Question about sportsman ethics
sounds like that guy either wasn't catchin' or was catchin' but got called home by the wife. And you got the brunt of his frustrations.

How did you do this years so far?
I've had a great year so far. No PB's or anything very notable but lots of 5's (pretty good for new england) Had a super ice out and a very steady spring and summer with things just slowing down in the last few weeks. Waiting now on that fall feed. Good luck to all you tourny fisherman, especially shad_master,...way to go setting a goal and not being distracted, I can see you in the top ten. nick-way to go with that 9-6!! FALL IS ON IT'S WAY FOLKS!!! I'LL be expecting some nice pics in the next few months from you guys. CATCH 'EM UP!

swimming or spinning?
I'll definately throw a jig as deep into trouble as I would a SB, so that's not a reason for me. I swin a jig slower than I retrieve a s/b. Pretty close to "slow-rolling" a s/b but the appeal is a "craw" look instead of a "baitfish" look. Jig also has faster fall rate

Actually, I posted this as a reference for folks who might want to ask a question about somthing in particular. As far as I am concerned, everyone here is equal. We got rookies to guides to pros. We have computer wizzes, firemen and nurses. We got kids, granddads and moms. As for post count, I wish mine wasn't so high because as I see it, the more your typing, the less you're fishing! We don't judge people on this site and certainly not by post count, I think that's one of the main attractions to most here. A "noobie" is a good thing here because we know that person will recieve the advice needed to further his/her passion for fishing as opposed to some other forums that would have the same person running for cover in a week. And as for "what about Glenn?", Glenns specialty is designing and maintaining the atmosphere I just described. Anyone here knows how well he does this and that's y you're still here. As for hurt feelings,...c'mon guys, you know me, this is a list for reference in case you want someone personally to answer your question. These are also the people I have PERSONALLY been helped by and feel confident in refering them. An anonymous angler asked me to add these: earthworm77 jigs Chris jigs & crankbaits Brad_Coovert C-rig Sweetwater C-rig Bowjunkie35, welcome and I look forward to getting to know you and pick your brain. Glenn- feel free to delete w/no hurt feelings, potential to go awry.

Jon boat seat clamps?
My buddy that went overboard last week , was partially blaming that mount. Granted he leaned too far, but if the clamp hadn't let go, I bet he would have stayed much drier. I'm refering to them lifting as Ben said. I would just get by w/ cushions for now, but otherwise for the same money, ($11 7" pedestal and $10 swivel), you can mount them much more securely and they can still go on the roof.

Golf course ponds!!!
I found that if you can find which pond is used for irrigation, you can find a gold mine. First of all, they usually used the biggest or bigger ponds to drain from for irrigation. Around this time of year, many of these irrigation ponds are about 1/2 full and it's like fishing in a barrell!! A fish every cast, and you'll catch some of the same ones repeatedly. "Poaching rods" are recommended if you're fishing an elite course with security. THis rod was made from the tip of a 7weight fly rod,..works perfectly. WHat I do is find a place where you can stash the rod quick. Fish near a bush, rocks, any place where you can stick this real quick. If you get approached, stuff rod away and explain that you are late getting home so you tried cutting through the course and now you're all lost and confused cause it all looks the same at night. Definately lots of fish to be had on these golf course ponds tho!

Idle on a old boat
Idle screw is located on the carb. Usually just above the bowl. It will be a small screw running through a tension spring.

best bet is to experiment with both. Make sure you try to add sound or vibration wherever applicable.

Thank you all
The board is what we make it. With Glenn moderating, this should stay as an educational/tutorial site.

Hand Tied Jigs
Actually, when I started, my girlfriends dad had gotten me a fly tying kit for christmas. They have them from $49. I think mine was the $79 one and well worth it. I got a vice, all kinds of materials, marabou, deer hair, chennile, etc. All other tools for basic stuff which is all you need for jigs. Also included was a book. Here's one I just googled, first hit http://www.jsflyfishing.com/cgi-bin/item/OF-901060-0000

Paging Dr. Raul
Raul- After a few months of enjoying your posts, I was just wondering if I could inquire as to who you are. "What's your story" so to say. I think I read somewhere that you are a VET? In Mexico? Where you born there or a transplant because although I know a few of us get a kick out of some of the "raul-ism's" (new words only Raul could create),we all know exacly what you mean and when my g/f pointed out, English is probably your 2nd language. Wen you think of it that way, you speak English better than 75% of this board. With that said, great posts and thanks for all the researching you invest in your answers. Very infomational.

Know your prey !: Bass Senses II
Would it make sense to manufacture a lure that emits the same frequency as an injured baitfish? I remember seeing a shark special and they used such a frequency to attract them to the area. Does this seem far fetched or sensible?
