  1. I wouldn't sell that, as is, motor running for less than $5-600. If he says somthing crazy like $200, jump! Best way is to let him come up w/ price. If it's too high, tell him you did some research and make him an offer. Many times, seller will undersell these types of things, especially to a neighbor.
  2. I use the rubber as a stopper so it doesn't come off.
  3. Not a tube but a solid center soft plastic that is deadly would be the fat ika. Lots of posts on it, try doing a search.
  4. After such a detailed post, you're gonna hate this answer. You need to watch both, or simply, the whole line.
  5. yea, it's like a combination of locking the line in your hand (your drag system) and lifting the rod as quickly as possible. Flyrods don't have the same type backbone as bass rods. They are generally longer and much whippier.
  6. Yea, slow, slow slow. Then try slower. Not really referring to the attractants that you add to a bait, but many baits already have attractants built into them and that is what the bass would be "trailing".
  7. some baits are impregnated with salt, some with attractants, many with both. I believe nwga was referring to any impregnated bait. All good advice either way.
  8. The actual art of casting a fly is somthing only practice will perfect. If interested, I suggest a quick lesson before attempting too much whether from a friend or a pro. A few basic pointers will save alot of grief. Many will disagree with this but I suggest buying a $25-50 combo kit (7 weight). Includes rod reel and line. There's no need to spend hundreds on equipment yet. Look for somthing with a floating line, these stay on top of water and are easier to lift in your back-cast. This, and all, lines will require a leader which can be made of flouro or mono. I suggest 4-6lb for now. Lines play the major role in where your fly fishes. Lines are made to float or sink(lead core) or some are hybrids of both like a floating line with a sinking tip where the last few feet of line have lead core but not the rest. Read up on lines before bothering w/ looking at flies because fly choice will depend on which line you have on at the moment. Spools can be switched quickly from sinking to floating,as an example. having multiple spools of diff type lines is what can be as big of an influence on your versatility as your fly choices. As for those fly choices, you look to the surroundings for fly choices. LIft rocks, scan the weeds, the mud, see what's flying around,...and match that as closely as possible. The "spinnerbait" or the "universal", "work anywhere" fly is a black wooly bugger. Start off bluegill fishing with small flies till you are at the next level of comfort with the equiptment. The flies for smallies will be a little bigger and a little tougher to throw. There is lots you need to know, a long cool journey ahead. The best thing you could do right now is get one in your hand and start experimenting. Feel free to re-post w/ other questions as you progress and PM me anytime. Good luck
  9. I don't personally belong to a club but I've worked closely with 2 of them running events for kids and I must say that it is appealing. There is a comeraderie(sp?) there that money can't buy. They do great things in our community, some big, some small, but any positive contribution to society in these days and times is a value beyond money once again. Like gamblers sidewalk, etc. Kids and families will also benefit from this, not just club members. For all we know, a serious accident may have been avoided there.
  10. Not sure what you are looking for. Do you have a receptacle clip on your boat and you want to use that? If so, you can cut off the male end from your old motor and splice it.. or Are you saying the wires have no attaching pieces (gator clamps,"u"- leads ) to connect to battery? I'm pretty sure they all come from the factory with clips or somthing on the end of the wires. If it's a plug you are looking for, you will probably be able to find it here: https://www.trollingmotorparts.com/MinnKotaElectricalItems.htm
  11. the name refers to his pricing strategies, not his product. Let's just drop this already. Glenn- sorry if things got outta hand here.
  12. whittler- we are talking about which ones we would spend our own money on. Also, my "sole purpose" is not to bad mouth anyones product, ever. Simply asking why those of you that insist on using this particular brand, which costs much more than the one that produces just as well. I got my answer. Many feel that they have different fall rates and that this makes a difference worth paying more money for. I don't necessarily believe in this but it explains why some might be willing to pay more. Just for the record however, so you get a better idea of who I am and what I'm about, I don't badmouth people, brands or places. Not my style, sorry if this particular post has you confused as to my intentions. sidenote-if a company wants to give baits to handicapped and underpriveledged kids, I don't care who they are or what they charge the general public, their help would be appreciated equally with any other company that wants to help enrich these kids lives. max-in-mn & fluke--I appreciate your replies
  13. I think I better sign off, I keep coming off like a jerk tonight. Sorry to all.
  14. John_Cullem- I've never "skimped" on anything I purchase but what I look for is "value". Bang for the buck. I have a boston whaler because you cannot sink it. It costs twice as much as any other 15 ft boat but the quality and craftsmanship are a great value to me because I won't be spending money down the road to repair badly executed workmanship. Now If there was another boatmaker that gaurenteed these facts as strongly as whaler and had a cust service support base like whaler, I would certainly buy it instead. Yamamoto does not offer a $4 advantage to me over another bait. Granted, some knock-offs suk, too stiff, etc but the one I use is YUm's dinger and I outfish or at least hold my own when up against a yamamoto freak like my main partner is. This is a fact. I outfished him 20 to 11 this morning w/ dingers. If it were the other way around, on a consistent basis, I would probably spend the money for them, no doubt. It's not a money thing, it's a value thing. I'm not saying he doesnt beat me using GY's now and again, but theres certainly no major trend there. Either way for that matter. Not cheap, never was, just an educated consumer looking for the most value for my dollar
  15. Sorry, really didn't mean that to sound snotty. Not my intention, it's getting a bit comical though how dedicated some people can be. The name brand is like a crutch or a life vest for some anglers, I swear. IN SHORT Whatever you use, I hope you have success and by success I mean, no matter how much you paid for whatever you are using, use it well, use it often and wear a big smile.
  16. Dude, $20/ bag, god bless ya! I outfished my partner this morning, 20 to 11. I used dingers. Know what he used? Let's just say,...too much money is what he used. See ya at the scales ;D
  17. Like dustin,I've caught cats on them but for bassin', I just use them as dinner. ;D
  18. Lakeman- Pike covered in "other species"
  19. I usually just let the 6lbrs pull my boat!! ;D
  20. I'm the same as RR. 4a-8 or 9 then back out by 5ish till 10-11 Sat and sun and any day I can get off in between (which has been alot lately!)
  21. Dustin- this is your 4th reply in this post. :-/ Not slamming you but it's a bit hypocritical that the main person saying to drop this post is the same person re-newing it. You've made your point, but everyone here has an opinion and they are entitled to it.
  22. Fireand ice- your friend is in the 420 club and doesnt even know it.
  23. Raul, If I ever saw anyone drop a tire in this place,....it wouldn't be pretty. This is a gin clear reservoir. Used as secondary water supply for an entire state.
  24. Some good ideas flyrod, thanks. The xmas tree thing is out because I don't live on this lake, actually about 40 mins away. However, they just did some clearing on a lot where they built a house this year. Tons of cut branches shoreside right now. I'm actually thinking of finding 3 or 4 cinderblocks and buying a clothesline and doing somthing today while the materials are there. I'm sure if I ask the owners, they won't object to me taking some of the branches. The place I want to drop them is also close to this lot. I like the pvc tree idea. Nottoo expensive and tough to get hung up on. Thanks again.
