  1. What they said!
  2. Legal to use in Maine. You just won't find any stores in Maine selling them cause it is illegal to sell them. Buy all you need before you come here. Have fun!
  3. I'm right here in Augusta. Glad to talk to you. You near Cobbossee?
  4. I don't think you can access it via the web. The article is in this months Maine Sportsman magazine. The article was written by the editor who suggest that a ban should be debated.
  5. Most of my experience on the lake is fishing for salmon and lake trout. It is supposed to be decent for smallies. Classic bouldered up lake for them. Where are you staying?
  6. Due to the evidence that trout are ingesting and not passing soft plastic baits, it seems likely that the State of Maine, may in the near future, attempt to pass legislation banning soft plastics. Does anyone have any idea if plastic bait companies are moving toward biodegradible baits? It would be awful to lose plastics as we have today without having something to replace it. On the other hand, if trout are indeed being harmed then something should be done. Looking for feedback and opinions. This is not going to be easy.
  7. Thanks guys. I believe it was the berkely product. I want to try it on freshwater bass up here in the north. If it don't work, I'll use it on stripers.
  8. Did anyone happen to catch the In Fisherman show yesterday when they were fishing for Walleye with swimbaits? I didn't get what brand they were using. Maybe someone here at Bass Resource world did. I would appreciate it!
  9. Green Black Red Shad Get yourself a Wacky Tool Rig and O-Rings. You'll save on the worms.
  10. Fished it last week for about three hours. Didn't catch a thing. Alewife run just got over so they probably gorged themselves. They had been hitting well for two weeks prior to that. Should pick up again soon.
  11. How about the Browning Medallion GT? Bought a 6' Med action last summer and it has worked great. Sensitive enough and powerful enough.
  12. I have never fished that one. I suspect it would be fairly good. Check out the lake survey info put out by Maine Fish and Wildlife on their website. There is a link to it on the link section of this web sites home page.
  13. Are you refering to Long Lake in Bridgeton? There are many Long Ponds and Long Lakes. Please specify and maybe someone can help.
  14. My friend has several and they are catching largemouths here in Maine.
  15. Swim Senko Lg Green purple/black flake T-rigged weightless Green Senko Wacky Worked well for LM Bass on three out of four lakes I have fished so far.
  16. Thanks for the input. Big help!
  17. How do you all match a spinning reel to a rod? Is there a particular point on the rod where you can lay it on your hand and it doesn't tip either way, that means its balanced? I'm guessing just forward of the reel tang? Looking for help for my daughters rig. Thanks.
  18. Being only five miles from Cobbossee I suggest the following: Rod 1. Senko Wacky Rigged Weightless Rod 2. Swim Senko Texas Rigged Weightless Rod 3. Leave it at camp. You should be busy enough with the first two. Have fun!
  19. I recognize that island in one of the pictures. Nice fish!! I'll be headed to the Lincoln area in a couple of weeks.
  20. I'm from Central Maine and I do fish for smallies. Caught one today. Slow fishing where I was at. Going up to Lincoln area in a couple of weeks for the first time fishing there. Any suggestions if you've been?
  21. We do have excellent smallmouth waters. Take your pick, rivers or lakes. They take time up here to grow to any size. An occasional 3-4 pounder makes it worth the while. In the Augusta area where I'm from, we have the Kennebec River which produces good smallmouth action. Although starting pretty soon we tend to catch more stripe bass than smallmouth because of the alewife run. The most famous smallmouth waters are in Washington, Hancock and Penobscot Counties. Be going up there in a couple of weeks to fish the Penobscot and Mattawamkeag Rivers along with several smaller lakes. All smallies, no largemouths. What to use? Floating Rapalas or Rebels, Senkos, Mepps, Hula Grubs and Ikas. Let you know how we make out. My friend from RI who replied on this thread is pretty close to being right about Mainers sharing info. Six months of winter makes us that way but we are quite ready to extend a welcome hand, especially when it comes to the outdoors. On the otherhand, when it comes to trout and salmon..........?
  22. Finally on board! If anyone needs info on fishing in Maine, please ask. I look forward to sharing and accepting any fishing info anyone may have.
