guides==please educate
Could some of the guides here(acstech, etc) please explain how being a guide is not like getting paid to fish. I think some folks see it as just that. THey don't see the pressure, the sales aspect, etc. Could you enlighten us as to how tough it is to be a successful, sustaining guide?

antique equipment
I'm the same way. Iwas asking because I just bought a 6 apartment 1876 victorian and I am living in one of the apartments. Its got a ton of charachter and I was planning on doing the kitchen (small) in all fishing gear. My buddies dad gave me his fly rod from when he was a kid (and he grew up w/ my dad), hexagon bamboo, pretty cool. THis is what I've got so far. Please excuse the mess.

advice for Jon boat
I used about 1/2 of the 1 gallon kit when I did mine. 3 coats. I wish I had my trailer ready and prepped because there was more than enough leftover to do that too but the stuff must be used within 17 hours of opening the can. (air reactive) So I ended up throwing a good amount into the trash.

boat name
My first saltwater boat was named "fishous". pronounced vicious with an "f". tons of names here, use alpha-chart on left. http://www.boatus.net/boatgraphic/names/top10.asp

should i buy this jon boat (Pics)
also, if it's fiberglass, it weighs a ton. Personally I would keep looking, lots of stuff out there for cheaper. Drive around some neighborhoods near lakes and leave notes on doors asking if the boat may be for sale. Leave your telephone #. I did this on my UPS route for 2 days and got about 12 call backs. THat gave me a huge choice of vessels in all different price ranges to choose from. Good luck.

I'm looking for a good small pond boat....
Thanks RR. I found mine by driving around. I'm a UPS driver so I left a note on every door that had a jon in the yard. I asked if they were interested in selling and left my number. Many people have them sitting in their yards and havn't been touched for years. All they need is to be shown how that eyesore in the backyard can be converted to a couple of hundred dollar bills. Good luck in your hunt. I would suggest driving around in a "lake" neighborhood, they are everywhere.

Internet Fishing Teams?
honor system. Not the best method for fishermen!! lol This is probably the one board this would work on but it's not neccessary. Many of us constantly post results from outings and share in tackle info so it's kind of pointless.

worm give-away
Bump- Anyone ever hear how that turned out?

Too hot for topwater?
I havn't had any problem catching on top in the heat, for me it's much more of a light issue. I would however fish near the higher oxygenated water (shallows near deeper water) as opposed to the thickly vegetated, choked, shallow coves. Good luck

advice for Jon boat
Yes, brazing sticks they are called and they work fine but there are easier, neater and cheaper ways to repair aluminum now. These are more for cracks than a leaking rivet also.

Depth Finder Question
The smaller ones aren't that powerful and tend to mark alot of false hits. I wouldn't rely on it as a "fish finder" but use it more as a bottom contour reader and depth gauge. Use it to find drop offs, holes, larger bottom structure etc
