  1. go to circuit city, or any install shop, they have them laying around by the hundreds, if they try to charge you, go to the next shop. Also, you don't NEED 2, 1 will work. Free 1 side and then the other. Sorry I missed your IM, hit me again if you are still stuck, there are other ways to get the deck out.
  2. Speed- I was confused with the application of the word, I thought he meant it wasn't possible because you wouldn't be able to promote or publicize the sponsors and that's the basic "payback" for being a sponsor. We got it straightened out on the phone and things are smooth for Muddy. I just wanted to offer a way for him to continue his work at his pace and by his rules but without having to come out of his own pocket for the cost of equipment but he's already got that covered too. All good in the hood
  3. That says it all right there. It took me a few years of fishing with my partner to get there. I got sick of watching him catch 4-6 lbrs off the back of the boat on a jig casting to the deeper water while I would catch a bunch of small fish with the occasional 3 lbr thrown in fishing at the bank. Discipline yourself, there is much better fishing in the deeper water. It takes time but the results will come. slow down,....read the bottom like it was brail and pick it apart.
  4. Works for me! The length of your arm and the proximity to the camera can greatly improve your catches as well!!
  5. Awesome Matt!! See how he keeps that rod up high in his power zone? We talked about this,....he's a natural!
  6. Avid- Just got your mail and have replied. I'm home all morning, please call me so I know you are all set,...plus,...it's been awhile.
  7. Got it Sam! This will be coming full circle shortly folks , thanks so much to all who participated and especially to niksfishinmom who went WAaaaaay above and beyond. AWESOME, all of you,...thanks again!!!
  8. Matt5.0- Thanks so much for all your help!! Matt was my "go to" volunteer Huge help!!! I think we'll keep him around
  9. Now that's good 'ol American business right there, nice to see it, and yes, I support it. Folks, let's not let this just be a free give-away and make sure you report back in "my tournament or outing" as to your results and findings. I'm sure Bobby would appreciate truthful reviews and don't be shy to include any suggestions. I'd like to see him at least be able to chock up the cost of his generosity to "good R & D" Grass roots feedback can show some amazing things. Keep it real. Thanks again Bobby
  10. MM-When I wrote this line, I was brought back to the conversation we had a long time ago about how you view yourself. You are not a person that was so weak he fell to the bottom, you are the guy that climbed out. You are an example of life after death, people need examples of how it can be and how you can still attain to be one of the more respected leaders in your community. You have the heart, I have the tools. Let's get busy.
  11. Muddy, anonymity is fine and wouldn't be jeopardized but wouldn't it be nice to have a few boxes in your closet with 10-15 rod combos each and a bunch of tackle boxes with the basics? What we do is contact, plano, zebco, eagle claw, etc and pitch it. They will either donate or more likely offer you a special buying price. If that's the case, it could be as low as $200 to start you off with a bunch. That is very easily attainable from a number of places. Wal-mart or someone like that might even donate the gear directly. You are not asking for much, 5-10 combos at a time. Pennies for these places. One phone call to the right law firm that handles drunk driving cases or something and the whole thing is funded, trust me on this one. MADD, SADD, many "other" organizations would back up such a program also. Think about it. ---The only anonymity lost would be yours and if you ask around, many here will agree with me that people need to know about people like you.
  12. ;D ;D ;D Burley, supporting mom and pop ain't a bad thing in itself , I'm sure they appreciate your loyalty and monkey money.
  13. BUILD DISCIPLINE Put all your gear in the basement, buy a swimbait combo and 3 huds. Go fishing. Within 3 yrs, I predict you will have had at least 1 fish, of the largest class, in the body you are religiously throwing in. Make sure you are in the right body or you just wasted 3 yrs. It's a matter of what is fishing to you. For these trophy hunters, like Fish Chris, to be successful they had to forget most of what they learned before and DISCIPLINE themselves to stick with their specific pursuit, big fish. Don't waiver. To me, I can totally see the appeal for anyone who lives in a climate where big fish thrive but for me up here in New England, it's not really something that drives me. There are guys here that do it, religiously and they have more 7's and 8's than me, that's for sure but they had to sacrifice a lot of other catches to attain that. The question is,...what is fishing to you?
  14. or speak correctly for that matter. : : : (more rolling eyes.)
  15. Turning someone on to the passion of fishing is extremely rewarding,....that feeling increases when you do it with people who need it. Muddy, ever think of starting a program for recovering friends? I'd be happy to write up some request letters for manufacturers for you. Generosity on these levels has a way of snowballing, you could be amazed at what you could start. Think Glenn had any idea of just how much great stuff would be generated right here on the board, way back in '97? Think about it, I'll help.
  16. :)Today was our first annual C.A.S.T. For Kids Alumni Day. :) We had kids come back who attended last years event for a day to refamiliarize them with the gear we gave them, supply some bait and guidance and CATCH SOME FISH!!! I will give the full report back when I process all the pictures and video. On that sad note, I lost all my footage for today :( 180 pictures and 17 video clips. Everything from my dad catching a fish to another father running across the dirt lot screaming with his pole behind him dragging a 4 ft water snake and jumping up onto the picnic table. Priceless stuff. I also had great pics of Glenn's new banner and lots of personal pics of kids I have attachments to,...all lost. Long story of how but the milk has spilled. Either way though, lots of cameras were around and I'll give a full reportback in "My Tournament" when I have compiles everyones footage. A very special thank you, right up front to Christine, Chris and Casey from the R.I. Dept. Of Environmental Management. On behalf of EVERYONE that attended, we can't tell you how special you made this day for us, you've done you're office and our state, proud. So, in the report to follow, ....an unbelievable day. The Jr Bassmasters and their mentors put our guests on trout, crappie and a truckload of bass over 5 lbs with a few 7's and even an 8!!! The D.E.M volunteer, Chris, had all the kids, knee deep wading in the hatchery corridors with thousands of rainbow trout, teaching all kinds of cool stuff like what the slime is on a fish and so on,...a great day for everyone. THIS IS RI!! And this is how we roll. "Two hands"
  17. Yea, Fingers crossed, I'm havin' a blast!!
  18. I prefer to drill out the old rivet and replace with a tapered head bolt (short one) Add a touch of sealant/adhesive to the threads and you'll never touch it again.
  19. Welcome Aboard Gordon!!
  20. Welcome Aboard Raincloud!!
  21. keep a plastic bag from the grocery store in the boat or tackle box. Put the fish in the bag and hook on scale through the handles.
  22. Buy a Salter scale, have it certified.
  23. no, a spinner is it's own specie. Well known for the acrobatic jumps. They spin when they are in the air. A safety knife or leader knife would make a nice "Thank you" gift for the Captain. Seeing people cut leaders with an open blade is scary, there's a great tool for that. The pic is of an expensive one, they make $5 ones too. Was this your 1st shark? Great pic.
