Live bait
Most guys here don't fish live bait mainly because it's kinda like cheatin' to them, myself included. I only use live bait w/ kids or a girl who I'm tring to get interested in fishing or who I don't want to be bored. The level of fishing that I consider myself at , is one where satisfaction comes with "creating" a bite. Figuring the fish out and offereing somthing that will be presented correctly enough to fool them into a bite. "Shiner " fishing kind of defeats that. It's like "Anyone can catch on shiners" . Look at it like this, live bait is a great way to get and keep newbies interested in the sport and can be considered the 1st lure to "learn" before moving on to the next new lure in the hopes of becoming a versatile, proficient angler.

Fished 12:30 till about 5:45, 6 fish between the both of us. I lost a monster on the horny toad. Broke me off in the pads but that's what I get for throwing 10lb test back there. All fish caught were on a senko or fat ika. No size to speak of. Beautiful night with the moon but this small cold front prevailed. Still a great night to be out there.

G3,Yamaha, or Skeeter?
Do you think it would be profitable to put the Yamaha name on the bass boat line? Your motors are highly regarded around here in salty RI and I would certainly consider a yamaha if I were in the market.

I'm gonna have to take credit for that one.He picked that up in my boat. I name all my lures. Dirk jig-lure is the blk/brwn rocky ledge 1/8 oz finesse jig. Fishing can produce some severe comedy.

G3,Yamaha, or Skeeter?
My buddy was on the Yamaha web site and was looking at the G3 Jon's . He bought one. Got it home and the manufacturers tag says "manufactured by skeeter marine co." So is Yamaha just a distributer and are all G3's sold by Yamaha made by Skeeter?

Night fishermen...help
I got forced off the water by lightning. The bite was on too, of course. In 45 mins, I had 4 and my partner had 3. What a bad day all around (hit smeones dog w/ my truck at work). I should have just stayed home. Hope you guys had a better full moon than me!

Re: I need some major help guys!!!
If you really love your monster, you will find a way to feed him. Plenty of ways to make extra cash. When I was 17, I had a "shortie" wetsuit and a bucket of sponges and 3m scuff pads and went boat to boat asking if they would lke their bottoms cleaned. (keep the comments to yourself!) You would be surprised how many people took me up on it, especially sailboats. Good Luck!!

I'm on the same level as Chris but a little different. I really enjoy turning people on to fishing who had no idea. I've found the best way is to bring someone bluefishing. The schools of bluefish ball up bait and then the whole lot rises to the surface and the feed is on. It's actually loud when bluefish are boiling and it's a "no miss", viscious, topwater bite. I've had people on my boat whose mouth's dropped open when they saw what goes on in the bay that's right in their backyard. Great way to get someone interested. Another aspect is kids. Glenn put me in touch w/ the folks from C.A.S.T. I am starting a committee to organize one of these events for the kids in the orphanage on my route(ups) Very satisfying spreading the word, spreading the knowledge, and just giving someone a taste of somthing I pull so much of my enjoyment from.......F I S H I N G!!

top water baits and sunlight
I'm with both rattlinrogue and Nick. I also fish gin clear water and once the sun is up, the topwater bite gets pretty tough. Granted, sometimes, whether it's a moon phase or a frontal condition, they will take a topwater in the sun but not as often or as whole-heartedly as during the conditions r-rogue explained. I also found , like r-rogue, that if the topwater bite is very good during the sunrise hours, I will shift to the shaded side of the lake after it's up and be able to (usually, I mean, this IS fishing, lol) be able to keep that bite going.

I've entered the next plane
It seems that after 25 yrs of fishing, it's official and I have now entered the realm where my hobby starts to eat up the rest of my life. My car is now my tackle box on wheels and my garage has become a master tackle locker. I have 2 pairs of jeans, been out of paper towels, milk, and even sugar since early june ....but I'm saving up $500 to buy a megabass rod. Having Gore-tex has now surpassed water as a "life necessity" Norml behavior? I think not. I bet a psycho-therapist who specializes in obsessive-compulsive behavior would have a field day on this site!!
