What's the pattern II?
I would move out from the bank and find the staging points. Places where they can sit in 6-8 ft w/ 10 ft nearby on one side and the shallows on the other. c-rig and jig the 10 ft water too.

Bad Luck!!!!!
I don't know man, sounds like tyhe switch may have melted causing a link between the first gear (or "contact" in the switch) to melt and become 1 with the 3rd. causing 2nd to be 3rd etc down the line.

Fishing Journal
We keep pretty detailed journals and we track patters also. We use an excel spreadsheet that my ex-g/f (computer friggin genius) set up for us. I've never had them hit on the head like that but they have certainly given us direction and a better look at the big picture when compared yr to yr

And some days I don't even get that far, I'll text message my boss and say "please put me in a better vehicle today, preferably one with a jet engine and a hull" and he sometimes replies with "catch 'em up".......another successful sick day!

where are those bass
ddbasser- I was always a "topwater" fisherman. I would fish plastics or a rapala if that wasn't working but it led me to also shy from the deep water. I was forced by my partner a few yrs ago to use a jig all day, nothing else. I've been a believer ever since! Jig is a great way to break into that deep water. Give it a try, good luck

Boat Question 1: Available Service?
Honestly, Unless money is not an option, ask yourself these questions. can I change the oil in my car? Can I troubleshoot basic electrical or fuel issues? EVer switch out a battery? Do you mind painting/sanding/buffing? Boats are CONSTANTLY needing attention. A simple fuse, loose wire, bad plug, can cost you hundreds or thousands if misdiagnosed . Paying a dealer to do 1/5 of the work, upkeep and repairs, that a boat routinely needs can really hurt or even empty a wallet in the long run But then again, there is only 1 way to learn so a better question is are you willing to ask questions and learn?

Missed him, now what?
Exactly. plus,...sometimes trying too hard can cause you to lose that vital window of excitedness to hit 'em w/ the follow up if your smart enough to have 1 (or2 or 3) at your feet.

Just a comment on this site
that's my point. That's probably like a 50 hr /wk job! I hear you about letting your baby go though. There are some senior guys on here that I'm sure would love to help. At least with the forum. Trick is to get someone who maintains the sites integrity as being the ego free/ educational based zone that it has the rep of being. Good luck, Let me know if I can do anything to help. I've got a few xtra hours/week if needed.

advice for Jon boat
this might be kind of obvious but to find any leaks, leave on trailer, or elevate on sawhorses, etc and fill with a couple inches of water. Grab a wax crayon, go underneath and start circling the rivets that are dripping (or pouring:()
