  1. scbassin- He's a local New England boy. He's had a show in the sat morning line up for 2 or 3 years now. He's well known in our RI bass clubs and attends many fund raisers and public events. He's a pretty straight up guy, Alot of the challenges, he actually fishes in YOUR lake so it's tough to call in a "rigged" event. They try to make each outting more of an outrageous, crazy fun kind of event as opposed to a hard-core challenge.
  2. Won't hear me laughing,.....I am the jon boat fanatic. Love 'em! Glenn-was watching the 5 minute powepoint presentation Art sent me from CAST. I could have sworn I saw your boat in there. I said to myself that it was worth it to have one with custom colors because the fact that I just picked your boat out in a passing pic, proves it.
  3. Personally I wouldn't throw the buzzbait with that much wind, I would use a spinnerbait. As for those dying weeds, avoid them while they are dying. They give off co2 while dying which is a big turn-off for bass. hang tough, keep asking, we'll get you a bass in the boat one way or another.
  4. Trial and error. Learn from each cast. Where did I catch, where did I not catch. Notice the variables such as weather, wind, time of day etc and try to reproduce the same results next time. Remember, even if we aren't catching, we are learning.
  5. I'm still waiting for "onion" to be the next big thing. ;D
  6. Jaypea, time to hide, I heard the bait monkey has a contract out on you. ;D
  7. that's good business, good for you and good for them!
  8. Anyone interested in this venture, please see post in "everything else" about video editing,...help needed asap.
  9. I look for any visible structure first. Rock fields, standups, lay down, weed beds, points, etc. and let's not forget to employ the knowledge of locals.
  10. ok, here's the deal. I didn't realize that below the entry form on their website, it goes on about sending a videdotape in. I didn't see that part I sent another email to the submission dept stating that the video will be made this weekend and sent on Monday. I'll try and find a way to host the video I make so we can all see it. Stay tuned, "Moore" to come!
  11. In the other Charlie Moore post, a couple guys mentioned the side bet. I forgot to include this but the website doesn't ask you to include it. Both Charlie and I are from New England so I was thinking Quahog shucking or somthing like that. Seeing how it's a team though, street hockey would be awesome. Any ideas for a side bet if we get picked?
  12. Junk? Some villages have one car!...that boat's beautiful and I bet the memories you have from it are too!
  13. Nick- Hadn't thought of that, where can I go to ask some folks some questions and learn real quick,...any ideas? lol As to the backup for the 5k, I want there to be a CAST event in Boston, either way. Either I will pound the ground and campaign up the money like I'm doing for the RI event ,...or,......It's on Chuck! Either way it's a win/win situation with great publicity for everyone involved,....especially the kids. I just hope they reply one way or the other. THere are some guys from Ocean State Bassmasters that know him pretty well, and they were telling me today how this is right up his alley. Time will tell.
  14. abel- you a yankees fan living in Boston? lol THanks for the support!
  15. In conjunction with Glenn's approval, I challenged Charlie Moore on behalf of BassResource.com. This is a copy of the challenge I sent. "I am a 38 yr old UPS driver and also a moderator on bassresource.com. I am also the regional events coordinator for C.A.S.T. for kids foundation. As a representative of bassresource.com, I would like to challenge you to a team event. We will put together a team of 4-5 moderators/members to fish against yourself and 4 or 5 teammates. The hitch is we don't want the 5k.The money will go to the winners charity, ours being a C.A.S.T. for kids event in Charlies home town. We are expanding into the northeast this year and would love to launch alongside Charlie Moore, "NEW ENGLANDS" mad fisherman. Please visit our site and see what we are about. Strictly an educational/instructional youth friendly forum board started By a man named Glenn M*^ who will also be on our team. Regardless as to whether you accept or not, our board will be anxiously awaiting your reply. Sincerely, Russ T*#)ni@A"
  16. Now that's a broad one bud, can you be more specific?
  17. congradulations Ben, Good luck with her! ;D
  18. all great points- and as always, check your hook sharpness, bouncing rocks and hanging up alot can dull your tip.
  19. Pretty sure that's just a coincidence. They probably over-ordered because there was a run on that color the year before and it didn't sell as well this year. Either way, one mans trash is another mans treasure! Take advantage of your good fortune and buy 'em up!
  20. I advise all people trying to learn jigs to start off with a finesse jig. 1/8th oz. Still very castable but hooks up alot less on bottom drama and alot more on chunky bass! Good luck and by all means, stick with it, you're onto somthing very, very lethal. Terminator, micromunch and rocky ledge all make fantastic finesse jigs
  21. I never thought of t like that whittler, for that matter, when I jig off the tuna grounds for bait I use a 9-hook herring rig with a 6oz. sinker on the end. I put a small strip of herring belly skin on each hook because noone goes to a restauraunt with no food, lol and I just jiggle it till it "feels" like most of the hooks have a fish. Bring them up, pop the bladders and get them in the livey basket and go do it again! Salt water drop-shotting!
  22. mud/sediment, not a stone to be found, maybe even some clay down there.
  23. below is a topo of one of our haunts. The bank circled in red is known as barren bank because it has an immediate drop to about 15 ft then a very gradual drop to 18 in the middle. This section of this bank has no rocks, stand ups, anything. There is a wedline 3/4 of the way down the bank. weeds grow up about 2ft off bottom butare dead now. This bank has always been odd because this lake is chock full of structure but it's totally barren for about 4-500 yards. Even directly across the lake it's the same depth scenario but chock full of vw sized boulders and pockets of stand ups. This is one spot we will be targeting with brushpiles once the ice freezes and we can get them in position. But how about for now,...should we give a try over there?
