What do you guys think about this idea?
Oh don't I know it...... :-[ Thanks for your input on this one GW, great info. I'm interested because I've also been on the fence for years about what to do when I retire. I'm sure it will be somthing inthe industry but I don't know if I could cut it as a guide. At least as a guide I would want to hire. Just being honest with myself. I've always assumed the things you preach about the business but hearing it from your mouth makes it real.

What do you guys think about this idea?
Are there other guides on Choke yet? I've always wondered, and perhaps GW could shed some light, if other , established guides feel about the new kid on the block. We are talking about someone who could potentialyy be taking money out of their pocket. I entertained the thought of guiding when I retire but I just can't see someone like me,a yankee talking, small guy, showing up down at stick marsh with a boat and setting up business where other guides already work without going to the boat one morning to see that my anchor has been used to perforate my hull in a few places. I know that's how it is up here.

MEMBER CHALLENGE-Fine tuned & ready 2go(revised)
you challenge them to a style of fishing that they may not be familiar with. The general concept is to increase versatility by setting aside a set amount of time to dedicate to a bait or method that you have been challenged to. Maybe somthing you never would have challenged yourself to do. Then you go to the results list and report back how you did. We ask that you only enter the challenge of you can post pics of the results. Anyone wishing to enter and has issues with posting pics, shoot me a PM and we can walk you through things. Also a reminder that there are pic posting tutorials in the FAQ's We expect alot of skunking for a number of reasons. So get creative with how you post your skunk results.

MEMBER CHALLENGE-Fine tuned & ready 2go(revised)
Guys, please remember not to post any comments about the challenge under the sign up list. The only info we want there is your fishing info. It was kind of messy so I cleaned it up and made sure everyone is only listed once . You may want to check it again and see who you are challenging. All previously issued challenges are NULL. Go check the list and we will start anew from here.

What do you guys think about this idea?
Josh-The guys aren't being mean, just brutally honest which is exactly what you need to hear. I don't think they doubt your passion but especiallty people like GW, I bet he's seen more of "your type" (not derogatory) fail than succeed. Set up right, heed the time proven advice being offered. Good luck in your venture!

Ok, After running the challenge for a week or so, I've gotten lots of great feedback from the members on specific tweaks and adjustments needed. I think I've come up with a solution. The challenge's big problem is the speed of it. By going 1 challenge at a time, it's way too slow so this is how we are going to try it. -There will be 1 challenge per month. -The first 2 weeks of the month are for entering the challenge for the month. Go to the sign up list and register. - You will be challenging the person on the list before you and you will be challenged by the person on the list after you. Last person ( one of the mods) will be challenged by the first person. -List will be locked for the month after 2 weeks of sign up. -The next 2 weeks are for completing the challenge and posting the results. -At the end of the month, I will wipe out the old challenge list and You can sign up on the new one for that month. The sign up list will remain stickied in "General" and the results will remain stickied in "Outtings" The 1st one will begin July 1st. Please include key elements or limitations in your post on the sign up list. (bank fisherman, etc) The current list will remain. If you were on it before and have already done your challenge, please sign up again. We have a little time before the first challenge starts so if there are any suggestions, opinions or feedback,...now is the time.- How Do I Award Free Tackle?
I think this IS home for Kevin as far as bass fishing goes, lol. wBasschaser is a pilot and I remember when we were corresponding alot before meeting up at Fork, He would be in Taiwan one night, Finland the next, Frankfurt, Madrid, etc etc etc,lol So yea, I think this may be His home port as far as chasing Bass go. And I think it should be said that it is a great and generous offer for you to give this stuff away. Thanks.- How Do I Award Free Tackle?
Youth is defined as 16 and under here. Just for the record. I would suggest leavingit vague. I agree with the resume type application, the grammar, spelling, etc but would leave the contest vague like...... "The member whose idea made the most difference or had the most positive impact" And then let them get creative. Subject should pertain to fishing, ecology, environmental managment, conservation or somthing based on the outdoors.- Calling your shots
Happens quite a bit. It's not somthing I could ever put a number on but it's when you say it out loud to the person you are fishing with that really makes it a trip. A couple weeks ago I was fishing with Dirk Jig_Lure and he was busting me up saying I was doing better because he was driving and I had the front of the boat so I got all the good spots first, lol we aren't competitive but... So when we came to a prime, skinny point, I said "ok there's a fish on each side of that tongue, I'll take the left, you take the right. " I casted to the left, he casted somewhere in the opposite direction out in deeper water. I got the fish with an immediate hit and yanked the dink back in , unhooked it and casted to the right of the same point before Dirk could get his jig in and wham! #2,...3 lbs. We both laughed pretty hard at that one. I still bust him up about it.- how long does it take a bass to bite again?
During the spawn, this is common. We have had many occasions where we release the fish back to the nest, dropi n the nest again and he/she will smack the same bait, immediately after being caught on it. I think they just like my cologne.- evinrude fithc
BEN- Could you be more specific in your answers please?!? Your mechanical knowledge is a huge asset here.- Bees in my boat
Well there's your problem right there,.....you went and got married!- Love my new personal plate :-)
Lol, that's not my plate. Belongs to a friend of mine. Lobster/clam fisherman.- Texas or wacky ??
He's saying to t-rig it but instead of entering the hook at the tip to begin it, enter the hook slightly off center so when you are finished rigging,...the hook is embedded evenly in the middle of the worm as opposed to in the first 1/3 of the worm. Like this (pic below) (2 overlapped pics but you get the idea)- fishing in the rain
Same here. Grab the gore-tex out of the dry bag and keep fishing. Usually the rain helps to keep the pressure away. I love foul weather fishing.- Love my new personal plate :-)
Another quick tip if the little things matter to you would be to take some of your wifes white nail polish or white electrical tape and color over the little bits of red from the word "california" that show up thru your name.- Wacky rigging
Big tip to remember when fishing a senko wacky. Do not "work" the bait. Any action you try and give it will only alter it's natural "quivering fall". Cast it out and let it fall on slackline like a jig. When it gets to the bottom, give it a lift and let it fall again. Nothing? Reel it in and repeat. - MEMBER CHALLENGE-Fine tuned & ready 2go(revised)
