Being in the DOG HOUSE
WELL---First you might get rid of your girl friend as that seems to make the little wife a bit happier. It sounds like the story where the wife packed the fishermans clothes, when he got home he complained the wife didn't pack any underwear, she said "I packed it in your rod case dear." cant see the beds
I think I would go find some prespawn bass in a staging area and pour it on em. Sight fishing in muddy water doesn't work very well. 8-)

best tip ever?
I think it was Buck Perry who said "Not all structure will relate to bass but all bass will relate to structure." This has remained very true in my fishing--and oh yeah --- s l o w down. 8-)

Bass's sense of smell
In the book "Bass Biology" authored by a researcher at Berkley, a bass' sense of smell is 10 times as sensitive as a dogs. Bass have "taste buds" also on their lips and between their teeth. This is one reason we as anglers should take care to present an appealing smell as a bass can sneak up behind a bait, suck in some water, taste the bait (water) and decide if it is something appealing. Of course the slower the bait, the more time for the decision. It also stated that human, gas, or oil scents deterred the bass very little while soaps, deet (mosqito repellent,) and sunscreen were very repulsive. Garlic and salt showed little or no affect. Oil based scents also showed little affect as the bass could not absorb (taste and process) the product. Hope this helps. 8-)

Making Spinnerbaits
For most of your lure making needs go to Cabelas.com They have many different packages. Good luck and good fishing. 8-)

Two bass, one lure, one cast
I have only done that on a sea bass fishing trip off the coast of Washington. We would get one on and wait until a second one hit. It might take awhile to get the first one and the second would be quick.

Adapting to New Water!
If you can find where the deepest water meets the shallowest water (such as a point tapering to a creek channel) you have a great place to start. Of course temp and clarity play a huge part but I fish for lazy fish. If they do not have to leave the living room and kitchen to live then I know where they are, all I have to do is supply the pizza with a hook in it.

AAAAGH!!!
Sounds like trolling time to me. 8-) Sorry to hear about your accident, maybe you can get a bionic implant and outcast everyone. We can rebuild him--we have the technology.

Fishing Friends from Scotland visiting U.S.
I travel to the Prestwick area of Scotland most every month and love the land and the people. I have FINALLY learned to understand them after several years (ok - I am a slow learner Lad). Top water fishing and sight fishing for bedding bass will get anyones blood pumping. Good luck and good fishing. 8-)

Boat Speed Limits-Your Opinion?
WHEW, I thought I might get some input but had NO idea this would be such a hot button issue. From reading the posts it sounds like if everyone including jetskiers would show common courtesy and common sense the problem would be solved but those two commodities are increasingly getting in short supply. Thanks for the input. BC57

big Bass hunting
RW has the right idea (the other 115 days), effort equals results. Good luck and good fishing. 8-)

Holy Cow Jimmy H. is a piece of crap.
Well the dark side has come to light. This is wrong in my book but it says alot about dollars and cents. When we all demand these shows and the producers want the film for the least cost it is a $$$ issue with getting the show. As long as there are fenced hunts we will have these kind of images to contend with. Of course different fishing shows do what they need to do to get the fish. At least Bill Dance fishes his private oxbow lake and has no need for trickery. I have seen this first hand while flying corporate customers on a company sponsored duck and quail hunt. These guys thought they were really doing something shooting pen raised wing clipped birds. When you get checking into it, it is a very ugly industry.

Pike protection
Another compromise would be to use a special florocarbon leader. Just change it often and you can get most of the safety of steel with most of the advantages of florocarbon.

running your boat on a new lake
Another way is to mark your own lanes with milk jugs but this may not be a popular idea as it may not be practible but it also may be considered pollution. I have seen on many lakes around the county and Canada where milk jugs are tied to hazards and are a big help. If your lake is that full of hazards that might not work either. The last idea is to spend some $$$ on a nice GPS unit, figure out a route, record it, and utilize the tracking function to follow the same track. Other than that, I am out of ideas. Maybe we can get some other posts. Good luck and good fishing. 8-)

running your boat on a new lake
Simple, stay in the boat lanes or idle.

MUDDY WATER
I don't know where you are but cold and muddy is as bad as it gets so I would try to find the clearest, warmest water on your lake. If that is no good then I would find a different lake until yours clears up.

rookie
You sure have hit a gold mine with this site. Read all the articles and pick the brains of lots of great anglers for info. Plastics are always easiest for me to catch and best to not get hung up with so it is a good way to start. Some colors work best for certain areas so the local bass club should be able to steer you in the right direction. Good Luck and Have Fun.
