  1. When a guy like Redline is looking to dump everything he has from a certain company, it makes you wonder. Only because he has EVERY top 'o the line gadget out there. He IS his own "tackletour". I got to use many of these and I have my own opinions too , very close to his. We'll see how long the core stays in the line-up. And forget the Cumara, you won't get a better looking match than what is seen in the pic (Dobyn's rod) What is the core's claim to fame other than being a new addition to the line?
  2. Some people will do anything to catch a "fall" fish... :
  3. Eric and I are heading to the new BPS in Foxboro tomorrow, I'm trying to get Matt 5.0 and tin2win to come along, anyone want to meet up and do lunch?
  4. It's roughly an hour North to south, at the speed limit anyway, and about 40 minutes wide. I've been fortunate enough to travel the world and I wouldn't live any place else. We got it all
  5. The teams each have their own bunkhouse. DK- Top notch kid right there, Mike is also growing on me, a very intelligent boy who is mature beyond his years. Now TAYLOR,...I would be quite embarrassed to be her parent, although the parents can't be much different, SOMEONE had to turn this kid into the monster she is! This week, she gets hers. Word on the street is that she won't be allowed to share in any of the group rewards unless she starts pulling her own weight. Spoiled little brat!! Anjay- Gotta feel bad for him, he cares and he tries but gets put down left and right.
  6. Now there's a man that knows how to "step up" in his community. I'm not big into bible study but if I had a kid and lived near Ronnie, I would make sure they knew each other well. Great job Alpster. (PS- I WANT YOUR WORKSHOP!!!!) Mike, I agree wholeheartedly. I was always the opposite. When I got my hands on power tools, there was no stopping me. Dad was a hacker of sorts but my brother is a perfectionist. I learned (and still learn) a great deal from him. Below is my brother's latest project. His good friend said, here's the $$, build 2. This is the one that got the original 427 side oiler, the other one (my brothers) got the corvette z-1 motor. He also helped me a lot with the restore job on "Rusty Hooks". The pic below is the night I brought her home. He came up (lived right down the street) to take a look and form a game plan. The Bike he was on was the last project he did. He took a totaled Buell with the 101 engine and used the Inverted forks, the 101 motor and the gauges to make this odd low rider. Cool mix. The finished "Rusty Hooks" Now, you need to know, this boat was totaled. It had a hole in the port side, roughly 2'x3'. The nasty (maroon, gold) decal down the side was factory,...i.e. UNDER the clear coat. Handlebar steering and no gauges. We also switched out the power plant from a 650 to a 701. The hand rail, rub rail and swim platform were all falling off. All the wood in the gunnel was replaced with mahogany. This "lesson" boat got my hands wet with the fiberglass world which I later made some decent money in doing custom audio installs in cars (Glass fabrication). This boat will now give you the ride of your life and turns heads more than any other 15' boat out there. (not many 15', center consoles,....with no motor on the back!!) Very clean- My brother is a great guy
  7. Excellent reminder. If you MUST drink, designate a driver. For anyone in RI, I don't drink, I am awake at all hours of the night and you are never too far away (gotta love our state) Don't hesitate to call me.
  8. update? :-/ : :)
  9. Great eye Fluke! I still didn't see it, even after you pointed it out, lol.
  10. Funny, that Simmons place always has the newest stuff, before others. I got my Kistler magnesium there before you could buy it ANYWHERE online. Note to self
  11. Be a strong independant man. You don't need a woman to define you. Fishing can be good therapy in times like this. When you feel weak or like you might do something stupid,.....go fishing! Hang tough. Keep your confidence through this and when the time is right, you'll be even more attractive to someone on a whole different level than the ex.
  12. Sorry. Every lake/pond does not have a spring(s). All of the phytoplankton do not die. If that was the case many ecosystems would not do very well (bottom-up theory). These are the primary producers of the system and thus provide energy to all levels above them. You are correct that the decomposition of plant material does contribute to decreasing oxygen levels and that colder water can "hold" more oxygen. But depending on where you live there may be some plants or other factors producing/providing the oxygen for the waterbody. Fish are cold-blooded and slow there metabolism accordingly. That's why in the winter we tell you to fish VERY SLOOOOOW. Fish are not going to expend any more energy than what is necessary. Low budget, if the lake turns over it creates habitat from the top of the lake to the bottom of the lake. Oxygen will be consistent (relatively speaking) throughout. Not just at the bottom or the top. Lake turnover is just the mixing of the system to the point where the thermocline is not as noticeable. Hope this helps. Not here. The lake goes to a mixed state where you can't get a consistent reading w/ the D.O. meter at any depth, for roughly a week to 10 days, depending on wind. Once it turns, it is a drastic as night and day. when it turns back in the spring, it is not as drastic. I always wrote it off to Oxygen being produced in higher amounts again due to the grasses coming back to life in the spring. Im the spring, the higher readings are in the 2-6 ft range, never on top which always surprised me seeing as how the highest readings at ice out are always in the deepest part of the lake (31 ft) Again, every lake is different. I would imagine that lakes with a consistent feed from springs would be more of a mix.
  13. It's all he ex girlfriends tracking you down 8-) :-?

  18. You can fish while you're at college,......trust me. 8-) Build your talent and knowledge base while accumulating the "know how" to promote yourself properly in the future. Make a plan.

  21. I guess civilization is over rated too then.... :
  22. For baits that tend to slide down the hook, like horny toads, I fell in love with the Gammy skip gap hook.
  23. And once your lake turns, all that good dissolved Oxygen is going to be in the deepest parts of the lake anyway. (the avg lake)
  24. Well, that pic was taken by RedLineRobert in Brazil but butterfly's do make great subjects. Found a batch of Monarchs in migration on my UPS route a few weeks back. Notice,..Monarchs also match carrot sticks, lol
