I could, I haven't ran into many folks I wouldn't want to fish with.
  4. Don't know if you purchased the reel or not, it feels like the exceler models. (I work at Dick's). These reels are worth the $50 Bucks from what I can tell. Also tried the new field and stream rods, the spinning rods are awesome. I am weary of the casting rods as some of them have arrived misshaped and bent. I own the spinning rod and have given the reels my best inspection they seem to be well-made. At least for 50 bucks.
  5. Supposedly they are very aggressive. A fish hatchery here in Alabama has them. It is rumored that you can catch one, release it and catch that same fish again, due to their aggressiveness. Never caught/seen one, only heard these stories. But they are real, and cost about 10 cents a fingerling... well the last time I checked they did.
  6. To my friends here who have never done battle with a Coosa Spot. You better tie your shoes on tight when you go after one. They have a never give up, never surrender attitude. They make Kentucky Spots cry to their mommies. Coosa River Spots are the bomb... end of story. They are a load of fun to catch. I had the pleasure of catching a 4.1lb (my biggest coosa to date) in my tourney last month. Yep she won me big fish!
  7. I work with a guy who used to film Tom Mann and he said Tom only used spinning gear. I also have a friend who uses his almost exclusively.
  8. This is the honest truth. I have a 7 year old nephew who doesn't ever want to play video games. He loves fishing even if he does get bored, we did around for craw-fish, tad-poles, or even throw rocks. Also he would rather watch fishing DVDs and the outdoor channel than watch cartoons. He is a pretty awesome kid and it reminds me that there is still hope out there.
  9. Welcome Mike, I am from Slocomb so I am just a piece down the road! Your gonna love this site!!
  10. It's hard not to be moved by a story like that. Brought tears to my eyes.
  11. A lot of Universities now have fishing teams. Does Pinnacle offer anything to the Collegiate Anglers? As college students it is very hard to get quality gear with limited funds and any/all help goes a long way. Thanks. David
  12. The hardest lesson I have had to learn is to welcome new techniques, but also stay true to my older ones. I have gotten used to throwing one rig all day as opposed to using different pieces to put together the puzzle. Its almost as if I try to use one color to paint a picture. I'm not the type to pull up on a hump and catch 30 fish. Its a buzz-bait here a drop-shot there... ooo a mad-paca would work great here. And I have strayed from that by trying to use one or two new techniques to catch the fish and it has cost me. So learning to add to my arsenal and not devote 100% of my time to one technique.
  13. Grass lines and Buzz-Baits, Lay Downs and Buzz-Baits, Log Jams and Buzz-Baits. Oh did I mention Boat Docks and Buzz-Baits??? .
  14. lol that was sure hard to find You might wanna get that 100 pack lol.
  15. Shimano. I, like you tried virtually every company under the sun and have been very pleased with the Shimano Reels. I have 3 of Citica 200e, 1 Calcutta, 1 Corsair, and a Stradic Spinner among others. Great reels.
  16. 10+ Alx Custom Rods ALL Task Specific. All Paired with Shimano Reels
  17. Are there any members who do reel repair? I just acquired two shimano reels: Corsair CS200A and Callcutta 150, from what I read they are awesome reels, but these seem to have seen better days. Just wondering if it would be easier to move on and buy new ones or have these repaired. Both reels engage properly, but the calcutta does not reel smoothly at all. Any tips, pointers, advice is much appreciated. **I am not very good at breaking reels down so I try not to, outside oiling and basic maintenance .** Thanks, Dave
  18. Welcome from Southeast Alabama!
  19. I hooked my pinkies together (like chinese handcuffs) with a red-eye shad. Good times. As I walked in the E.R I stuck my hands through the tiny window and said to the lady, "I need you to fix this." The look on her face was priceless.
  20. I always miss sales like this at my local Wally World because I hate going in there. I'm gonna bite the bullet and see what they got since its right across from work (Dick's).
  21. Hearing things like this just ticks me off. Because there are tons of tons of anglers without boats who just need something to get out there on the water with. Alot of these boats could be sold, but instead they litter shore lines. I saw a small boat in the water on Lake Jordan recently with the transom slightly rotted and the back in was full of water the motor still on and everything. Sad stuff. Especially to those of us in need of a small boat for pond fishing and trying to get to those hard to reach areas not accessible from the shore.
  22. Got this boat for $1500 110 Johnson on the back, the only thing that needs work is the gelcoat/paint and the inside is without carpet. I need some info on restoring the gelcoat or having it painted or wrapped. I have researched all these options but there is an overwhelming amount of idea, theories and way to do things. I have noticed some other renovations and old boat makeovers and wondered if you guys had any ideas on this? I pretty much think I can get the carpet but the outside is looking like a daunting task. Thanks in advance for all the info.
