  1. Hey!...................how bout an autograph?
  2. Way to go guys!! Great fish everyone. ;D We will have to dig this out of the archive next year and do a comparison post.
  3. I flip when I see how much I have accumulated on my tackle shop tab! Never a big baitcasting user for freshwater. I plan on grabbing a set-up over the winter and practicing in the basement or backyard. Next year, I should be able to give input on subjects like this but for now it's all learning.
  4. Did you get it taped this morning?
  5. wd40 on the guides keeps the ice from forming for a bit but needs to be re-applied every so often.
  6. Well guys, I'm sorry to say, the stuff just didn't fare well. Many of you are familiar with the restore job I did on a '64 jon boat this summer. For those of you not familiar, this is the link to the post. http://bassresource.com/cgi-bin/bass_fish/YaBB.pl?board=boating_ID;action=display;num=1119359773;start=0#0 Now, I know that when bass tech did their boat, they used rhino lining on the inside of the boat as a sealer. Great idea. bad part-weight. What I did was different and uneffective. Keep in mind that this boat was done before the airring of bass tech. We have to drag our boats over a road edge and then some rip rap before it's in the water so I wanted to protect the bottom of the boat and tried using herculiner to do it. It didn't work. It scraped off of the "v" channels on the bottom within a month and is now actually peeling off the bottom in other places where it doesn't even get touched. I would like to think it's water related because the motor mount and footrests I also did are rock solid but are never submerged like the bottom. I know this suggests improper prep work on the bottom but I can assure you that proper prep work is my specialty. *in short I'll say that if the boat has leaks everywhere, sure, go ahead and apply but if there are one or two leaks, fix them independantly. The weight increase is not worth it. As a bottom paint application like I tried, I say avoid it. Not only did it not last but the boat was heavier and even slower due to the drag created by having that rough under-surface.
  7. OK, it's on here in RI again on monday morning at 5:30am.
  8. What he's saying is "deep" is relevant. If the lake averages 4 ft all around and there is a 6' hole,....that's "deep".
  9. I know that here in Rhode Island, B.A.S.S. has a junior division. Perhaps they do in your state also.
  10. oh man, that's a bummer that I missed it but it replays here monday so I'll be sure to watch! Too bad they didn't tell you they would be using that as a segment so you could have taped it!
  11. Thanks Chris, Although we plan on cheating with shiners today, we are still bringing the arsenal. The shiners are back-up. Appreciate the insight.
  12. Thanks guys but if lightning, alligators, and 40mph winds don't keep us off the lake, helping Glenn out a bit certainly won't!
  13. Do the baitfish become not so concentrated? I noticed about a month ago when the water was starting to change that the bait schooled up very tight but they are M.I.A. now. Don't see schools on the graph any more either, no bait balls.
  14. That's nice of you Fluke, charity from a republican, who would have figured? Unfortunately, I used up all 5 weeks of vacation during the season! I'm a working man till the spring when we pick our next vacations but when that time comes, I will definately be making a road trip to take advantage of some of these great offers that have been extended to me via this forum. Fluke, get the camper ready.
  15. seems that they would be mostly relating to the topography of the lake first and the structure second so would brush piles mostly be a waste of time if they aren't near any deeper water? I only ask because I've noticed that the fish are definately on the piles that sit on one of our drop-offs at about 13 ft (on a 26 ft deep bank) but they aren't on any of the other ones that are up on the flats or in the coves(shallower)
  16. nice, that would definately help me get through thewinter. I plan on trying to do as much bookwork as possible. These days and times, that means videos, lol.
  17. ;D Rebasser-I must apologize and please let me explain. I had 2 projects going for Glenn. 1 folder was named Glenn and it was in "my documents" which was the collage. The other project was named "BRproject" which was a rigging pictorial I was doing for the site. I stupidly stored your pic in the wrong folder. One was backed up because it was under "my pictures" but the rigging one wasn't. So...when computer was stolen, I also lost your pic along with it. So sorry man, definately didn't mean to exclude you or anyone else that's not there. newbassman- I have no idea how I could have forgotten the chimp!! Good eye, oops. Glenn-enjoy and thanks again.
  18. My name is Russ, when people refer to me as such on here, it just means we've talked either through pm's, email, or phone. After talking 1 on 1 with someone, you feel kinda dumb calling them "senko77" or such so you ask their name and next thing you know, it gets used in a post and others learn it etc. As for tourny fishing, I'm no pro. I belong to a group that does a very original type of competition. I fish in a "league" that we call "the clearwater challenge". We are primarily made up of people who became uninterested in the politics associated with club fishing. Some guys are retired club fisherman who may not want to fish a whole scheduled season, etc but anyway, this is how it works. The organizer (Bill) has a list of 17 , 2man teams. He makes the call on wed night to each team captain and announces the time , price and place for saturday morning. Entry is never less than $100/person and never more than $250. $200 is taken off the top of the pot for the bbq or breakfast after weigh in. The rest is divided for $200 big bass, and 1-4 place payouts. Now 34 guys x 250 minus bbq and big bass, leaves one heck of a payout. Here's the catch. It's alot like this forum and it's creator. This is Bills game, and Bill makes the rules. These guys, regardless of the money, are here for the comeraderie, the great fishing, and for recreation. Many guys are retired and they see it as a day on the golf course or a friendly fishing tournament, either way, they are going to spend the $150 for the day and don't care if it's here or at the casino as long as they have a good time. There are no fights, quarrels etc. What Bill says goes and if that's a problem, you're not invited back. Real simple. This was our 2nd year and not one incident in both seasons. Great guys, great times, and opportunities to fish other new england lakes and even make some money. The clearwater part is because Bill only pics high quality, clear water impoundments. However, to my partner and I, this is more of a huge fishing expedition than a tournament. I don't see myself as a tournament angler for there is no ranking, points sytem, etc. I see it more like fish-gambling. Either way, it keeps the fun in it. I do, however, belong on a team that competes regularly in many inshore and offshore saltwater tournaments. Usually, tuna, shark, or striper tournys. In this right, I would consider myself a tournament angler, but not freshwater. I don't take the time/research and cash investment for fresh that I do for salt although the passion burns just as brightly. Yea, so,...that's me. Russ
  19. This is like the old tv show "to tell the truth",...I'm waiting for Nipsey Russell to stand up and say "I am the real Fish Fishburne" lol
  20. you got me matt! I'm really Roland Martin! Matter of fact, I just got me me another 16 inch , 9lb bass! Really tho, I'm just me but that's been more than enough for those who know me! ;D
  21. sounds like another alternative. Is is lighter, heavier, about the same? The only thing is I like the way the cxarpet also dulls alot of the noise in the old tin can.
