  1. RAGE Frogs all the way. Unique sound, plus everyone around here throws horny toads, so that different sound always gets me a few more strikes than the guys with me. I went to Ribbit frogs for a while... I do like the horny toad hook by zoom, but looking now at the trokar screw in line.
  2. Dick's Sporting Goods, Lodge Sales Lead.
  3. He is odd, but we all have our quirks... we just get to see his on film and learn a little something from him... or not. Well I can say I usually skip over the art of angling on the DVD.... unless his topic catches my eye.
  4. It's your money, buy what you want and feel comfortable with. I have went off advice before and the best way to buy gear is to sit down, look at what you have... and don't have and go from there. But no one knows you like you know yourself... go with your instincts, or else you will end up with a boat full of someone else's gear... just my .03 cents.
  5. SPRO, Kermit is the way to go. It's not easy being green.
  6. I would read the article provided above. Spinnerbaits are versatile baits and different sizes, colors, blade combos have their own application. For instance this time of year I'm slow rolling a strike king premier plus spinner bait in the 1/2 or 3/4 size. I just like the weight and the fall rate. Other times I'm using the Davis X-wire or a Strike King Burner in a 3/8 or 1/4. I let the weather/fish tell me what to use. But to answer the question I think MOST bass are aggressive enough to bite the larger baits there are always exceptions.
  7. I fish Netbait almost exclusively due to a partnership through the University here. Now I have always been a fan on Strike King products and I must say that compared to the brush hog or mad paca by netbait the rage hawgs and well the whole line of rage plastics have really produced for me. The way they displace water really helps in grass and darker water, but in the clearer water I go with the mad paca (brush hog). I could also make a mad paca vs. brush hog, but that is simply due to the difference in parts on the lures. But overall the rage line are my favorite plastics for flipping,darker/nasty water conditions, and so forth. Just my .02 cents.
  8. I would proofread through this and correct the couple of errors you have and consider re-wording a few things. Companies want their best foot forward and allowing you to promote for them is just like bringing you on as an employee. I hope all goes well for you in 2010. Tight Lines!
  9. Awesome place and even better pictures. Its always good to start the year out right.
  10. I bet this frog shafts the competition.
  11. A friend of mine from ARAB Alabama had somethings stolen from his boat as it sat in his drive way last night. Some of the items taken were: Plano Box full of Lipless Cranks (Strike King, Xr50s, Spros, Cordell, mainly all makes of lipless baits). Plano Box of Tru-Tungsten Weights Plano Box of Gamakatsu Hooks ( Various sizes for different techniques) If you have any info regarding this please PM me. He is a soon to be collegiate angler and needs this stuff, because we just don't have the money to go out and buy these things. Thanks for your help in advance.

  13. To answer some questions provided here. I tried the following: 1. Letting the bait free fall down the bluff wall . 2. Bottom Bumping 3. Slow/Fast Swim He is a very reliable source as I have talked with him on several occasions, look through pictures, and talked in depth on a-lot of things. I haven't spoken with the gentleman in quite some time. Also can someone provide me with a suggested way to work the jig back to the boat other than the ones listed. And the size of the jig is almost going to have to be the deal here (at least that is what I'm thinking now).
  14. I printed a large google earth type image of my small pond and record where I catch fish, hit snags, all that jazz. It has helped get my numbers up. I have since printed two maps one for fish caught and another for depths and detected structure. I also printed the fishing log from the tackle box section on the top tab here. Filling out this each time has really added up... just my .02 cents.
  15. A fellow was telling me he was catching tons of spotted bass on high bluff walls here on the Chattahoochee River (Alabama Portion) on a Black and Blue Football Jig. He was telling me this technique has yielded many times for him in many conditions. This got me excited to try it, I have matched his jig and trailer, but no fish. It has to be in my presentation... he would not reveal to me how he was moving/not moving the jig or anything like that. I am relatively new to jig fishing so any info would help, but again high bank, bluff walls, deep water spotted bass. Any clue as to how he is making this happen?
  16. My most memorable day was at an event called, "Gone Fish'n not just wish'n." We helped children with special needs catch bass from small pond. I have to say that those kids see fishing a universally good thing. I have never felt so privileged to fish. It was a truly special day. One I will never forget. The picture is with a young lady from my third shift named eve. We caught about 7 fish in 30 minutes.
  17. I couldn't find the exact post, but this topic has been covered before. It's not illegal. Its free promotion for the company so I'm sure they won't complain. Lots of people do it. Do a little searching on the topic within the site, I'm sure you will find some info. Look in the resume section or tournament talk.
  18. I am also a collegiate angler. Let me know if I can help.
  19. Great looking baits! I wish I had about 3 of those in my box. ;D
  20. What the guys did here at Troy was simply this. Rather than trying to start a "Bass Team," they created a club. We are not recognized by the athletic department like some schools, but rather a student organization. So instead of calling our club the Troy University Bass Team, we named it Troy University Bass Fishing Association. This way you can use the group status to encompass all varieties of fishing and give guys a place to come in and be a part of a fishing club (not just bass). Good ideas would be to have someone share knowledge at meetings (pro-fishermen and people in the industry) and have members bring info to the table. We do a lot of the tournaments, but mainly focus on community service activities. Camp ASCCA here in Alabama, Boy Scouts, there are a number of ways to use the fishing platform to do good in the community service arena. These clubs are great for getting guys together who love fishing. We do subdivide the "Bass Team, and the Association," somewhat, but all in all we hold true to the club more so than a competitive team. We have acquired fantastic sponsors in Net Bait, Davis Bait Co., ALX Custom Rods, Cabin by the Lake. This has been a long post I know. If you need any other info PM me.
  21. Wacky-Rig (your lure of choice). Mine would be a senko. Experiment, try things that aren't conventional. And my last tip would be pester the h*ll out of em. They will eventually get ticked off and hit your lure. Persistence/Patience/Preservation the 3-ps of bass fishing.
